OK, first things first, sorry about the 'has been done a million billion times before' subject, but as this is my first post on this forum I thought I'd get things going with a nice easy subject.

My personal favorite is the Ion Cannon from the Command and Conquer series of games. Just watching that blue streak come down from the heavens and taking out everything within the blast radius is something that every CnC fan craves. Also, the satisfaction of taking out a noobs bunched up structures is something that never stops making me feel good about myself, and I think the noobs get something out of it too, they learn not to bunch up their power plants or whatever.

Anyway.....discuss...

The Cerebral Bore from Turok 2
Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2
Chainsaw Gun and Torque Bow from Gears of Wars (I've only played the first level and a few mulitplayer matches, so I don't know what the one gun is called)

The Uber Gravity Gun you get at the end of HL2. The second you see an enemy soldier, just pick 'im up and toss 'em back. Infinite fun to be had throwing your opponents every which way.

There is also something to be said for the Portal Gun...crazy awesomeness.

Lightsaber from Jedi Knight games. Fundamentally change the way action games are played. These games play in markedly different ways than any other FPSs do.

Ah yes! I love the nuclear missle super-weapon from Red Alert 2. Nothing gives you a power overdose like confirming a nuckear strike and witnessing the total carnage that ensues. Same goes for the nuke from Civilisation Revolution. Hooray for confirmation buttons! Dooming an entire city with a tap of my A button!

Its close between the dual nuclear ballistic missiles, shot from a tank on earth 2150 and the gravity gun from half life.

Another note, what would be great fun would be if you could replay the final level on co-op, one person with a pimped gravity gun and another with the crosbow, I would spend hours sticking combine to walls in silly positions!

Melee attacks in FarCry. Loved how the bodies just went flying off in random directions.
Also, Konril. Anyone who knows what that is gets my undying respect... or if you know what Mamahaha or Shikuru are. Not weapons those last two though so don't count.

Lightning Web - Mega Man X4
Pretty powerful as a stand-alone weapon, and can double as an impromptu wall for those moments when you need a mid-chasm boost.

Grappling Arm - Bionic Commando
If you've played the game, you probably know why; it's the single most used weapon in the game. Versatile, upgradeable, and while it isn't lethal, it can still pack a wallop in a pinch.

Vega's Claw - Street Fighter II
It gives Vega's punches an extra bite, plus a bit more range. Makes keeping the more annoying World Warriors at an arm's distance a breeze.

Laser Sword (Electricty+Cutter) - Kirby 64
Aside from being an extremely useful melee weapon in itself, it looks and sounds very much like Darth Maul's double lightsaber. How cool is that?

The Keyblade - Kingdom Hearts
It might not seem to be the most lethal of weapons, but one has to admit that it's unique. With the ability to seal the vulnerable core of worlds and destroy the shadowy Heartless that would consume those cores, the Keyblade is an instrumental part of the series, and has arguably become as well known as other franchise weapons, like Cloud's Buster Sword and Tidus' Brotherhood.

Definitely. I just love how menacing it looks with those wicked blades....

While we're on Painkiller, I nominate the stake gun, as Milkatron did- there's something to be said for being able to impale your enemies with a large fence post, no?

Of course, the Dark Energy Gravity Gun from the end of HL2

Oh, and obviously the BFG 9000
