I used to own only a 360, and recently bought a PS3 for some of the exclusives that are going to be coming out on it (As well as the built in Blu-Ray player). So far I still love both of them, I try to alternate with multi-platform games. If I get one on the 360, I'll get the next one on the PS3 and so forth. Though with FPS games I tend to stick to 360 if possible, and once there are some multi-platform RPGs, I'll be getting those for PS3 (Habit I guess, RPGs just feel...right...on Playstation.) So yeah, for me it's double the fun. If you only want a 360 for those games you mentioned you might want to wait for the price to drop a little more.
I've got all 3, and I am glad that I do, solely so I can play all the exclusives that I really want, and overall it just makes the area around my tv look nicer, more cluttered.
it is really like buying food that constantly refills itself,if you have just one that only change periodically then you will get sick of it,i got a 360 and a PS3 though and the only thing i use my PS3 for is movies.
I'd rank them this way: 360, PS3, Wii. The 360 has a lot more games that I'm interested in (and/or a better way to play non-exclusives) but the PS3 has the occasional game that is exclusive: LittleBigPlanet, the PixelJunk games, etc.
Just out of curiosity (no, I'm not being a smart ass), what RPG's for the PS3?
What GAMES are there for the ps3 besides MGS4 period? I really want to know.
A friend of mine bought all three and he has been holding it over me that he got to play Metal Gear Solid 4 and that it is never coming out for the 360. I call BS on it never coming out for the 360. I may have to wait a year or something (like how long it took Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance to come out on Xbox), but I know it will eventually come out (hopefully ;_;). Anyway, he basically plays an obscene amount of games, but has a much fuller gaming experience than most of us that only have 1 out of the 3. He can buy whatever game he wants and play it on whatever system he wants. So, if you can live without playing several games then I say don't worry about it, your system will have great games coming out for it as will the other 2.
I was given a PS3 60gb for xmas last year, (yay for backwards compatability) and I recently bought a 360. Although I love both of these consoles, and I think the 360 has some excellent features and abilities, that I wish the PS3 came with, the fact that 2 360's have crapped out on me, one due to hardware malfunction, and the other due to a system update patch from microsoft itself, (huh?) makes me appreciate the PS3 a lot more now. Although it definitely is far from perfect, it has yet to let me down in any way, and always runs smoothly and properly. Anyways, I really think that by owning both consoles, you get the full spectrum of "Non-Wii" console gaming... because lets be honest... the wii blows. ;) In otherwords, if you can afford both, go for it, I doubt you'll be disappointed.
Oh I forgot to mention I really don't care for your opinions on games/consoles/shoes please just stick to the question at hand.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_3_games
Considering 3/4th's of the list says "TBA", it's hard to have fun with it. (this, coming from someone who prefers the PS3 over the 360)
A majority of those games are either in development or also available for 360.
One nice thing about two consoles: even when it comes to non-exclusives, it gives you the chance to either A. pick up the copy that's 'better' as in the case of The Orange Box, and B. if A isn't true for a title, pick it up when it goes on sale for either console/if it drops price faster on one console than another.
Then don't. You can get a 360 and a game for £129 in GAMESTATION/GAME
| |
Trust me matey, I wasted money on all three : (
just a quick question...... If you have a PC why would you buy orange box (or any FPS for that matter) for a console? Back to the question. 1. I have both and the ps3 collects dust. I dont even use it for blue-ray movies that often because it's cheaper to rent it in HD on my 360 and stream it to my nice big TV. I'm assuming your PS3 will do the same if you buy the 360 except for the occasional exclusive on the ps3. Theres just alot more games for the 360, period. Im not being a fanboy or giving you a skewed opinion. It's just that way. 2. With the current state of gaming, 3rd party developers are going to look less towards exclusives and more towards first release dates to make more money. If the sell a game really well to 2/3rds of 360 owners, more then likley it will do just as well if not better on Ps3 as well. This making them double the profit they would have made only releasing it to the 360 player base. As with rock band 2. It will be out for PS3 but at a later date. FF13 is going to be a dual release but one is getting it a month or two ahead of the other. Unless its a mario game its probably going to be on all the consoles. So my advice to you is look at it like this, are you too spoiled to wait a few months for the game to release on your PS3 or do you have to have it the exact day it comes out?
