I recently moved, and when I switched my 360 on I had to set the date. I pushed down and instead of the date rolling to 2099 (like the original Xbox does), the date rolled over to 2025. So if it's 2026, I won't be able to set the date on my 360? Does Microsoft not believe anyone will be playing a 360 after 2025? Or will there not a working 360 at that point (Insert RRoD joke). People are still playing original Nintendo/Genesis systems!

I'm kind of curious what happens if you set the date to December 31, 2025 at about 11:57 pm, then load up a game and play it. After the "new-year", when you save does the save game become 2026? Or will it roll back over to the initial date?

I would try this, but I'm not at home with my 360 at the moment - and I'm also paranoid about what exactly it will do to the save files.

If 360's haven't destroyed themselves by 2025, then I think the date/time thing will probably just roll back over. If you are still using your 360 as a clock in 2026, then you really need a new clock.

well 17 years from now we will have the 4th gen. Xbox or whatever it is. So no biggie, I'm sure the annoying retro gamers of that time will have emulators to run call of duty and halo.

Well, Animal Crossing for the Gamecube only went to 2030, does it really matter if the date just doesn't go over to another year?

Seeing as thats over 15 years away i'm vaugly sure the 360 won't even exist anymore...or if it does everyone will just pirate the roms off the super intarwebs to relive the old vintage days of gaming when you didn't even feel it when you got shot in the leg.

I think people will still be playing a lot of old consoles - not THAT many people - but I still know a few people that have an old NES or Genesis. Heck, I have a few old consoles at my father-in-law's house for when I get bored and we're there for a visit. :D I would love to see a "console showdown" in 2050 - all of the consoles from the past 70 years lined up and turned on to see if they still work.

I'm confident that my SNES will still work in 2025.
I'm hopeful that my PS2 will survive until 2025.
I'll be lucky if my 360 lasts another month.

By then Xbox Jesus console will be out, or at least Xbox 1080. So I doubt it'll even matter. Chances are WW3 will happen before the end of 2020 and are lives will be a FPS shooter.

I haven't noticed that before...maybe it's something they'll fix in the update.

That depends on your rig. Mines pretty sluggish. I need to upgrade my abs so I can handle the Framerate of running on a battlefield.

I think every single 360 will EXPLODE. It is all part of Microsoft's new marketing plan, instead of doing subtle things like stop updating their old stuff to make people buy their new, they are simple going to blow it up.

Seems a bit unlikely that it will stop working. I do know that if you use the numbers from the final date on the wii clock it spells something out, i've just not bothered to personally try it yet.

I wouldn't be surprised. Game consoles are getting to be ridiculously powerful machines.

there will only be about 10 others consoles between now and then, so i wouldn't worry too much. by then you'll be playing the xbox 3600. stay off the cocaine bro.

Interesting question...... It might still be working, but unless Microsoft fixes that problem, then the time on the Console will be seriously screwed up.

Keep in mind that microsoft patches updates (those things that help change little parts of a game and the game system) and are even offering a 'new xbox experience' in november to everyone who own a 360... Trying to ease some fears here, but I'm sure if more people were that scared about it, they could just update the date... Plus I'm sure that they're hoping by then you will have bought some of the other systems they've released...

First off, who cares? The 360 PS3 and Wii will all be incredibly obsolete by then and also you need to get a clock.
I suppose if anybody still cares about 7th gen consoles in 2026 there will be an update that extends the year
