At the risk of ban (amateur topic-creator), I decided to post this.
Fallout 3 looks frigging awesome, and I am seriously considering buying the survival editon.
I'm a fan (played fallout 2 before), no fanboy, fan of beth also, but in my currency, survival editon will cost me $175 in local currency. That's around $200 after adding shipping.
So, I, as a student, I ask you forum friends, should I shell out that much money for fallout 3?
Besides, I'm not rich, and my allowance is not alot too...
Here are the stats.

Features Standard Collector's Survival
Game Disc & Manual Yes Yes Yes
Bonus DVD No Yes Yes
Concept Artbook No Yes Yes
Vault Boy Bobblehead No Yes Yes
Lunchbox Case No Yes Yes
PIP-Boy 3000 Clock No No Yes

I really want the pipboy clock but is shelling out 50USD really worth it?

This game is probably going to be the biggest flop in the world, given all of the hype. But answering your question:

Collector's Edition sounds the best if you really want extra stuff. An extra $50 for a clock seems like a rip off. Personally it's just the DVD that I would like in the Collector's. But I wouldn't pay an extra $20 for that either. I would get the normal version.

For the short amount of time I played Oblivion, it bored the hell out of me. And... this looks really, really similiar. Guess it's just not my kind of game.

I'm buying the Collector's Edition for the 360. My PC isn't good enough to justify buying the PC version.

EDIT: I'll be getting the normal.

Probably be buying the normal edition. Knowing my brother and his addiction to buying collectors editions, he'll get that and skip out on the Survival Edition, but I'll stick to normal thanks.

A huge flop indeed it may be, I am tempted to go on about what made the first 2 cult classics and draw comparisons, but that game hasn't been released yet. The only observation I can make is that Bethsda isn't known for it's biting irony and wit, which was one of the appealing factors of the first game.

I'll probably get the collectors edition, because I'm a massive sucker for good packaging... I'm a little bit nervous about pre-ordering a game that may flop horribly though.

I'll probably pirate it like i always do and once the price is a tad down and when I can afford it, I'll pay up. I always do that and I don't feel the slightliest shame in doing it.
They'll get their money from me one way or another.

I doubt it will 'flop horribly'.

Bethesda isn't exactly taking any risks with it.

It will be released, a bunch of people will buy it, us old Fallout fans will complain about how it isn't Fallout (but we'll still play it), and all the Oblivion fans will be happy since it's a sequel to it.

Rent it. 80 hours of oblivion still wasn't worth the money.
