Despite it's looks, it's actually an extremely good game. Subtle it's not.

It does look fun, i'll admit that.

Devil May Cry 3, Mass Effect, Portal, and though some people may disagree, I liked Sapphiron and Kel'Thuzad from 'Vanilla' World of Warcraft. Say what you like about the rest of the game and it's faults, those fights are epic.

Set up your program right and you could leave it for the most part. It was a major failing with the game. I liked the gambit system, but once you had the skills and gambit slots, you could set up all of your characters to self-buff, self-heal, self-res and use an attack/spell setup which won you every fight. It was less of a journey in play and more of a moving characters from one encounter to another. For boss fights it was a little different, but again, you could tailor your gambits to the boss' abilities. I loved and hated the gambit system.

Best fight ever for me was in Ninja Gaiden 2 when you fight Genshi in the burning tower, it was so hard as it was the first time id played NG but it was awesome none the less.

I go with the fight at the end of DMC3 and Mass Effect, both fantastic, but in different ways...
And the final boss fight in Elite Force

Super Mario 64 - but being my first "real" 3D boss fight, I may have glorified memories of the battle.

Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask/Incarnation/Wrath.
Probably the only part of the game that was better than Ocarina of Time. Fighting Ganondorf in OOT was good but Majora was more fast paced and gripping.

And was uncannily like Micheal Jackson.

The end of Portol, because its the one boss fight I've actually enjoyed. Most just seem like a boring task, but the dialouge was hilarious.

The final giant from Shadow of the Colossus, AKA Thor.
Bolts of lighting crashing inches behind you as desperately try and stay behind cover and make your way to him. Then when you do get to him you have another epic climb waiting for you.

Edit: or was it Zeus? It's one of those lighting gods >.>

First God of War.

The boss fight with Ares is meh, but having spent hours upon hours struggling through Pandora's Temple, climbing out of the underworld (granted, Kratos does it in every game, but still), killing your arch-enemy, and then ascending the steps of Olympus to take your throne just feels awesome.

For those of you that know the myth series, the death of Balor ranks up there as best boss fights of all time.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rl6afK8TDkE here's a link. And here's the setting:

The entire legion has been destroyed to allow your commander (Alric, the guy in brown) and a few of his best troops to sneak up behind Balor's fortress and draw him out. He takes the bait, and now Alric and his few remaining men must take down the greatest warrior to have ever walked the earth...

Ooo, that's a good one too.
Nyx is a crazy long fight.
Losing to the final phase 2 hours in is such a kick in the balls....

Chrono trigger's Lavos

There are many paths to victory over lavos and as the game progresses you so start to hate that thing, and when you finally beat it, after a well balanced battle, it just feels... right. Like a victory.

I also love the end boss of Link's Awaking(GB/GBC) But then again that whole game is masterpiece.

In terms of Story? Mass Effect, Half Life 2 (the original not the episodes), and maybe Kotor 1. In terms of the fight however, I would have to say Portal.

...was that the one where you fought the sentient blob of darkness in an egg? One of only two times you haven't ended up facing Ganon?

I think Heavenly Sword deserves a mention.

THAT is how you end a game.

The ending fight in God of War was fantastic. Granted, a pain in the arse at times, but goddamn it was epic.

But nothing tops the final boss fight in Shadow Hearts for me.

Holeee shit.

I dunno why, but the MGS4 ending in which you slug it out with Liquid was the best moment in the game for me. Such a dramatic ending adds to it.

The CoD4 ending was alright too. That quick ass drive down the highway, blowing up shit as you go along, then having to pop all those guys with the pistol was always so much fun. I get really immersed into that moment for some reason

I also vote for the Nyx fight, it's incredible. I love the dialogue it gives you each time it changes Arcana, the fight is just plain epic.
