Infamous Scribbler Posts: 623 Joined: 10 Apr 2008 | Nah I just thought them up - come to think of it the guitar hero thing would be more like a straight multiplayer, just forming bands with your friends and versing other bands overseas, or doing it solo~ 300 'cause spartan total warrior was fun and it's famous enough to sell alot even if it's crap |

WH40k already has a MMO in developement for it. THQ is naturally backing it and if I remember correctly, Vigil is developing it. Here's hoping they go for a Planetside style route, rather than going with more of a Tabula Rasa style "fake FPS." |

well it makes more sense than a world of warcraft 2, I mean world of warcraft is working off of warcraft 3's storyline, what happens when they run out of ideas for expansion packs, they're about to release starcraft 2 so they have an new storyline to make a MMo out of. |

Like no-one playing as anything but the Tyranids and Space marines |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1522 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | Lets walk before we pogo stick. I want to see Warhammer40k successfully adopted to the bloody kind of game it sings for- FPS or TPS. Space Marines- super soldiers in power armor, many exotic weapons. Perfectly exscusable for a single space marine to mow his way through a million red shirts. CHAIN.SAW.SWORDS. The ONLY issue is that the standard issue space marine weapon, the Bolter, is either a grenade machine gun or an anti-aircraft rifle handheld- or if you had a gun that fired only those little minirockets from Battlefield 2142. I wouldn't mind a little creative alteration so long as it's a gun with big boom. Just make the various ammunitions (because there are multiple ammo types, oh yes!) rare, provide plasma weaponry and melta weaponry. Each can use their own mechanics: OH AND DID I MENTION- CHAIN.SAW.AXES! Bolters rapid fire high calibur rounds, it can be used for mowing down masses of infantry- and there should be HUNDREDS of traitor guardsment and cultists to kill, and their puny mortal weaponry should plink off your space marine power armor like popcorn! Of course when they wheel up that heavy bolter you may want to think more tactically... Plasma Gun's have medium range and a semi automatic rate of fire, more useful for heavier armored singular targets like Chaos Space Marines, anything with powered armor. It can have an overheat mechanic to prevent spam (this is also within canon for imperial plasma tech, only Eldar "Starfire" plasma technoligy doesn't overheat). Fire too much, it overheats and shuts down till it cools. Melta Guns effectivly fire short range cones or streams of melting death. Soldiers liquify, armor is melted off of tanks. Very powerful but on a limited energy battery that slowly recharges. Thats just three weapons- you could probably base the inteir game around them too, though that would be missing out on the Bolter variants, Flamers, Stubbers (scout marines used Combat Shotguns), Needle Sniper Rifles (scout marines again), various grenades, the missle launcher, various missle and bolter round types. This formula would also work well for the Tau(fix Firewarrior!), for the Imperial Guard (especially), For the Eldar(maybe?), and for the Orks (this would be hilarious). AND DID I MENTION? CHAIN.SAW.FIST. Bugger it all, i'll make a thread about all the fun shit you could do with Warhammer 40K tomarrow when i'm less exhausted. |

They are making a 3rd person WH40K space marine shooter for xbox 360
Blizzard said that WoW would be the final installment in the warcraft series, that they would resolve the storyline through it. But you know I bet they'll chuck a george lucas and refuse to let it go. (not referencing yahtzee there but i might as well be) I think that people who go as the guard should chose officer classes. I.e. you can be a commissar or a sergant etc, and you command a group of underling standard guardsmen (like death knights in wow) and that should equal u to players running around in 10 tons of artificer armour, am i right folks? Can i Get an amen? eight foot, nay, 10 ft tall space marines running around curb stomping one of your orgrim guardsmen while a few guys ram a launcher up his rear... Hope I got the name of that type of imperial guard unit that grows up on the high gravity planet and are more like orcs than humans... orgrims? i forget~ Orcs should follow roughly that same idea, You are a officer-rank nob, commanding some grunts, yeah. that'd Rock |

Paperboy Posts: 48 Joined: 10 Oct 2008 | A Starcraft MMO would be pretty neat, although I'd personally like to see a Bratz/Barbie MMO.. "Dress of Unimaginative Sass +6! That's just what I've been looking for!" or "I need help with a French Supermodel run.. will pay Pearl Earrings of the Underage Skank!" That would just be too good to be true. And if they did make a Guitar-hero MMO it would probably devolve into people trashing in-game hotels, shooting heroin and stagediving. Nothing else makes sense. |

