Gone Gonzo Posts: 2034 Joined: 16 May 2008 | Truthfully, the video didn't even contain that much information, and in the end, I don't think the narrators got it, or they were trying to make a joke that failed. The idea is giving small rewards consistently for doing menial tasks, which is a decent idea I suppose, but the installing WoW/Warhammer on computers and raiding together didn't seem to fit with the idea they were trying to peddle. |

I wasn't quoting a standard, I was giving you some suggestions for your thread to be more successful |

I would totally agree with him if everything he said wasn't total, complete and utter rubbish. I could see a lot of bad productivity if people played games at work, and rewards and status would lead to envy, bragging and dischord in the office e.g. why didn't I get rewarded? |

I agree, given that this was a video as well, some additional explanation as to what we were about to watch would have been dandy. Or better yet, maybe coming up with an actual opinion or thought on the subject other than "messed up...good idea". This article did not say anything. It made fun of MMO players by including that clip of a fat slovenly Cartman and while it suggested putting an MMO on employees computers it did not say to what end. Is that the reward, playing MMO's, or are they suggesting developing practical software that forms repetitive business tasks into an MMO styled of interface or are they suggesting business world promotion be handled in an incremental style similar to MMO leveling or did they just say nothing at all? What does the book the video was about have to say on the subject? I know you didn't read it, but maybe you should have at least signed it out of the library first. As it stands we're not really left with much to talk about other than the quality of your thread. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 59 Joined: 29 Aug 2008 | as you can see i changed it. What they are talking about is making a reward system for everyday work tasks, and they decided this had something in common with mmo's. As for the quality of my thread, oh well, i am knew to this site, thought this was something worth talking about because it had to do with gaming... Now, on to the point that i didnt read the book... well, there isnt anything to talk about, because that is exactly right, i didnt read the book. i saw this video and wondered what people on this forum would think about it so i posted it |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2034 Joined: 16 May 2008 | it would be funny to see some arbitrary thing like experience levels go into place in an office environment just imagine, you could have this on your resume: Level 37 staff clerk |

While that staff clerk is a decent level, most workplaces are looking for people who multi-class. |

But monks are so awesome you don't NEED to multiclass. |

Using small rewards to try and get people to do more work in the office is a good idea, but comparing it wow is kind weird.
Is this society come too? This could actually could be a good idea...
what do you think?
