I'm sure like many others i just cant wait to get my grubby little mits on it and am pretty sure that this will be one of if not my favourite game of all time. I mean i spent so much time on oblivion it was unreal and this just looks like its gonna surpass that. The trailers have given me enough information to spend an unhealthy amount of time fantasising about the game, i'm a grown man for gods sake this cant be good. I already booked as many days off from work as i could for when it comes out, im an addict its not good.

I just hope that there's enough class range to make this thing seem like a different game upon replaying it.

There are no classes in Fallout. You change your stats at character creation to reflect what you want your character to be able to do.

... thus, creating classes.

I didn't mean it in the "pick a guy from startup" type of class. I just meant, various skill differences between hand to hand, pistol, rifles, automatic weapons etc...

As for replayability due to good versus bad gameplay, I doubt it's that drastic. I remember hearing that old "you can do anything you want" line in Oblivion so the first thing I did when I got out of the dungeo was to kill a guard and take all his gear and his horse... then everybody magically knew that i did this and the game was almost uplayable from then on.

We'll see, and I hope I am wrong.

They could have kept this game one big secret and it still would have gone gangbusters. Here's hoping it tops GTA in sales and isn't just oblivion with guns

Except in Fallout, you could literally do whatever the hell you wanted. Now, there are unkillable characters and bosses that you only have two ways to kill.

Lame.

If they were that worried of losing the casual gamer they should have had warning screens telling you that you're about to break the game rather than making people invincible.

But that was the beauty of Fallout: If you killed every single character in the game, you could still win. You could also win by not killing anything at all. Bethsoft has taken the principle and screwed it up somehow.
Now, there are people you can only negotiate with, and people you can only kill. Which really sucks.

Is it just me or was the voice acting in those gameplay videos a little "weird"?

I played oblivion and let me tell you the voice acting was terrible;
there was this fellow Shegorath who was supposed to be irish and
i only found that out 3 months later while i was reading wikipedia!

Anyways since the producers are the same
i really hope that the voice acting isn't the same as it was in oblivion...

For all of you who played, i recognized Lucien (from the dark brotherhood) voice actor
and the one who did the acting (of voices!) for the redguards!

That was almost a gamebraker there. I guess they didn't want the "killing without reaction" gig setting up.... hang on....

Dark Brotherhood......

I never really understood why people got so excited about this game. Could somebody please enlighten me?

Honestly, I don't know much about it. But I know Bethesda's track record, and (despite my complaints about Oblivion), that's enough for me to get excited.

EDIT: Also, I am dieing to know if they will correct those mistakes (possibly resulting in the second coming), or run with them even further.

There are countless sci-fi and 'high' fantasy adventures out there, but Fallout is unique in terms of its post-apocalyptic setting. I can't speak for 3 (and I'd rather not speak about Tactics) but Fallout 1 & 2 are perfect examples of how to combine narrative complexity, philosophical depth, statistical tinkering, bleak humour and splattering ultraviolence. And they're damn good fun.

I too can't wait another 2 weeks for fallout 3, but one thing that still bugs me is how they used the Oblivion engine and everything looks the same as Oblivion (like how people move and stand and talk at you in a drone like manner)

Makes it feel like a non-canon Oblivion sequel.....but who cares, Oblivion is awesome too! XD

Okay, I understand that the series seems to have an excellent story and atmosphere, but is there anything that stands out about the gameplay itself?

Its visceral for a RPG..With headshots actually being headshots.

The combat is more actiony..For example you can one hit enemys with VATS if you invest in combat. (Okay so its more, You can choose to play it sorta like a FPS.)

So the game is basically an RPG with the combat of a shooter?

Oh no! I can't kill EVERYTHING! They've put STRUCTURE in my game! How will I exercise my homocidal tendencies!?

...Seriously people, you can kill -enough-. Theres nothing wrong with not being able to kill EVERYTHING.

After an incident with Australia's game review board nazi... thing, they modified ALL versions of the game. So, it will be slightly modified from the original production(they exchanged Morphine with a made up drug), but it won't be any different from what anyone else gets.

Nor is there anything wrong with wanting the same level of freedom in a sequel that was present in the earlier games in the series.

It's a gun that you can just dump random debris into for ammo. So yes, if you find a teddy bear, you can throw it in and shoot it at someone to kill them.

Hey, GenHellspawn, is the trap "option" still available? I loved assassinating people by sticking plastic explosives in their pockets.

Also, you could even kill the "endbossess" by sabatoging equipment or something. I assume this has also been taken out?

(I remember not having to even TOUCH the last boss in Fallout 2 becuase I switched the guns and had enclave NPCs helping)

You know, I think the fact that you can fire mother-fucking-teddy-bears at enemies and dismember and kill them somehow voids that problem. Just one step away from a weapon that fires weapons.

I really don't mind a few unkillable people or some zombies-with-no-brains-who-want-brains-zombies that I can't discuss the latest fashion with.
