Gone Gonzo Posts: 2943 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | Well, if you're more interested in the DS and what games it has to offer, get a DS. I'm going to get a PSP sometime soon because A) I never play my DS even with really good games for the handheld and B) I really want some of the games the PSP has. So if you want a DS, get a DS. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 437 Joined: 10 Aug 2008 | Too much nastolgia on the DS- I you love it live it. Games on PSP are good graphically, but the requirement to buy movies in a mini-disc form leaves that medium pretty much useless (you don't here ANYONE bragging about how many PSP mini-discs they have). Plus, from what I have heard, it's just not practical to watch a movie on the PSP. |
Beat Writer Posts: 213 Joined: 31 Aug 2008 | the DS is more fun, easy to hold, not long loading times and long battery-life. and it as award-wining games on it. so Get the DS bra! |
Paperboy Posts: 34 Joined: 30 Aug 2008 | I've got about two dozen DS games and only four PSP games, so you can probably guess my advice. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1522 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | DS has a large library of fun games that can be played on the go, including half of the good Castlevania's of the past 2-3 years. The PSP has... Well it plays movies. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1847 Joined: 13 Feb 2008 | DS, but if the PSP ever gets another analog, then go for it. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2943 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | I have to say, I'm not totaly surprised that the PSP has some negative feedback from here with "it has...movies" and stuff like that. I could list twice as many PSP games than DS games I would want. But I'll just leave it there, don't want to turn this into a flame war (even if this comment is sortof like flame bait...) |
BANNED Posts: 530 Joined: 31 Jul 2008 | I have both, and always find myself using the DS. I swear I've charged my DS fewer times in the two years I've had it than my PSP I've had since January. I like the PSP because I can use the internet with it, but the the battery is abysmal and there's only a few games that interest me (Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, God of War, and I tried FF:CC but found it terrible). The DS is backwards compatible with all my old GBA games, which lets me have 5 different Castlevania adventures everywhere I go (8 combining the three that come with the Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP which I always have with me anyway). Quite simply, I have a lot more fun with my DS. User was banned for: Atheism is HILARIOUS!. (3 days) |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2943 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | Wait, DS using flash cards or PSP using flash cards? Cause either way I don't know, but if the DS could use flash cards it's going to get a healthy revival from me. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 59 Joined: 29 Aug 2008 | yes, it can, search up about the acekard2 because it looks pretty real to me... oh, yeah, i am talking about the ds... |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 660 Joined: 15 Jun 2008 | I think it depends on your willingness to break the law. On it's own the PSP is a piece of junk with mostly crappy overpriced games. It does have a few gems like Patapon and Loco Roco, but aside from that it's not as good as the DS. BUT!!! If you happen to know someone with a hacked PSP who has can hack your PSP for you and you don't mind breaking the law then the PSP really shines. With a hacked PSP and a copy of WinRAR you can access a plethora of games that don't really belong on the PSP. Like original Playstation games, old school NES, SNES, and N64 games. Gameboy and Gameboy advance. Personally I played through the original Silent Hill games for the first time and it was definately worth the download. Oddly enough the only game I've downloaded that belongs on the PSP (That I then kept) is one I bought. (It was stolen from me so I feel it is well within my rights to download it again.) Anyways, if you don't want to break the law then you should probably stick with the DS. The PSP isn't worth it unhacked. |

PROBATION Posts: 2827 Joined: 21 Aug 2008 | You can use a flash cart to watch videos and stuff (and run a whole bunch of homebrew apps), but that's not usually what they are used for. Besides, video watching on anything smaller than 10" is a waste of time :] User was put on probation for: Poll: CoD: WaW. Its got major issues.. (3 days) |

I promise this will be the last post I will do in this thread (because I'm sure I'll turn it into a flame war if I continue) but when was the last time you've seen a Hanna Montana/That's So Raven/High School Musical game on the PSP?
Wait...what? Okay, you're confusing me, you want to watch movies and listen to music yet your acknolaging the option that has non of those options. Even with those flash cards you mentioned, why would you want to watch movies and listen to music on it anyway? If you want to have those options, wouldn't the PSP be more to your taste in those option and a DS for the gaming options? |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2943 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | You'd be surprised >_>; The DS has Babysitting sims and Petz games. All I'm saying is that the PSP does have good games, I'd list them (10+ games that interest me but not necisarily you, but you could look into them more) but I don't want to get off track. |

The DS works very well for music actually; I've used it for a simple and easy sound source at dance parties when I happen to not bring my laptop. And let's not forget, the flash carts like the CycloDS aren't tied down to horrible proprietary flash memory formats like everything Sony makes. microSDHC cards still substantially cost less than their MSPD equivalents and the best part is that they are extremely useful regardless of what brand product you're using them with. well, your kinda right, i didnt mention much about the games, the games on the ds interest me alot... no, not the kid games... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2943 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 |
I get that (well, I slightly don't, I forget what is what sometimes), but when you think of DS do you really think "can it play music and movies"? It's a bit confusing to me, especially since the PSP is sort of an all-in-one device considerably cheap (especially if you look into the bundles). Though, when I get a PSP I have no intention of putting music or movies on it, why would I consider putting them on my DS? Though to clarify, I don't care what you get. Get the system that interests you (and please don't by the That's So Raven game for your siblings...) and go for it. I personally made the mistake of buying a DS just because my friend had one and I wanted to get in on the action (plus, I fell for the "PSP HAZ NO GAMEZ!!" thing everyone else did.) Though I will always love Elite Beat Agents :3 |

I dunno, what was the point? I know I'd be to lazy to go through the work that it would seem to take just to make my DS play movies and music even though I'm sure I'd barely use the option if any times at all (I have an iPod for that stuff anyway) And god damnit, I did fail that "last post" thing didn't I? Oh bonkers. Oh well. I'm not trying to push the PSP on you guys, it just sortof clicks my brain when I see some of this stuff. By all means, if you want a DS go get one, I won't begrudge you for that, but don't believe everything some of these people are saying (including me I guess) |

Press Junketeer Posts: 485 Joined: 22 Aug 2008 | I couldn't live without my PSP It plays all my music, holds all my photos, plays some sweet games (plus you can mod it like i did to put like SEGA, SNES, PS1, etc. games on it) also you can upload movies in mp4 format onto it and watch them through there...and just to add to it, you can also surf the internet if theres a wireless connection nearby. I love my PSP |

If you consider that to be a lot of work, I'm amazed you were able to get anything on your iPod anyway! Either way, iPods are total fail for portable movie viewing too. People should just save their money and get an MSI Wind or something. User was put on probation for: Poll: CoD: WaW. Its got major issues.. (3 days) |

Your logic and reason frightens and confuses me. Whats happened to the internets? Where are the fanboys comparing me to Hitler!? I see this as more of a "Help me waste my money" thread then a Vs thread, especially considering the absense of vitriol. |