EDIT: I was trying for satire here, I failed. Don't take it seriously. /EDIT Because the only people that believe that PC FPS's are better in everyway are trademark PC fanboys, us normal people enjoy being comfy on a sofa or bed not sitting at a desk and we don't all have UBERL33T KEYBORD SKILZZ!!!"£!!1
This threads going down the wrong direction @Jobz: that was the ideal reply I would probably get more than those 3 games and borrow others from friends. @hiandhappy: that's what i fear not using the 360 to play games but using it as a ...w/e it will be used as if I don't play games on it.
Worth it to me. I have a Wii and a 360 (getting a PS3 soon) and some of the exclusives alone are worth it. I'm glad I got to play Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports, Halo 3, Virtua Fighter 5, and Oblivion. True, exclusive content is becoming more and more rare, so it may not be worth it in the future to have more than one system, but for me, for now, it's a necessity.
I have a Wii60, under the idea that the PS3 and 360 are not much different. You only need one of the two paired up with a Wii, and you will get enough out of the generation. If you want all three, go ahead. I dont see how getting a 360 will be worth the extra $300 American.
What do your friends own? My PS3 gets plenty of online action because my friends all own one. However, if I'm playing solo then my 360 delivers the better experience generally. It's a useful luxury being able to cherry pick the superior version of a multi-format game. Plus dual-ownership gives you the right to plunge into console flame wars with indifference - or, if you're feeling feisty, impunity.
We're still in that myth? I thought people got over that? I have a Ps3 and a Wii, but my Wii has so much dust on it I could probably use it as a broom (bad pun)
My ps3 doesn't see too much use as a gamesconsole but it is a fairly decent Blu Ray player. I own far too many games for the 360 that either came out on the pc (usually in a better form) or I just haven't played. My Wii developed an overheating problem about 3 months ago. It's sitting inside a hair curler box waiting to be sent out. The selection of games is, sadly, piss poor.
Sorry, what I actually meant was when there are some multi-platform RPGs, I'll be getting them for the PS3 Fixxd.
I own a PS3 and a Xbox 360, bought the PS3 a year or so after the Xbox. This fall/winter will be AWESOME.
I have all the new consoles and a gaming PC and I use them all regularly. The only problem I have is actually COMPLETING all the games available to me. I had my PS3 and Wii since release night and have had a working gaming PC my whole life. The reason I bought a 360 was to play COD:4 with my brother and I've had a great time picking through the now cheap backlog of X-Box exclusives. Now my only OTHER problem is which platform to buy mulitplatform games on. Case in point; I want Burnout Paradise now that it's $29 and I'm having a hard time deciding which platform to buy it for. As I will when Dirt, Grid, and Pure go down in price.

I got a Wii for Zelda/Wii Sports, and haven't plugged it in since the last time I moved. The 360 I play regularly, and haven't had any issues with it yet, and have downloaded various games/movies from Live as well. I bought an HD DVD player for the 360, about 2 months before it was declared dead in the water. So after sitting around a few more months unable to get any new movies in HD, I finally bit the bullet and got a PS3 for the Blu Ray player. The only games I've played on it are MGS4 which came with it, and Uncharted, which I borrowed from a friend. MGS4 is weird, and I've enjoyed and beaten MGS. I don't know if I'll finish it any time soon, it just doesn't grab me as fun. Uncharted is great. I've only played about a quarter of it so far, but I've enjoyed every bit of it. I haven't seen another exclusive game for PS3 yet that warranted me buying it, although I have bought several games from the PS3 store. Siren: Blood Curse, Super Stardust HD, and fl0w (which was underwhelming and short :( ). The PS3 store has some nice exclusives, but they go out of their way to make it one of the most annoying interfaces to use. From searching for a game to actually downloading and installing. I've always been a Sony fan over Microsoft, I still have my pre-ordered PS2, and never owned an Xbox, as well as preferring the controller. But, overall, I still enjoy cross platform games on the 360. They tend to have a wider range of DLC, or at least more apparent DLC, along with the achievement system (haha trophys) and better integrated online functionality. I'm still looking for a reason to buy a second controller for the PS3, although Super Stardust is almost enough. I want to see what co-op is like on that. Resistance 2 is probably the best exclusive on the horizon I can think of, although I haven't tried the first one yet. I hear Disgaea 3 is decent, but not sure if I'm in the mood for that currently. So, right now my PS3 is a Blu Ray player with a couple downloaded games on it, and my 360 is a game console. The Wii is a paperweight.
