Hi, I'm just wondering what games are you all looking forward to, and why if you can. Let's hope this year suceeds as well as last year, with Mass Effect, BioShock, etc.
My list:
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World - More Tales of Symphonia!
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia - My last hope for the DS this year.
Chrono Trigger DS - I want to see what all the rage is about.
Gears of War 2: Sequel to Gears of War.
Fable 2 - Two words: Co-Op RPG.
Halo 3: Recon - More Halo plotline is always a good thing.
Left 4 Dead - If it's anything like Zombie Survival or Panic!, this should be awesome.
-Gears 2 -Chrono Trigger DS, dont have a DS but I wanna see how well it turns out -Dissidia: Final Fantasy, a cleaver mix of smash bros, soul calibur, and strategic combat? hell yea!! -FF13
Nothing. I learned years ago that it's best to keep my expectations for a game as low as possible, and the best way to do this, I found, is to remain completely ignorant of any game release.
Every few months, I visit a few forums and ask there which recently released games are worth playing. Then I'll use youtube or gametrailers to find some user recorded gameplay videos and form my own opinion about the game, if I still don't know I download a demo and see if I like that(if there's no demo, I torrent the game and play the first 2 or 3 levels). This has caused me to buy maybe 2 or 3 games per year but usually that are 2 or 3 games I will still be playing in 2 years.(Orange box and CoD4 being my most recent purchases, CoD4 being my first waste of money in 3 years)
1.No More Heroes 2 (Hell yeah) 2.Madworld (Looks awesome) 3.Brutal Legend (Tim Schafer is the definition of "Epic win") 4.God of War III (I am such a God of War fanboy) 5.Gears of War 2 (Is shaping up quite nicely) 6.Fallout 3 (Looks like something I might enjoy) 7.Resistance 2 (I liked the fist one, and this one looks even better)
I have a love/hate relationship with Fallout 3 - sometimes I see it and think "OMG YES!" then I see some "new footage!" and think "Son of a bitch..." - sometimes both during the same video.
So anyway, my most anticipated this year is L4D, LBP, and Far Cry 2. All I can really afford to purchase this year.
Also, this thread has been done a zillion times, AND it's a list thread.
Darksiders: wrath of war(Good premise) Demigod(Who wouldn't want to play as one?) PROTOTYPE(I died alittle inside when it was pushed back) Mirror's edge(It's awesome) Prince of Persia(I liked the sands of time trilogy) Resistance 2(Kill the leviathan) SpiderMan, Web of Shadows(I don't care what you say, i like it.) Infamous(Shocking) God of War 3(Awesome)
List threads are frowned upon here, and this topic has been done to death. In the future use the search button and avoid list threads, welcome to The Escapist :)
You mean, like, this year, or for all games we know of?
In the case of the former, Resistance 2 LittleBigPlanet Motorstorm: Pacific Rift Rock Band 2 (still looking for a US supplier - any takers?)
Very likely, but not quite as high as the former Valkyria Chronicles Far Cry 2 Fallout 3 (both look good, but lack a certain bit of oomph. I'm open to anyone pointing out the oomph factor)
Ehhhh, could be good Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon Dead Space
For next year,
FUCK YES! I WILL HAVE IT Brutal Legend Another copy of Brutal Legend as even with scratch proof discs I'm gonna wear the first out inFAMOUS White Knight Chronicles (I've noticed a pattern - a game with a sequence where you turn into a giant tend to be instant classics - see Majoras Mask and Psychonauts for further details. So a game that offers that as its main feature....) God Of War III (Hell yeah!) Heavy Rain
darkstone: Prototype, seriously It's like I'm the only one who's heard of this game.
I've heard of it, but am I the only one who doesn't really give a shit about it? Like, it sounds a lot like the Venom Levels I remember playing in Ultimate Spiderman, and thats not exactly one of my treasured gaming memories. I'm not trying to flame you, just saying, like, forgive me if I don't start wetting myself as it comes closer to release, I'll be more happy about the game that comes out an estimated 3 days later.
Fable 2 and Fifa 09...I'm getting a bit too old to play games as often as I used to, but those two are the last two I'll play SERIOUSLY...they are my swan song games :)

hey don't worry about me taking it the wrong way, to each his own right? I was just pointing out the fact that I haven't read a single post mentioning this game since I joined.

It usually gets glossed over in favour of its competition - Web of Shadows and inFAMOUS.
I suppose it's because they're closer to release then prototype, a couple of other games I'm looking forward to is: the Ghostbusters game, Aliens: colonial marines,Red faction:guerrilla,Highlander,Alpha protocol, RE5, the new wolfenstein looks promising, dark void, Velvet assassin, Saboteur, and Batman: arkham asylum.
Funny, I thought last year was complete shite for gaming.
Demigod, Far Cry 2, and Brutal Legend are really all I'm actually excited for. Everything else just kinda gets a 'eh' out of me. There are a lot of neat concepts out there (Mad World for instance), but these days, I'm just too jaded after seeing 'neat concepts' get run into the ground and shat all over by greedy publishers or just get plain over-hyped.
I'm definitely looking forward to fable 2 and left 4 dead most of all. mainly because i enjoyed fable one so much (part of this may have been my complete lack of foreknowlege, not listening to peter M mouth off. And left 4 dead has zombies! what more do i need to warrent a purchase!
