If you haven't heard already, Microsoft cut the prices of their 360's again arcade:$200 60gb pro:$300 120gb elite:$400
Do you think this will help boost its sales? Or is it a mistake? I personally have a ps3 and even after the price cut I'm still not all that interested in buying one.
That would be because you have a PS3. Not a cry of "fanboy" or anything, it just seems like owning both would be kinda pointless. Unless you really want those three exclusives, just buy one.
I think it's definately a smart move to lower their prices, it's always a smart move to do that.
I'm sortof considering getting a 360, but after some though I basically just realized that I'm not all that interested in most of it's games and I'm much more satisfied with my PS3. Granted, if I got a 360 I could very well play it just as much as my PS3 and have all the consoles to experience all of their benefits, but after some thinking I just don't know what I would get from the 360 that I would enjoy.
but after this price drop, I may get it sometime in the sortof near future.
i know a wii ps2 and 360 still wait for the ps3 price drop so i can snatch metal gear solid 4 and play it or i could just ask my friend he seems bored with his ps3, but back to the point buy the pro revision cause you still have cash left over for some games.
I myself can see a problem about this. The 360 has built an image around itself that doesn't coincide well with cheap. It is a luxury item, and tries to convey this, and cutting the price might actually hurt sales. Theres a phrase for this in economics, but I can't remember what it is.
Decoy Doctorpus: I'll say it again. Unless you own (at some point) all three consoles. You are not a gamer.
You forgot PC :p
No I didn't. PC, 360, PS3. What's the other one?
The Wii, for games in the same vein as Madworld
By 'same vein' I assume you mean um... no more heroes and uh... hmmmm.
Just kidding. Although it is quite telling that my wii has been sitting in a hair curler box for the past 3 months.
I thought we agreed that a smaller numnber of decent games did not excuse not having it - thats why, according to you, to be a true gamer, you''ll need a 360 even if you have a PC.

I wasn't saying there was a smaller number of decent games. Just that the blood + gore action adventure genre isn't exactly stuffed to the fucking brim. Straw man argument deflected.

Fixed.
Ok seriously man even if it's a joke don't go changing people's posts. It's basically the same thing as sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting "LA LA LAAA, CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
I don't mind that. It's just the Escapist doesn't have a resident wii fanatic. So a little wii poking doesn't harm anyone. But when you start on the 360 it brings all the internet warriors out of the woodwork. Then the ps3 loyalists must rally their faithful to defend their chosen console from the barbarian hordes. Then we all decide the internet is pointless and go outside for some fresh air.

The ending is always happy. <3.
I still stand by my opinion your essentially getting most(and more) that the 360 can offer with a decent gaming PC. Minus about 30 games, about 8 of which are decent.

Yeah, we do need a Resident Wii fanatic (if my friend would just register!) though it is hard to argue anything with or against it.
Ya know, I'm kind of sick of all these price cuts, and what the hell is with the "arcade" bundle? No hard drive? People buy that thing? How does it even save games? What will my next question be?
Anyway, reason I'm sick of the price cuts is because they have had so many and yet it only goes to this "minimum price" and goes back up again. Now, I'm not saying that's a bad business idea but it just gets on my nerves because it feels like the thing should be 100 bucks by now after so many price cuts. Then of course, add another 50 bucks on the price tag if you want any online capabilities. Sure you can get silver, but you are treated so bad ;_;
Haha, good move from my point of view, I don't own one, just a memory unit which I use to play off my friends xbox. If they lower it enough i'll buy one myself, hahahaha

The arcade console comes with a 512 mb memory card and a disc with 5 full xbox live arcade games. It's not really that bad of an option for some people. However, my dad bought one because our first 360 got the RROD and it was out of warranty. So, we still had a working hard drive, and just popped that into the arcade console. Also, you could save $40 by getting the arcade console and then getting a used 360 hard drive.

Price cut is bad? Well then I hope you don't get your way with gas prices.

So, the arcade console has plenty of purpose.
I had no idea you could put a hard drive into the 360, do you use an external?

Well, it's always good to cut the price, but I may well suspect that they intended to do all that all along. It's like, say, the 360 actually didn't cost much to manufacture, but they thought "Hey, let's put higher prices, then cut them so people will think it's a better deal!" as though they were worried that the other consoles would do better when they were out.
Personally, I envy you for having a PS3 (I am sooo desperate for Ratchet and Clank), but think about this, would you envy me if I said that my roommate is bringing his XBox360 up here sometime soon?
