I just think that Resistance 2 looks sweet, especially because of the new weapon, the 'splicer' the weapon shoots sawblades, and no, that's not the only reason you should want Resistance 2, the online is going to be massive, unless you compare it to M.A.G, but thats focusing on multiplayer, for Resistance it's just for something to do when you finish the story, which itself needs to be played at least twice. anyway, what are your opinions, if you think this game sucks, you need serious mental help, anyone who loves this game, sweet, I just want to hear your opinions, so yeah, go for it
Eh, I find it hard to be hyped up for games these days (except for LittleBigPlanet :D I have a nerdgasam everytime I see gameplay footage/trailers for that) but I'm definately going to be getting Resistance 2 when it comes out.
Multiplayer looks a little bit too much like Call of Duty 4, but that's not a bad thing at all. It'll be fun. I just hope I can walk more than a few feet before I get killed by the large numbers of enemies in multiplayer. That happens to me a lot in Battlefield: Bad Company...
well at least I'll have a reason to use my PS3 some time soon, such a lack of good exclusives is killing me and MGS4 didn't last long. But resistance really was good with that gritty WWII feel but with an alien sci-fi twist. R2 is really beinging to look like the epic game that the PS3 has been waiting for, for so... so, long

It's Insomniac and they have yet to drink the fail sauce like FR and SK so R2 should kick major ass.
Even though I don't have a PS3, I must say that the Resistance series looks quite good.
But honestly, I really think that M.A.G will flop. People say that it's the bomb due to the 256 players (I think that's the number anyway). All we've seen is a (pretty average looking) CG trailer, that really doesn't sell it. Plus, think of lag in games with around 16 people. If you're not American then you'd know. Now think of that with 256 people. I don't see how in the world a dedicated server could take this, MUCH less a peer-to-peer connection. Not everyone in the game is going to have the best broadband money can buy.
Resistance 2 is one of the few games I'm looking forward to this year. A sequel was destined to happen, and if the gameplay is as good as the first one then I'll be very happy. Multiplayer was interesting but it didn't hook me as much as say, CoD4. Co-op gameplay though.. now that might be worth a look.
Does anyone know if they are actually making those other six classes from Getawarjob.com? Every article seems to focus on those, and while it might be better to focus on the concretely released information, i.e. the classes that people are playing in the online Beta (Damn those who wouldn't allow me in. And damn them again, cause they're probably the same people who wouldn't let me in the Home Beta), I would like some confirmation that those are not the only classes.
And what the hell is communications, and how is it useful when fighting 5 Chameleons?

Tell me, how many people are online playing in WOW at any one time? A fair few more than 256?
Yes, they have said they are looking to MMOs as inspiriation on how to decrease lag to nil.

How much information per player action do you think a shooter needs compared to an mmo?
RESISTANCE 2 FTW!!!!!!!!!!!! There are in specific two things that gives me that opinion: 1. the 8 player online co-op which is a different campaign than the Single Player one, so don't play through the same story two times. 2. there are rumors that there will be a FULLY AUTOMATIC SNIPER!! if that isn't awesome then nothing is! (except from the Skyblaster weapon in Freelancer ofcourse)

....why didn't you try the Insomniac appetizer in the meantime? (by which I mean Quest for Booty).
And if thats how you would summarise the story, you might want to look into it a bit more. I'm not sure, but from the tone of the trailers, I think it might require you be at least familiar with the events that lead up to Resistance: Fall of Man.
I agree with LivemeLifefree.. Looks just like the first one, and I thought that was one on the worst FPS's i'v played.. So cant say i'm really looking forward to it. At all.
But I am looking forward to pummeling some Hellgast! That looks cool!

I wouldn't know, lets ask all the makers of MMOFPS's.

Thats not a rumour, its pretty much given fact. Its called the Marksman, and its the Spec Ops (Sniper) weapon of choice, and default.

Welcome to Counter-Strike. Also for the MMOFPS/RPG I'd say they'd need about the same, maybe the FPS one more because more action is going across the screen.

Well I don't think that a ping of 500 on an average day is something to look up to. Would you like that half second of lag in a shooter?

FPS's require lots more. The server has to track where people are aiming, what they're firing and, if the gun is a projectile tracked rather than hitscan weapon, it has to track the bullet fired. That's quite a lot of information.
That being said massive player matches have been done before. I'm not sure if it can be done peer to peer though.
As for a fully auto sniper. Meh. Takes all the skill out of it.
vlanitak: Also heard a rumour about a minigun, anything true in that?
They always have a minigun. In this one, the Hailstorm has been replaced by an unnamed minigun that either projects a shield out in front of the shooter and around the barrel (possibly reverse engineered from the Auger rifle) that actually moves with it, allowing more protection while the shooter blows the crap out of your opponents, or actually plants a permanent shield in front of you. In either case I do know that it is the Alt-fire, and it is powered by your kills.

yeah, the focus really was cheap, and anyone who doesn't think so, why do you think that? and if you say the enemie kept goin in and out of cover, thats not an excuse, just put the reticle where his head is going to be

There was more to it than that, though. The Hybrids and the steelheads both had supreme aim, so whenever you slowed down time, you also slow down your movement speed, and you were still likely to get shot. If you think about it, it was ultimately neccesary to allow you to slow down time during Sniper fire, as you would have no chance of using it effectively otherwise.

You hope. I loved the first game, but how many games have been a disappointment on some level with the PS3? GTA, MGS, SC4. None have blown me away like I'd hoped. The only game that makes the PS3 worth having is WARHAWK.
I got so freakin' scared of the first one and never finished it(sounded like a five yeah old....)but i think that Resistance 2 will be the gears of war 2 for Ps3
Blazing Angel: I got so freakin' scared of the first one and never finished it(sounded like a five yeah old....)but i think that Resistance 2 will be the gears of war 2 for Ps3
But its actually ' bigger '. Gears of war 2 just adds people into the background that make you think your having combat with them.
Well hands down Resistance 2 is gonna be the best FPS this year (Mainly cause it seems to be the only FPS this year - its competition are Turok and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, both of which vie for the spot as worst FPS ever made). It also has sufficient potential and already known information to make it the best Shooter this year. Will it top MGS IV and LittleBigPlanet to make Game of the Year? Who can say?
