One of the main things I wanted from Oblivion it was a) Guns and b) Online Co-op.

So i'm half way there now thanks to Fallout 3, but wouldn't online co-op be grand :)

I imagine it would be like Fable 2 where you can jump in and jump out where you like and put on a filter so you cant murder all of the other player's quest givers :P

Mmm...multiplayer Fallout...but not this MMO they're talking about! That'll suck.

But multiplayer Fallout...Mmmmmm.

On one hand, it may be fun to show others your decisions or just generally wreak havoc, but on the other hand, I think Fallout is a more Personal experience then Fable, so I'm gonna have to say I wouldn't like it.

It's not impossible, i've been told about how people made Oblivion multiplayer through LAN servers so there's always hope for an expansion :D

EDIT: I agree that it's an experience best explored alone but I would like to play multiplayer after completion :)

I got all exited and changed this game from a rental to a buy when I saw the title of this thread.... and now I'm crashing into dissapointment again... thanks :P

Don't take it personally... I just can't afford games that I can rent and complete. I'm looking forward to Infamous like crasy... but again 1 player so I'll just rent it.

Oh I would LOVE to watch someone tea bag my corpse when I was just trying to figure out how to get a pack of raiders to stop following me.

Fallout...Is not...Oblivion...WITH GUNS!

And I fear that Bethesda is making Oblivion with guns, and that is going to suck!

Fallout 3, if it follows the similar conventions of morrowind and oblivion, would be terrible online. Imagine having to wait or find a group to do all the main quests in Oblivion?
"LFG Mankar Cameron, need 2 mages!"

No thank you. Let me be antisocial and play single player :P

Fallout 3 Co-Op would be nice if the quest choices you make affected your friend.
"Hey mate, could you meet me at Megaton?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Sucker." *flips switch*

It has hundreds of hours of gameplay, a large amount of good an evil missions, all of which can be completed inversely and affect the game world, and your planning on finishing it within 2 months...and not playing through it a few more times? Are you insane!?!?! Sorry, I just got a little riled up when you implied that you could complete this game quickly.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Play Fallout 3 as a rental? Can you imagine what that'd be like?

"Whoo! Escaped Vault 101! Now what will I do fir... Shit Blockbuster closes in 20 minutes! I am not getting another late fee."

On topic, Fallout's a lot more personal (from what I've seen) than Fable. It's connecting on a deeper level. Fable's more light hearted. Co-op in Fable 2 will boil down to something like "Do half a quest, then get drunk and kick chickens for an hour".

1. Blockbuster and most other decent rental places rent for a week, 2 rentals of hardcore gaming should be enough to get a good value out of the game.

2. Blockbuster doesn't have latefees.

I'm still buying this one though.

I thought Fallout 3 was brilliant, i mean that the 5 videos were amazing but i didnt know that there could be a multi-player, i think that would make a great game look even cooler but i have to agree offline co-op would be brilliant, all in all it looks to be a good game.

Isn't fallout 3 a storyline-heavy RPG? Like Bauldur's Gate and ... Fallout?

Interesting to think of how that would work online

Let me list things I'd rather rent from blockbuster then buy:
1. I didn't buy GTA IV but played it for 8 weeks straight due to my Blockbuster Online membership
2. Also didn't buy Oblivion but still played it for 6 weeks
3. Bioshock, played it through a couple times in 4 weeks

And after all that, Fallout 3 just seems too big to rent

From bethsoft I wouldn't hold my breath for it. Personally I never cared for multiplayer (another excuse to be yelled at and told I'm n00b because I play the way I think is fun? Nah), and I liked Oblivion fine without it. The way I see it, Multiplayer Fantasy Game = WoW. Multiplayer Gunfight Game = CS/STALKER/UT3/HL/MoH/CoD. What could Fallout 3 offer in that regard?

I heard there is a Fallout mmo in production.

It would be good for Fallout 3 thought, also pilotable Vertibirds.

I don't know, I heard the same thing about Oblivion. 100's of hours, many missions, impacts on the world, etc.

I had done absolutely everything that could be done in just under two weeks, and I never played it again. *And* I have a full time job and a kid.

I'm not saying that Fallout will fall prey to this. I got several hundred hours out of Morrowind, mostly because I really got into it. However, I'm going to call right now that if you end up disenchanted with the game and just want to finish it, you'll be able to complete the whole thing, including all side quests, in under 30 hours.

How much did it cost to continually rent those games! :O

Do you get a special discount for having an online membership, because at my blockbuster it would have been cheaper to buy the game than rent it for two months.

I got one coupon for a free game or movie every month, every movie I got could be used as a coupon to reduce the price of the game.
So all in all here were the prices:
GTA IV: $20
Oblivion:$10
Bioshock: $5

Sweet!

If you work in a blockbuster you get a free rental card as a perk.

It's good to know people :P
