I still don't see how people hear about things like this and think videogames caused it. The kid pointed a rifle at himself and pulled the trigger! Tens of millions of people play this game, and this one kid kills himself. I really don't see how anyone could think it's the game.

I don't see how he would try to re-create Halo and shoot himself. That doesn't make any sense at all.

I would blame the parents on this one. If you have a child in the house and have a gun, not only should the gun be unloaded but it should be locked up. The fact that neither of those were true shows how irresponsible the parents are. Just because he happened to be playing Halo doesn't mean that it should be blamed on games.

I never really blame guns when a kid accidently shoots himself or someone else.
Instead I ask where the f were his parents?
and why weren't they watching their kid who was home from school.
AND where the f did the kid get the gun (already asked i know) and
why didn't they notice.

How the hell did an 11 year old get his hands on a loaded rifle? Jessuss. Yeah it was definitely halos fault.

who on earth in their lesser than right mind taught a kid how to even remove a magazine from a rifle. It's baffling to think even how an 11 year old managed to shoot himself while trying to reinact halo, firstly for the fact that you can in no way kill yourself with anything but the bulky rockets or grnades and what have you, but what even gave him the subtle thought of pointing the damn thing at himself to begin with???

I fully agree with you. I guess it's though for the parents to acknowledge that probably their negligence killed their kid, so blaming a game is the easy way (and very much fashionable lately).

Wow, this is just...well, idiotic? I don't know how to describe this, but there is a chance that the kid was playing hooky for all we know, even if it does say "Taken the day off school" that could just be the way it seemed.

But if that's not the case, then this is a text book example of horrible parenting/horrible gun placement.

the Mature, and teen Labels they put there, are there for a Reason, a 11 year old kid should be Playing Lego star wars, now that this has happened the Advocites of 'violence in games is wrong' will have more Fodder, but it makes You wonder, how do they know he was Recreating the Halo action with a real rifle. if someone was around to see that, whouldent you think they whould stop him?, its a Guess, a simple guess, the boy could have found said rifle and wanted to look at it(why was it not under lock and key?, or unloaded with the Ammo under lock and key) there were things that Could have been done to Prevent this, but there either getting blurred or overlooked now cause it did.

How is it possible to accidentally shoot yourself with a rifle, I can understand having the gun go off and kill someone else but........ yourself, how can you without purpose and intent; of course he could just be so stupid that he pointed the rifle at himself and pulled the trigger after his halo "reenaction"

that is unfortunatly nothing special on a recent trip to califonia I saw a parent at a firing range teaching his 9 year old dauter how to load unload and fire a shotgun at a human shaped target.

Being from Wisconsin I can safely say this
1. our 11 year olds are dumber and more impressionable then most
2. We have guns everywhere here
3. He got a loaded rifle becuase his ignorant parents don't know how to use a fucking gun case.

This is not the guns fault, this is not the games fault. As always, it's the parents' fault.
