I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick and fucking tired of getting a new game, trying to learn how to play online, and getting booted because "I suck." Well no shit I suck. I got this game like two days ago. What do you want me to do about it? It's not like I can practice getting better because I get kicked from every game I join. Especially on ranked games, where all the "pros" start new accounts so instead of getting paired with someone who's new like I am, I get paired with a bunch of people who yell at me for loosing. (Even though I'm the ONLY ONE ALIVE BECAUSE THEY ALL DIED AND EXPECT ME TO BEAT THREE PEOPLE AT ONCE.) It's especially great when the game doesn't even let you get a feel for the maps before you play, so you have no idea what you're walking in to.

This topic is both for the discussion of such events and also for those people like me, who want to get better but can't to get together. My gamertag is Postraumatic. If you suck, add me and we can practice sucking together, without having to worry about what other people think. (Innuendo not intended.) Right now I'm playing Gears of War, but I also have Halo, F.E.A.R. and TF2.

Unfortunatly you will find that alot on XBL.

It seems anyone who runs a game has a superiority complex.

If you had the PC version of TF2 i would bring you into my little server group. They are all servers which are very newb friends - any assholes get kicked pretty quick as the admins are stealthy. Unfortunatly with the 360 version you are suck with X-Child Live.

I wouldn't mind helping you out. I am quite good at all those games you mentioned other than F.E.A.R which I don't own. My gears seems to have gone on a walk about, and I can't find it anywhere. Though in fairness I have only looked for about thirty seconds. I guess what I am trying to say is that I don't mind helping you out, or just having a laugh. Gamertag: Conqueror Kenny.

not on PS3.... no one gives a crap.

I've had similar problems in the past, though they didn't go so far as getting kicked. Since I usually don't have $60 American to shell out on a game's release, I usually wait for reviews, see if the price goes down, etc. This also means that I'm six months to a year behind much of the gaming niche. It also means I'm just getting started while most of the public is on to expertise and/or second accounts

However, I can honestly tell you (for what it's worth) that once you progress at one or two shooters, it usually carries over pretty well. Adapt to Halo and you'll be decent at TF2 or COD4, and so on.

If you are over the age where you are not in fact annoying on a microphone then yes I shall allow you to bask in the glory that is my friendship. myCpUaMnts is my gamertag.

If you're okay with my voice having not changed yet, my gamertag is Spartan Bannana

I'm shit!!
Gamertag: NaMhoram

I hear that. Because I actually work 50 hours a week, have a kid, walk a dog, etc....I'm too busy with 'real life' that I usually get schooled in CoD4 when I want to play a casual game, and generally get booted because I don't have 4 hours a day to non-stop skirmish, hone my skills and trash talk incessently.

You can add AloneDisciple to your list (or anyone else).

Games I play:
CoD4, Halo 3, Crackdown, GoW, Mercs 2, GH III, AoT, RB 1 & 2

I completely mistook what this post was talking about...

If you want add me. I also have a top tip! Dont play wanting to win, just play casually, maybe surfing the forums at the same time. Everytime you die, refresh or something. Just dont care what happens. I play like this and dominate the scoreboards, whereas when I play to win, I lose almost every time. Oh yes, Gamertag is Bling Cat. Curse my ineptitude for coming up with a better alias.

This is true, but if you're switching to a new genre, it's really a pain. GoW is a shooter, but it's also third person, so for me that's really awkward getting used to. (At least for the first few times.) And a lot of the games have different styles of play, too. Try playing Halo-style in TF2 and see how long you last.

I'll add you guys.

Blah, I know what you mean. I especially hate it when the gamers that, quite frankly, have no lives start insulting the lack of skill other players have. I remember playing a game of Call of Duty 4 with this cocky little shit about a week after it came out. He was really good and rambled about how everyone else playing was terrible. I looked up his stats...And he had already accumulated over 60 hours online. Not only that, but he had a full 1000/1000 in Gamerscore for Call of Duty 4. Mind you, this was within the FIRST FUCKING WEEK of the game being out.

Excuse me for sucking at the game compared to you because, you know, I have a life outside of Xbox Live.

To me playing shooters on a console is like driving a car with your teeth...

That said, you're going to have to learn to ignore these twat mouths. Ironically they'll generally be from your own team, who will constantly whine at you for not being good enough to fix their mistakes.

