I realize that we're on the precipice of a flamewar here, and I do want to avoid that, but you do realize that if it was all dark and shadows that it would be impossible to tell what was what on the screen, right? Do you really want to play an entire game that looks exactly the same in every location, especially a game as repetitive as Diablo? I'm not a Diablo fan, and I will probably never play Diablo III, but I can see why this art style is here, and I think it looks good. |

Ah...OK. That makes sense. I've never really been a fan of the series (Not that I don't like it, I just haven't played it enough) so I don't know about any new directions or anything like that. But that shirt kicks ass. I must have one. |

Haters because Blizzard STOLE a game and ruined it for all it's fans. Irrational? Tons of us have looked at the situation and proposed HUNDREDS of viable solutions for Blizzard that were tested previously, yet they did not want to listen to what could have clearly won them millions more fans. Outrageous and idiotic claims? We've never claimed anything that wasn't already known and always approached the issue intelligently, though the aura of massive STUPIDITY and GULLIBILITY of the fanboys causes some of us, me notably, to get extremely frustrated, I admit, and post some hatecrap. The only thing someone intelligent could accuse us of would be overzealotry. |

Turn the Gamma down on your monitor when you play the game, problem solved. Also if colours mean that much if you have an nvidia card they have a fairly extensive colour correction control panel. I'm fairly certain you can make the game look and feel much darker playing around with those, yes you will need to change them back everytime you play a different game but its an option. |

...How is it 'warcrafty', exactly? I've been looking at some of the Blizzcon previews, the game opens in Tristram forest amidst a plague of undeath. The last few survivors are burning their loved-ones corpses so they won't rise from the grave. One of your first quests is finding absolution for the ghost of a little girl who starved to death at the bottom of a well. |

More polygons would've been the LEAST they could've done. Burning corpses and a little girl ghost salvation? Was that at Blizzcon or is it something new they made up to try and save their asses? Knowing that this is true might alleviate the pain a little, but I'm still far from convinced. |

Gamespy mentioned it in a Blizzcon report. The wizard is asian (at least this universes version of it, coming from Xiansai) but she's the FIRST and ONLY Asian character so... Admittedly I would've preferred it if the Wizard was a crotchety old somewhat nefarious bastard who dabbled in evil lore, but they already have that- the witchdocter. The Wizard is supposed to be a hotheaded young mage of great talent who was forcibly ejected from the Vizerji mage clan when she entered forbidden Archives and got into a battle with a professor when she got caught. Then she escaped. At least, according to the website. What exactly are you complaining about? The structure of the teaser? it was just a teaser. Don't take the shit so seriously, i'm pretty sure there won't be alot of AHAHAHAHAHAH'ings in the actual game. Your so damn skittish, geese. Relax. |

What I mean is at least the witch doctor looks foreign to our universe, ya know? And barbarians were really developed characters in D2. Compared to them this looks like someone put a japanese girl in a scanner and removed a bunch of polygons. No offense. As for taking stuff seriously... I can't help it. I just loved Diablo so much that seeing it reduced to this is just... intoxicating. EDIT: Sorry for double post. |

Pleasing gamers, particularly fans of a long running series, is extremely difficult. Any change you make to a game's formula, be they mere graphics updates or the slightest, most perfunctory nod towards modern gaming mechanics, will fill long term fans with disgust and contempt. Contempt they will voice angrily and repetitively over the Internet.
Most developers either cave in and change their game to fit the idealistic vision of these nostalgia ridden cave trolls or ignore them completely. Blizzard has happened upon a superior third option. Antagonize them.
