I have once been to a lan where we played diablo 2. We blasted through the entire game in like 6 hours. |

I am the black sheep of the family, and they never let me forget it T.T ... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1366 Joined: 5 May 2008 | Nerdiest gaming moment ever was when I went off on a rant about the physics systems in modern games, how many of them break Newton's laws. Citing each law and giving examples of a game that had broken it some way. I was greeted by blank stares from a group of people who had no idea what the fuck I was talking about. A bit off topic, but aside from gaming, my nerdiest moment EVER, was when I tried to explain how infinite improbability works to a group of my friends, and actually made them understand it. (Those of you who don't know what infinite improbability is, read The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy) |

Since I was able to talk, I've been saying things from games and watching other peoples faces go blank. Now I do it for kicks, and throw in a dorky voice while I'm at it. |

But one time in science my teacher said something to the extent that gravity is a fact that can't be disproven. I then went off about how Newton's gravity can't exist with Einstein's relative theory because objects falling in relativity, fall on a curve and do not need a starting force to set the fall in motion. They fall via inertia. Most every kid in that class looked at me like I was fucking crazy. |

Slightly, IF you're female. If you're male however... My nerdiest moment must've been when I played Farcry during one evening. It was totally dark and watching Alien as a teenager has given me a slight phobia for crawling in ventilation systems. I explore one of these dark vents with my flashlight, that happens to be shaped like a Z, with a dead end in it. I turn around and - obviously - one of those frigging mutant gorillas comes charging at me. The bastard had tracked me. I scream out loud in my little student room and blasts away with my machine gun, emptying the clip. As I exhale, another frigging gorilla comes charging around the corner. I scream out even louder, as I haven't reloaded yet. I panick and quickly presses quickload. Now, the reason why this fealt very nerdy was I had forgotten to close the door to my room. It was more than one in the student corridor who was wondering wtf was going on. Awkward. |

I had to demand silence from my niece and nephew, else I had to restart the tape. My niece used to make fun of me for that - but I think it is what developed my taste in music towards electronic/techno type stuff. I could name just about any NES game by the music. |

What's the most "nerdy" thing you've ever done as a gamer, the things that not only confuse non-gamers but even make those who partake of the hobby think "that dude's hardcore...or completely out of his mind"?
I ask because I'm in the middle of a Paradox 900. For those who aren't Pdox gamers, what that means is you start a game of Crusader Kings, use the save-game portability tool to port the save into Europa Universalis 2, use a fan-made converter to convert the save to Victoria: Revolutions, and use Paradox's save game porter to port THAT save to Hearts of Iron II. By playing the same country for all four games, you trace a continuous line for a country in Europe from 1066 all the way forward to 1964 (with only a 15-year gap between the end of EU2 at the end of 1820 and the beginning of Victoria in 1836.) My wife sees what I've done with the Count of Yaroslavl (in CK) who is now, through a series of interesting events, the King of Sweden, and she just rolls her eyes. And she plays EVE Online and WoW, so it's not like she's a non-gamer.
Incidentally, the above 900-year track takes about 150-200 hours, or "a month and change at a full-time job."
EDIT: initial post was missing five words that were needed to make it make sense.