Which is alright, but far from a system seller (and more of an action game than a proper RPG). The only RPG worthy of note on the PS3 is Disgaea 3. Eternal Sonata is out soon, and that's fun, but also sloppy seconds, and Enchanted Arms, which is only for people who REALLY like RPGs, and can stand utterly dire voice acting (seriously. I want the voice casts, both English and Japanese, because they're both awful, lined up and shot).
I got a Wii for both my daughter and wife, as they tend to enjoy more family friendly games with a simplistic control scheme. Anything that they have to memorize button combinations or becomes somewhat complex...they really have no interest in. I also admit, I wanted one to play with the unique controller, and some mindless gaming. However, because of the lack of 'AAA' title games...our Wii doesn't get played as much. I find it gets played more when we have company over because couples can jump in and play more intuitively and easily...especially among the women. My XBox 360 is my baby. I love the games, graphics, achievements, DLC, and exclusives. I pretty am pretty much on daily, or at least every other day. My Xbox get a work out. I am considering a PS3 solely for two reasons: Little Big Planet and a Blu Ray DVD player that can get flash updates every so often. My DVD player is like a 1st or 2nd gen (approaching 7 years old), and I'd like to upgrade. Why buy a new DVD player for $399-499, when I can get a PS3 and Little Big Planet for the same price? I think if I got a PS3, it would be more used to watch Blu Ray movies.
I have a Wii and PS3, the Wii is my sisters (I still get to play it though!), so I'm satisfied. I suggest if you buy a 360, drop the crappy games you mentioned and get Castle Crashers & Braid.
Wii, PS3, PC is my lineup. If you are happy with what you have then forget about the other few exclusives. Also since you mentioned that you have a PS3 LittleBigPlanet comes soon. I don't want to buy a 360 either, I'm afraid I would neglect it. If you think you are going to regret a purchase look into the game lineup (especially the upcoming one) - and if you want another consoles/system - upgrade your PC for the longevity. Initial cost hurts but everything after is a breeze.
The thread title is slightly misleading. I ended up here cause I have a Ps3 and a Wii. Do what I'm doing - get a PC. Realistically you will get nearly all of those games, and when Epic pulls their head out of their collective anus and puts Gears 2 on Steam, you'll get that (if you really want it). And no-ones going to tell you that the Pc doesn't have some rather good looking exclusives of its own. As for Braid, well, if he's prepared to wait
So screw all the full price, deep retail games and just buy the stuff from the Xbox live arcade. You know don't worry about playing with friends online (which was the point) and get some hollow toned down to fit the arcade size regulation games. Good idea there.

I have a question, is it worth it?
You see I have a Play Station 3 I love with my harts content but I am looking to buy a 360 purely because of a few exclusives GOW 1/2 Halo and Fable, however I don't want to spend £200+ on something im not going to use after a few months and me being the sony fan boy I am I would buy the majority of multi platform games for my ps3 only getting 360 exclusives and games I know I will enjoy more on the 360 (people to play online with ect)
So I wanted to ask those of you who have bought a second console was it double the fun or do you now have a expensive dust collector?
