It was still on N64, so it had the same feel as Goldeneye but with better graphics and more options for gameplay. (The 4 player versus mode was incredibly diverse in both maps and game type.) It had a good storyline that followed fairly close to the movie. I have hopes that it will be awesome. Oh, I have never seen an add for this game, can you link please so I can see the trailer? |

Muckraker Posts: 247 Joined: 5 Mar 2008 | I played the demo and it was really short, running off the COD4 engine, the gameplay overall was good, but to me it's in no way near Goldeneye. I'd love to see this game be huge, I just doubt that it will be. |
Beat Writer Posts: 163 Joined: 26 Mar 2008 | i believe the game will go down the same road Force Unleashed did, promised the world, didn't deliever, and then there 4 topics of how fans ate the hype and feel like sharing their retribution. i hope to be coming back and eating these words. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2949 Joined: 20 Dec 2007 | Eh, didn't get good impressions from the demo. I've been praying for a good bond game since Everything or Nothing, but I'll wait pessimistically one more. |
Muckraker Posts: 232 Joined: 4 Jun 2008 | The demo was pretty bad, so don't go expecting COD4 with a posh accent. I guess it was trying to be intense, but it was just slightly confusing and loud. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 58 Joined: 13 Aug 2008 | i didnt like it i played the demo and it was to short and it was like a mix between Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Call Of Duty 4 i mean separate they are both great games but put together its just... lame... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1177 Joined: 26 Mar 2008 | Just because it uses the COD4 engine it doesn't suddenly make it fantastic. |

your telling people not to jump to conclusions, right? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1177 Joined: 26 Mar 2008 | I haven't made up my mind at all, i'll wait for the reviews thank you very much. But using a certain engine does not suddenly make it a great game, it depends entirely on how the developers use it. But going from experience, Treyarch (making one of the worst FPS games ever) and other bond games its not looking very hopeful. Every developer has struggled to make another "Goldeneye" sucess. I can tell you what i think of COD4 if you want. Its a FPS with a solid single player experience with good story telling but sometimes falls flat on the gameplay side. Respawning enemies and nades etc. The multiplayer is briefly fun but the very gimmicky and flawed perk system (rewarding bad players is not smart) sucks away the fun over long playtime. Also the game revolves spam gameplay (nades, choppers, airstrikes) rather than player skill. Its good but its almost like they tried to hard and fell a bit flat. |
Paperboy Posts: 45 Joined: 5 May 2008 | It doesnt look bad, I mean it cant be worse than the last few Bond games. However, I do not agree with going back to first person. The only Bond Game I liked after Goldeneye is Everything or Nothing, because you felt like Bond. In any FPS you feel somewhat clumsy, in a third person game you feel like you are actually a superspy. I dunno though, Im going toa gree with Codgo and wait to play it. |

I get wat your saying and i suppose to an extend thats wat Quantum is trying to do. Be a FPS action but also have the third person James Bond feel. i.e cover (whether that will actually make you feel like bond i don't know) Can someone post a link to where i can download the demo. didn't know you could download it. That would be great. (or did you play it somewhere else?) |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 623 Joined: 10 Apr 2008 | The only James Bond games I ever liked were goldeneye (though i didn't LOVE it as much as everyone else did), tommorow never dies and agent under fire. I did, however, Love perfect dark. I have the Lowest expectations i think it is possible to have. I will be so bold as to declare that we will never, ever, everever see a good shooter. I'm not going to de-generalise that statement a bit. |