I doubt TES will ever be MMO as long as Todd Howard runs the show. They've pretty much confirmed that a thousand times. It'd probably just be more of the same fantasy grind sandwich if they did, which would take the charm from the TES games away. |

Well, I should change my original post. I don't think TES would be the "next" MMO, but I think eventually (perhaps 10 years from now), it has great potential to be one. TES is just too big of a series - and I think as gaming technology advances (and new play-styles are invented), the odds are high that we will see a TES at some point. The game goes for GTA - but I think a GTA MMO is just as far off. |

Perhaps you are right, and I do agree that it has great potential. I would just hate to see it turn into another WoW.. of course, every MMORPG wants to be WoW with tits, but yeah.. |
Paperboy Posts: 42 Joined: 30 Dec 2007 | gta would be the ultimate mmo ihmo. think WoW except in new york and with gangsters. Having a clan would be cool as well |
Muckraker Posts: 288 Joined: 4 Sep 2008 | There were MMOs before WoW, and I think when everyone stops trying to be WoW and starts trying to push the limits of what can be done with new game ideas, that's when you'll have a WoW-killer. WoW was bugged pretty bad after it first launched - the queues, the random disconnects, the quests. A lot of sites that had reviewed the game wanted to take back their high scores after being unable to play the game. People forget about that. I don't doubt that it is a great game - my biggest complaint was the customer service and support in the early days. I think what helped it get such a following so quickly was the fact that 1) It's made by Blizzard and 2) Just about every Warcraft fan was anticipating it. I liked it, I just didn't have the time for it anymore (or to try and participate in hair-pulling raids where you depend on 39 other people to be ON-TIME and not going AFK). I dream of someday playing an MMO where you can do just about anything you want. Player housing, not having to grind for XP, not even having to go fight if you don't want to (professions others think are "useless" but can make money i.e. SWG), and a lot of other stuff that has yet to be implemented in a MMO. The sad thing is it is such a big investment to create an MMO and its a gamble whether people will play it so it will be successful. I'd like to see an MMO where a single player can obtain an item that would make them immensely powerful - and they can use this item for good or evil. Enough people take that person down and they could lose the item. I'd like to see permadeath, at least as an option. That would change PvP mechanics quite a bit. Perhaps you get to have a family and if your main character dies you pick up as your offspring. That could bring in aging and your gear getting passed off to your children. Someone could be remembered as a "great hero" and a statue created in likeness of a player in one of the towns. Things like that would make a pretty epic experience to me - the ability to actually feel like you're changing the game world and impacting the story - rather than just going around killing monsters to "level up". |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 678 Joined: 20 Aug 2008 | Since TES Online would be a license for Bethsoft/ZeniMax to print money, you gotta figure they'll go for it eventually. I hold out hope for something like a Port Royale or Capitalism MMO (think EVE on Earth) but the closest anyone's come is Pirates of the Burning Sea, which sucked. |

I reckon WoW itself had almost no bugs, actually. Only twice or so in my first one or two years in the game did i get stuck - both times in the middle of that beautifully cavernous and wonderfully rendered area known as ashenvale forest. (incidentally, i quit WoW because i realised they'd never create new zones with anywhere near the depth and richness of ashenvale, ferelas, and maybe even STV_ That's what Blizzard have made themselves famous for: extremely solid, polished games. WoW's disconnects shouldn't be called 'bugs,' they were to do with the servers on the west coast, not the game itself. I remember WoW even had a few intentional 'bugs' (sneaking into hyjal or below dire maul - i really think they were intentional bugs) like being able to get on top of the IF bank, or the actualy mountain of IF. I loved it.
Damn, sweet. So long as they base it off Jean-Luc Picard's timeline, before him it was too old school and after him it was too crap. ...hmm, Sid Meier's Pirates! would rock as an MMO... |

It takes place around that era, suffuce to say in their era I believe Picard is still alive. If it is passed the TNG era, then it really isn't far beyond it. |

I'd play Imperial Guard, so that when I got to the end game I could become an inquisitor. Make no sense? See this post: |
