Since the first day I bought an xbox I have owned this game and am still playing it after nearly 2 years, I think mainly because I have not seen any other game that offers a 3rd person tactical shooter that is as fun to play or as competetive as gears. The feeling you get after being the last person on your team but still winning 4 vs 1 I have yet to feel on any other game.

But I am in a circle where most of my friends play and love gears also, and all cant wait for gears of war 2.

I am curious to know what other peoples thought are on the series and if it is really a game that people love, Or am I Just a niche in the gaming community.

Err. I'm not one for random fanboy baiting so I'm just going to say it's not my sort of game and leave it at that.

What, good you mean Phoenix you jerk!

(I understand what you mean, though I really enjoyed it, though it wasn't without faults. We'll see if these are ironed out in 2)

Bought the first one used and then traded it in after playing it for a few hours. Didn't like it

I personally enjoyed the game for the most parts on and offline. I have my few gripes with the game but it is overall and exceptional shooter with good solid controls and for the most part, enjoyable gameplay. The cover system could be less glitchy, and of coarse my biggest gripe with the game, the weapons. Single player they are fine, but when you jump onto the multilayer, the weapons lack consistency, and that pisses me off a lot as it leads to too many WTFBS kills. Overall though it's a fun game and that's all that matters.

It didn't hold my attention too long, unlike COD4, you don't get rewarded much for playing aside from achievements.

I played through it, and graphically, it was very nice, but I wasn't too impressed with the story. I might pick it up at some point, but I'm not counting the days to release.

Gears has had a good, long life. It's still in the Live Top 10, so it must still draw a good audience. I'll probably buy Gears 2 on launch week.

I'm definetly one of the 360 fanboys that loved Gears. I wasn't fanatical about it, but I certainly played plenty of it for a long time. After all, it was the first game I played when I first got my 360 (Ah, what a magical day). Definetly looking forward to GOW2, mostly to flesh out the story. Then again, the first one did fine without any story whatsoever, so as long as it's a really good game the story doesn't matter so much I guess.

Didn't like the first gears but the second one seems to be shaping up to be pretty good, at least compared to the first.

I loved Gears. Not for the story, which was terrible. Definitely not for the bland color scheme or the 6-hour gameplay time. Not for the unlikeable characters. I really, really didn't love those smacktards in multiplayer who play the whole game running straight at me shooting the shotgun from the hip and wondering why they keep falling down and dying when I shoot out their legs with the lancer from cover.

I loved the gameplay, and the fact that it was a fun shooter that was *not* first person and emphasized cover. I loved the guns, where there weren't very many but each one had a very specific purpose and use, and I never get tired of the torque bow. I liked the perfect reloads and gun jams. It's a game where the gameplay style just kinda resonated with me, to such a degree that I was able to beat it on Insane in about 6-7 hours only dying six times (and three of them were on RAAM).

I'll definitely be buying Gears 2.
