I heard about it a while ago. Not interested. Don't have a PSP, and it doesn't have Auron.

Old news...
I heard rumors about this some years ago.

Meh, I'm a fan of the Final Fantasy( replaying FF4 right now), but I am probably just going to skip this. All it looks like is Square trying to cash in on some fanboys. All their fighting games have been pretty sub par. If they announce a sequel to Vargant Story then I might get excited.

Yeah..yeah.. I guess you're right. It could be worse. They could call it Ehrgeiz 2.

I felt Ehrgeiz was actually a decent game. It had it's issues, but it was fun nonetheless. Hell, I would rather play it than Street Fighter.

Y'know, when I heard about it...I was hoping for something along the lines of this:

Oh well *sigh*...

Also in that actual trailer in the OP...was that Heihachi at the start? Speaking I mean?

Hmm. I'd probably buy it just to kick Tidus' ass half a million times.

Though before I say for sure if I'm going to get it, I'd like to see the full roster of characters. Looks... interesting, at least.

I have known about this game for some time, and after seeing actual game play footage I find it to be a promising game. It may be fan service but it's still a cool idea, so I'm going to remain optimistic about it. It looks amazing for a PSP game and the fighting looks fun, pretty much taking the best aspects of smash bros and soul calibur and melding them into a quite possibly fun game. Of coarse this isn't going to stop the many haters from bashing the game and making the same usual comments we hear all to much. I will be picking this up on release day, looks fun and hopefully IS fun.

Oh and as for the roster, it is supposed to be the hero and villain from FF 1-10, with maybe the possibility of unlockable characters. I really want Kain, Auron, Zack, and maybe even Ramza & Delita to be unlockables...boy woudl that be great.

The good thing about Dissidia is that most of the characters are from Amano´s years.

Geez, took them long enough to do anything with this. This was huge news about two years ago, I figured it was just a passing idea when I didn't see anything about it since.

Blasphemy! Streetfighter rules!

didn't looked to fancy from the trailer kinda like that Castlevania thing they are doing. Just lame.

I had a lot of fun with Ehrgeiz. There were tonnes of game modes, really neat characters...if fighting wasn't your thing, there was even a decent dungeon crawling RPG! So fun.

I enjoyed Ehrgeiz also, but long gone are the days of me buying a Sony console JUST to play a FF games. I Don't own a PSP and I have no intention of getting one.

My impressions of video clips are that it's gunna be pretty similar to the DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi series but with FF characters pasted in.

I just really don't see the point in spending time on a game like this (which would be an awesome party beat em up) and release it on the shit-brick, sorry; the PSP.

This is indeed old news, but whatever. The game looked mediocre when they first showed it a couple of years back, but it's looking a lot better now.

I'm interested in the moves the characters will have, especially the ones that use magic. I mean is Ultimecia gonna use shock waves as her standard attack? Same deal with Kuja. Hopefully they don't pull a Super Smash Bros. on us and have clone characters, that would really kill it considering that the villians and protagonists are all so different from each other game to game.

I would love for them to have some epic battle arena's, maybe some fights on the tops of airships? A Balamb Garden stage where you fight in the middle of that awesome war that occured? Perhaps a burning Nibelheim? The possibilites for coolness in this regard are endless.

Am I the only one who noticed that Kefka REALLY looks like the recent joker?

What's the point of having a final fantasy fighting game without Setzer... Sheesh.

The hell do you mean what did they do to him!? Thats how he ALWAYS was, go back and play FF6, he always looked like a oddly dressed joker. I hope the English voice of him is as crazy and twisted as the jap voice, brought such a smile to my face to see that bastard brought into the 3d realm.

he's been brought to the 3d realm before.

I'll admit, the new one definately looks better then that.. but I always saw Kefka as more regal, and a lot less like a court jester.

But that's just my interpretation, you're entitled to your own.

didn't look like a fighting game, and more of a Fire Emblem-esque game, like Tactics i think? I saw units being moved by squares, very turn based looking. Anyways, I'm not the biggest FF Fan, but it's got Squall in it, IMO the coolest character in FF, either that or Zell. Yeah, both from FF8, I hate the FF7 characters, Sephiroth is not that evil, nor bad-ass, and Cloud shouldn't be able to wield that sword. That seriously bugs me. Well, it might be worth a look at when it comes out, who knows... Definitely a fan service though :P

your favorite character is Squall.. and you're complaining the validity of a giant sword, when Squall's weapon of choice has no grounding in reality at all?

At least Clouds weapon, while heavy, would function

Actually a gunblabe would work. It would be terribley inaccurate by the games design. But if you think about it, it's nothing more than an over exhagerrated beyonette (sp?).
I mean, look at Soul Calibur. Cervantes has a gun blade and it works fine. :D
And Clouds weapon is modeled after the Zweiheinder, or Two Hander. They were large, decorative, HEAVIER THAN YOU THINK, and difficult to sharpen.

On closer analysis, it does look like it has POTENTIAL. The Combat seems more in the vein of Kingdom hearts, which isn't necessarily bad.

I have concerns about that chessgrid scheme though. I think this may turn out to be something like a revamped version of Super Robot Wars, instead it'll be Super Final Fantasy Wars though. (SRW is a Strategy RPG in the vein of FFT, with Giant Robots from almost any discernable anime series)

Did you just try and tell me that a "gunblade would work"?

And I still see "Cloud's weapon is modeled after a real weapon"

No, I said it COULD work, and horribley inaccurate. You could run the barrel ontop of the blade instead of on the side. Tadah, instant gunblade.
And Cloud's sword is not modeled after a real weapon, it's modeled after a piece of art. A Zweiheinder was never used as a sword, just decoration. You show me a guy who can swing one effectively, and I'll show you a man with more back poblems then Dolley Pardhon.

I wasn't even really arguing that cloud's weapon is realistic.

I was just pointing out that standing next to Squall and decrying Cloud's weapon as unrealistic is just silly.

I never thought I'd say this, but you play too many games.

Whoa, wikipedia'd.

Anyway, I'll yield the wikiarticle to you. But I do have to inform you brother man, I DO play too many video games. WAY too many.
And yes I understand your point, they're both ridiculous, but a gunblade would still be pretty sweet....In Fact, I must go investigate my nerf and airsft rifles.

Mmmm... Bushido Blade was a really good game. 2 kinda really sucked cuz they took away the parts that made it so good.

I also kinda liked the battle arena in Xenogears.

Square has thrown all kinds of genres at us. We've seen racing games, fighting games, Simulation, side scrolling shooter, sports, cards, MMORPGer, and of course, their many classic rpgs.

Worked for Nintendo, and how.

If I had a PSP, I'd be interested in this.I've been meaning to immerse myself in the FFverse for a while
