Also, I got this really bad pain at the base of my thumb for a few days right after Super Mario 64 came out. Wasn't used to a thumbstick back then. |

Though back when I played PS2 I got them a lot more often, which I take to mean the buttons were harder or something. Or maybe my fingers were too young and soft and vulnerable. Also I get headaches or dizzy or whatever if I'm staring at my computer screen too long. Especially when I get back from vacation or sometime when I haven't played videogames for awhile, which I think is pretty cool since it means I build up a temporary immunity to it. Or I just get used to it. Sounds cooler the other way. Also my (right) wrist starts to hurt sometimes, and my neck hurts if I keep it in one position too long. But watching my TV while I'm on my computer helps since it makes me turn my head sometimes to look at it. |

Anger issues FTW... no anger isses that cost you upwards of two thousand dollars just in computer damages, FTL. Ya popped one of my fingers out of location and shredded the skin from the innards of the comp and the glass. I dislike losing. |

A few days later, I no longer had palms. My fingers were connected to my wrist through an enormous throbbing blister. Not fun. But at least I got a high score. Which my older brother promptly demolished, by using the same technique with the wonderous addition of a rubber glove. Bastard. |

You see, what I did there is use proper capitalisation and I spelt things correctly, instead of using the quick (and very lazy) technique of using single letter words such as "u". I advise downloading an Internet spell check. Mozilla Firefox has one built in but I use IEspell. Don't put all your trust in these however as you still need to re read your posts to make sure they make sense. It comes down to putting effort in your posts. Put the effort into your post and people will respect it, don't put the effort into it and people wont respect it and they will not respect you. The same goes for some of the posters in this thread. |

If you've seen King of Kong, you know how OCD you need to be to seriously play that game. And I was. I played it day in, day out. I'd pause the bastard and come back in the morning when mum threatened to beat me with a stick if I didn't go to bed. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, however the 7800 controllers had a screw-on thumb-stick. This thing looked and felt like a glass lens on top of a stick. I didn't realise at the time, but as I used that, it was tearing away at my thumb, leaving a crescent shaped callous in its wake. Due to obsessive gaming, this was only noticed when, after sending the ape crashing down to the unforgiving floor of the construction site for the umpteenth time, the callous actually tore off and started pissing blood everywhere. Needless to say, after I healed, I was so far out of the zone that hung my head in shame and put my Kong days behind me forever. Then there's your classic UT Instagibs match, 32 players, racing to 200 frags. The old sex life was shattered after that one. Finally, there was Rockband. After a hard night of drinking and plastic guitaring, I reached the pinnacle of my plastic guitar career, when I cranked it to expert and nailed every song for about 3 hours with 95%+. Unfortunately, 5 fingered, non-korean hands were never meant to move that fast and I still feel the pain from that fateful day |

If it was the first one, I'd have to say the game where you're on the stationary bike trying to turn the lightbulb on to banish the ghost. I couldn't play games for like a week after that thing. Whoever designed the texture of the N64 thumbstick should be shot...and then two more times for good measure. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 77 Joined: 12 Aug 2008 | I have suffered with you guys. Those SNES controllers were hell on my thumbs. Rapid fire Hadoukens would win me a match, but I would feel it when the blisters came. Thankfully, I no longer get those. I now have the bronzed, calloused hands of a modern gaming god. The most memorable injury was last year, when I found one of those arm wrestling machines in the local arcade. After you complete a round, you have the opportunity to get a high score based on how much force you could impose on the robotic arm of the game. I tore my bicep, and it took a while to heal. But you know what? High score. Totally worth it. |

Anyway, a friend and I were playing the Wii Sports boxing, and I went for a vicious upper-cut and somehow the controller wrist strap snapped and flew off an hit my brother in the eye. Downright hilarious. |

Hadoukens were difficult on the thumbs but Shoryukens were.. insane if you chained them, because they hurt the tip of the thumb AND the joints :P |
