So anyway, I told my one of my friends I disliked Epic Game Studios, and felt that UTIII and Gears of War were mediocre games, he called me the devil incarnate and I started to wonder if I was the only one of my kind
What do all of you think of Epic Games?

I don't really like their games, but no need to dislike the studio...

They created the Unreal Engine, which has been used in countless brilliant games. For that reason alone, I shaln't condemn them to the fiery pits of hell/Australia.

They make very generic shooters. The thing is that's good because they're not trying to out do themselves. Also, the graphics of the games are immense for the xbox.

Some day they´ll make the good one.

I think they have the right idea's and kick ass graphics, but don't follow through with these ideas particularly well. I mean UT3 could have had an amazing story mode, but it didn't and instead thought winning wars through capture the flag was a better way.

I really don't care about graphics, as long as things are discernible and not too blocky I'm okay with it as long as it's a good game, so honestly, while the Unreal Engine is cool, I don't love it that much

I like the Unreal Engine, but the games that the studio makes aren't very good.

Well I'm a fan of Unreal Tournament, so I like the studio.

The problem with Epic is that they are programers, not game designers.

I liked the original Unreal games, but everything since has been poor. I give them a score of poopy. But I will not slander them openly. I never really hate on a studio, just the games.

I thought that too, that's why I got the Mass Effect handbook ready.

I'm sure there's some game out there that uses the Unreal Engine that I like, otherwise I don't like their games.

I don't mind Epic overall, I just wonder who in the studio keeps thinking it's a good idea to remove Assault mode from the Unreal Tournament games.

They're fine, they make better than decent games and produce a powerhouse engine.

I just don't see why their games have to look the same.

I used to like them untill they released GoW exclusively on the xbox and then gave the pc one of the crappiest ports i've seen so far 1 year overdue.

I like Epic. I'm not a huge fan (like I am of other studios) but they do solid stuff and the Unreal Engine *is* an important middleware package in the industry.

(Though I may be biased, as I know a couple of folks who worked there in Test.)