Just ignore them and laugh out loud every time you kill them, nothing will make them more pissed off... Even if they kill you 50 times after, every time you kill them they cry inside.

I totally agree with this outburst. I can't play TF2, because 80% of the games I join I immediately get booted because I don't have enough experience.

How they expect me to GET experience if they keep doing that is a mystery.

Interesting, isn't it, that the online gaming community is subject to this abberation of elitism.

Since when do admins boot people for sucking? Is it only on X-Box live?

I've enjoyed many happy years of being awful at PC team-based shooters and never had a problem.

I'm meh:
XBL = "sirdanrhodes"

.. huh? Okay. I have never, ever, EVER experienced this (I play PC only, no consoles). Kicked for being too unexperienced?

What platform is this, anyway?

Yeah, good point. Playing Mass Effect was a pain for a while, as I'm sure GTA IV will be when I finally get my hands on it. I was referring mostly to controls rather than mindset, but you bring up a good point. In Halo you're pretty peachy taking half a clip, unlike nearly every other FPS.

In retrospect, it's hilarious to remember how I tried to apply Halo tactics to COD4.

If anyone is interested in hitting up some burnout paradise, my gamertag is Masterchafe7

I do ok, but generally Im pretty crappy. and if Im better than someone, I really don't give a flying fart in space, Im there to play, not whine about losing. hit me up with a friend request if you wish.

Try playing DOA4 online, I dare you.
They included a ranking system based on gaining points for how many games you win/lose, how tough your opponent is or how big your winning streak is. You start off as rank C and can go from S to F.
Excellent idea in theory, you get to play similarly skilled people by choosing your room and everything's grand. This has been let down by the fact that if you disconnect then you don't lose any points and your opponent doesn't gain any. You wouldn't even lose your streak.
Picture it, you're just stating out an you've been losing mostly but getting better. You're fighting and A rank and you win the first round. Your just about to win the second and "blah blah has left the game".

So frustrating.

Yeah, that bugs me, where your own damn team has people whining 'omg you all suck' or 'this team is f-ing useless' not seeming to realise they're on the team they're abusing, and I do believe somewhat in morale, and that if you're getting told you should just quit because you are worthless, your skill is going drop for a while.

I seem to be the only one going 'wd guys, nearly got it, keep pushing!', although its gratifying to see on many PC TF2 servers that following a hard fought round, you'll see 'gg all', if red won, they'll be saying 'gg anyway blue', stuff like that, its rare to see 'LOZ U GOT PWND BITCHEZ ROLF'

WOW! You can play online on PS3? Come to think of that...WOW, there are games on the blu-ray player?

This is one of the reasons I barely play online anymore...good to see so many people offering help though :D

*edit*
Well, that and the amount of weird comments I get if I ever talk into a mic and people figure out I'm a girl...

Maybe because it's so expensive barely anyone can afford oneOH! BURN! COPTER'S SMOKING ALL COMERS!

I would but I no longer have a 360, I would be able to help you in gears.... was probably one of the only games I was semi-decent at xD

what's up with all the fanboy-ism? it is just a console. there's no need to reduce this forum to immature fantasies of a 16yr old. just help the guy, rather than use his thread to have a go at other gamers.

Anyway to the op - try hosting your own game so you can walk around the maps to find out what they are like and where all the hiding spots are. other than practicing a lot, you could also try looking up techniques on the internet.
good luck with your gaming.

I would happily help out if i could get the Xbox connected to XBL. The current LAN us crap so i can;t get it on.

If my 360 was hooked up to XBL I'd gladly join you, since I want to play TF2 and I'm scared of all the elitist bastards everyone talks about. If I can be arsed to drag the white brick downstairs and get it hooked up to t'internet my GamerTag is DeathTrousers.

I completely suck, but I suck on the PC at the moment, mainly on TF2. As soon as I've psychologically prepared myself to bend over and pay 60 quid for a wireless adapter for my 360, I'll start sucking on that, too.

On the PC, I started playing the mod Age of Chivalry. It's a melee FPS, and can be bloody difficult. Especially since it's a mod, so there's a way of learning how far away you need to be to connect perfectly with the hitbox. A kindly man took me into a server, and, like Morpheus to neo, we trained. On the walls of Helm's Deep.

I'm going to go play AoC. It's sweet.

Also, if anyone wants to add me feel free. Gamertag in my profile.
