I've been curious as to what people see as pros or cons to each system, as well as if it's possible to have an actual debate about the 3 next-gen systems, rather than a fanboy slapfest. So lets see if the Escapist can help quell my curiosity. Debate, away!

I always thought graphics were good enough last generation. It is like the whole blu ray thing. Not enough of a difference to justify the price tag. (Or in my case blu-ray Beta max.)

Well, I thought that if it would happen anywhere, it would be here, as I haven't seen any of the usual crap that forums usually have appear on the escapist yet. So, lets remain hopeful, or time how long until the first sign of fanboys appears.

I would have said PS3, if it were ever likely that I'd be willing to spend that much money on stuff I'll never use. As for the Wii, it's a good idea but everyone I know who has one barely flicks the... whatever they're calleds. Also, Nintendo has the tendancy to release shit games like Mario fourty-billion and twenty. Much better to stick with the 'tards console.

I was reffering to the players more than the movies themselves. And paying $30 instead of $20 when I dont own an hd tv is kinda stupid anyway.

Really I say Wii is the best, just because it has games that are actually fun. The Playstation 3 has barely any games. Most of the popular ones are still lame. Xbox 360 has a few good games, but those are on PC. So if you have a PC don't even bother with the 360. If you enjoy shooters then the Wii probably isn't for you.

If you have something informative or interesting to say about a console don't be afraid to post a new thread. These A vs. B threads are rarely informative and only serve to divide the community.

I prefer the 360, myself. It is affordable, and has a decent variety of games. Also, the controller is comfortable. Besides, I'm not comfortable needing to install a game on my console. O_o

I prefer the 360 because i have one. Plus i just cannot use PS controllers, they are horrible. Never played on a wii, the concept doesnt appeal to me, just looks like a fancy eye toy (which i got bored of after bout an hour)

I owned a PS2 previously, but could not bring myself to sink the funds necessary into a PS3. I bought a 360 because generally the games are about $10 cheaper, the console was hundreds of dollars cheaper and the controllers are comfortable. A great selection of games and although it had to be resurrected after RRoDing, its working fine. I also think that the exclusives are generally better, the PS3 ones don't seem to live up to expectations, at least until God of War 3 comes out. The pluses of PS3 ownership, in my eyes, are free online play, the blue ray player and, as mentioned, a few exclusives. Also, is it just me or does anyone know of a person who only plays a Wii? Everyone I know who has one regularly uses another gaming system. The Wii, to me, is like pictionary, you play it at parties with other people. Playing it alone is just doodling, not actually gaming (please excuse me if this analogy made no sense whatsoever).
