Anyone here played King's Bounty: The Legend yet? It's been kinda under the radar, but it really deserves some attention. It's a remake of the old classic King's Bounty. It plays a lot like Heroes of Might and Magic; you buy your armies and then fight enemies in a turn based chess-like battle. There's also a lot of roleplaying involved, you do quests and you gain experience which you can use to level up talents very similar to WoW. It's very addictive, and if you haven't played it, I urge you to try it (there's a demo on the site).

So anyone else played it? Discuss the game here.

The ability to acquire family and have children is a very important and interesting feature of King's Bounty: The Legend. Wife gives useful bonuses to hero and his army and adds ability to wear more equipment as she has four additional slots.

You can talk to your wife practically at any moment, all you need to do is to click on her portrait in the inventory. In the dialog you can divorce or start conversation about children. If you ask for a child and wife agrees, a kid will appear soon. Child occupies one slot and gives various bonuses to the hero's characteristics. Each wife can have up to four children.

In case of divorce remember that your wife will take children, all equipment from her slots and 1/5 of gold.

This snippet from the websites guide made me giggle.

Also it seems an army of Strahd von Zarovichs are enemies in this game (get 2d20 D&D cookies if you get this reference) http://www.kings-bounty.com/eng/show_scr.php?name=img/scr/scr73&res=1

It looks nice and colorful and all, but i'm dissapointed theres no option to play a FEMALE character (RAISE THAT CHILD, USELESS HOUSE HUSBAND) or customize your characters appearance at all.

Edit: Wait, are those beholders? http://www.kings-bounty.com/eng/show_scr.php?name=img/scr/scr56&res=1 I think this game just flipped open the AD&D monster manual and just started ripping shit off!

Yeah, that's a shame, especially since I play a mage, and they look completely retarded. However, the game makes up for it by making your character act like a complete douche. You get to choose if you want to accept a quest or not, but whatever you pick, your answer will be rude and arrogant. You usually don't get to play an asshole in rpgs, so I found it a refreshing and hilarious change of pace.

That sounds really great - buy armies then fight chess-style? I will look into this...

Chess like might not have been the best description, but yeah, sorta. If you've played Heroes of Might and Magic then you know what you're in for.