Why will we never see another good shoter again? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1151 Joined: 20 Jul 2008 | Do not worry Comrads, CoD4 engine = good. Thats the only point I have, apart from that, the game looks like a crappier Rogue Agent (Which was the last "good" 007 game in my opinion though it wasn't based on him). Maybe soon another good shooter will dawn, perhaps CoD5 More Modern Warfare in 2009/10. |

therein lies the rub mate :P I -haven't- played call of duty four, but i think i can escape this on a technicality because no matter how good it is i played it's PERquels and all but the first sucked. So. :P (I'm a gleefull shame-dodger :P) But come to think of it if it's a modern-soldier game i probably would have whined about it being a battlefield 2 copy. And BF2 wasn't so great either, when compared to 1942. (these are all my opinions - not my declarations) And yes, perfect dark should get a podium somewhere: "This is how it's done" |
Muckraker Posts: 344 Joined: 29 May 2008 | To be honest, Call of Duty 4 is the best Call of Duty since the original. Probably better than actually. I'd agree on Battlefield. I'd go as far with Battlefield to say that 1942 was the only Battlefield game that was actually good, and i have owned all PC versions barring 2142. BF2 was a fetid shell compared to Desert Combat, probably the best mod ever made. I'd also go as far to say the only good Unreal Tournament game was the original, and that Command and Conquer Zero Hour was probably the best Command and Conquer game. Which in a mighty arc of topic drift, brings me back to the point. I think the new bond game could be alright. I doubt it will be exceptional and i doubt it will hold up as well as Goldeneye. |

that looks like the psp version |
Muckraker Posts: 276 Joined: 12 Sep 2008 | Demo. Thoughts on it after I download it. Damn thing'll barely fit onto a CD. But at least it's smaller then the Half-Life 2 demo. Is it just me or are these things just getting massive? Isn't GTA4 supposed to need 6 gigs or something? Ouch! |

That's no excuse, considering it looks like a PS1 game with bilinear filtering. Even the PSP has better looking games. |

that simply has to be the psp version... Anyway, i'm more worried about what appears to be an engine that supports backing up against walls. Unless it's a cut scene (which it probably is) I'd hate to see that... |
Muckraker Posts: 276 Joined: 12 Sep 2008 | Okay, played it. The most annoying thing is that it took longer to download then to play, which is never good! The game itself actually plays pretty solidly. The cover system actually works really well, and the blend between first and third person is pretty smooth. The only minor criticism I have is that the game takes control from you for a couple of seconds if you fall more then a couple of feet, presumably so Bond can steady himself. It may be realistic, but it's a little jarring. Other then that, it all seems good. Once I figured out how to take someone down (sprint up to them, stand in just the right position, press Q and then move the cursor over the target and click when it turns green), I started really quite enjoying the game and I could easily see myself playing this for a good while. Unfortunately, the demo is very, VERY short, so you'll only get a very brief feel for the controls, but it's definitely a good start. Most importantly, it seemed like fun. It's hard to tell when there's only 5-10 minutes of gameplay there, but it all worked well and really felt enjoyable. I have high hopes for the full game. |

There's one thing that's amiss in that claim. The resolution of the picture. Also, like I said. It's the Wii version, yes, but even for a Wii game, it looks positively horrific. It looks worse than an early PS2 game. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 623 Joined: 10 Apr 2008 | Wait... Well of COURSE it's gonna be a pile of ass, Wii, 360 or whatever, I am -amazed- that this game doesn't look -worse- - Bond games have been average with graphics for ever, excluding goldeneye~ But honestly guys, looking at that again... maybe it's a BETA version or something... ps. This movie has the worst title I've ever seen. Bond movies have a standard of more or less making sense, but 'quantum of solace'? [physics theory] or [assurance]? huh? That's like saying Sorbet of Mystified or something |
Paperboy Posts: 46 Joined: 25 Sep 2008 | I played the demo and wasn't terribly disappointed by it (it just ran slow because my computer's crap), but I don't know if I'd go as far to say what one trailer claimed ("Best Bond game since Goldeneye" or some odd rubbish). Gameplay-wise, however, I thought it was decent, but maybe that's because I've become a cover system whore anymore. And because Daniel Craig is dreamy. |

I'm sure a lot of us have seen trailers and gameplay clips of the upcomming 007 game "Quantum of Solace" (Based on both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace).
I'm intrested to know what you think the game will be like?
It has been built using the CoD4 engine so there has to be some hope in it.
Overall I am a fan of James Bond games and seeing how this is going back to FPS i reackon it'll be ok.
You?
