RWAR!

My understanding of the class packs are that they focus on the then-ignored classes.
As I've heard, before the March update, you couldn't spot a medic anywhere in a game, MAYBE one...rarely.POOF, medic up date : 4-6 per team XD.

then the hated, underpowered useless pyro. POOF update : PYRO HEAVEN.
And now the heavy...well people mostly still hate him because Natascha is useless and the heavy is STILL slow but hey.

People conceive this as "Oh, 1 attack, defense, and support class update", but if you look - they're also all mostly ignored or UP classes.

That's why my *initial guess* for the next class pack was either sniper or the spy. Teh spy is broken and severely underpowered due to bad netcode, hit detection and animation issues, which prevent the user from getting truly legitimate backstabs (I myself backstabbed a medic and he just simply walked off. He didn't evne turn around !).

However, the latest blog post of "Git along there little doggies" on TF 2's official blog makes my mental peen throb in anticipation and hope of what is perhaps an ENGINEER PACK!
The engie is hated and laughed at as the "Noob-friendly idiot class where you set up a sentry and whack it all day". IT would fit the overlooked \hated part of the update.

So yes, I suspect we are getting an engie update next (Although I think the spy \ scout need more work, TBH).
All ranting aside : What is your guess?

I think either the scout or the spy..btw I've always used the pyro and I'm always the medic of the group(mainly because my friends suck at healing), I really really hope there is no engineer pack because it would be utterly useless, an engineer is kind of overpowered sometimes

Only if you play it well.

I've seen my teammates stupidly build a sentry behind mine. I mean, wow, okay, you suck.
Then another one of my teammates felt the unexplainable urge to put a dispenser ...infront of the spawn.

If you play smart as an engineer, the other team is in for a tough time.
Consider this : Even one layed teleporter saved atleast 12 seconds off the person's time getting back into the fight, which is a massive advantage. Heavies especially need this, just imagine, a big tank dies, then appears right back in the battle not ten seconds later, instead of say, half a minute later.

People just hate the engineer because of how noob-friendly it is.

I'm expecting an update to the Scout (though he's quite good in the hands of skilled players and doesn't really need an update), or maybe an Engineer with some new equipment; for example, you can swap out dispensers for a spy-detecting device, or sentry guns for a more powerful healing station. Maybe even new types of turrets, like a sentry gun that gives up its ranged attack for a close-range flamethrower (it would have to be smaller, to make it easier to hide). Obviously those ideas would need some tweaking, but you get the idea.

On the somewhat offtopic note pertaining to TF 2 : Who else feels that the "all-accurate" pistol is horrible?
Even the Spy's magnum only hits 80% of the time, some bullets just WHAM go way outside the reticle if you are shotgun or farther range away.
But the pistol is truly nothing short of tragit. It's depicted and praised as an "accurate weapon to pick off enemies".

And yet, the accuracy is terrible. People have proven that from 2fort battlement to battlement, in severel tests, shotgun shots fired were actually MORE ACCURATE thant he "accurate" pistol...isn't that just sad?

I disagree, As an engie (no one was defending our briefcase :P) I killed a heavy and pyro at about full health in a tunnel on 2fort. Maybe it was just luck but I think if you know how to use a pistol it is effective.

Anyways I'd like to see a spy update, just 'casue of all the cool possibilities (like an instant teleportation device or the ability to put down poison hp packs)

I love it when people play the " you don't know how to use it" or "I know how to use it" card.
So how can you use a pre-programmed weapon in an FPS?
Because all I can see happening is you point and click. Obviously, aiming at something as huge as a human isn't a big deal...

Anyway, yeah I'm dying to see spy gadgets \ engie unlocks. Hell, my idea for an engie sentry was a throwable turret that latches unto walls and can only be upgraded to level 2 - if you could reach it. Imagine placing one of these on the roof of your intel room. Spy sees no sentry, grabs intel, gets mowed down. It would prevent demomen and spies getting to it so there would be a BAWWWW that it was OP ...
...unfortunately.

Mmmm... I just want to actually ask you all a Q... Does anyone have a reliable contact that I can bother valve at? Preferably email. I just want to know when ANY class pack, map pack, or update will be released for consoles... And though they alluded to it in a eurogamer interview last year, nothing has come about of it... But besides that, let us hope spy. My favorite class, though yes, he is severely underpowered in most scenarios...

Sadly, no.
There is an email that they mostly ignore.
Except Gabe Newell, he directly replied to criticisms that the demoman is overpowered - as he obviously is. He said that "Internally, we at Valve call the STickies "winbombs" ....and I was quoting as literally as I could.

I'm assuming that if and when information on that gets out, it will be posted on www.teamfortress.com 's blog. Now that they are mostly done with L4D, we can expect a class pack within the next couple of weeks. Medic-Pyro-Heavy all took 2 months each (Infact, I took a sixty day vacation to Canada right as the Pyro came out. When did I return? The same day as the heavy pack! DAMN! ).

Currently a sticy situation- the class packs are already partially out for PC, for free. Valve is releasing them for free. However, Microsoft insists DLC is charged for, thus they and Valve are at an impasse because Valve refuses to charge for it...or something. So Class Packs for TF2 on the 360 are held up.

Doesn'T mean you should halt the packs on the PC. Valve owns the rights to the game, Micro$oft just distributes ita nd content for it. It is already a vastly inferior version to the PC in many ways (Look up the comparison sheet on one of the wikis).
Dedication to gamers means the reachable ones get the bonuses they deserve, IMO.
But yeah, I heard micro$oft is trying to milk people, and I consider that absolutely disgusting :-\..

Spy or Scout update? Christ..they're probably the most powerful classes in the right hands.

I've seen both rip a twin-turret, twin dispenser twin engineer base to bits without breaking a sweat.

It's not holding up the PC packs. Just the 360's.

Hoping for a spy pack, they seem horribly broken and weak at the moment, scout on the other hand seems completely overpowered for me o_O the speed is insane for dodging bullets so most other classes cant hit me, only thing which really would get you killed is a tight corner next to a pyro/soilder or maybe even a demo.

Valve basicly told us that the engineer is next.. Where were you? Pyro hated and under powered? I played pyro before the update and I could kick the ass of almost any class in most situations. I mean all the pyro update did was add the new axe which makes taking down heavies pant wetting easy. That damn flare gun is useless and the backburner doesn't work half the time.

Hrrrrm...Engineer updates...

1) Ammo Dispenser : Replaces Normal Dispenser : The Ammo Dispenser refills at 75% of the normal rate but also repairs/reloads Turrets within range.

2) Swag Bag : Replaces Pistol : You can now carry 300 metal, but your speed is reduced.

3) Electro Wrench : Replaces Wrench : Enemies struck by your wrench are slowed (as Natasha) but upgrade speeds are halved.

As for the Pyro : The Flare Gun is great for sniping but the Backburner really requires you know the way around the maps. If you can get behind enemy lines, especially on the 'bomb' missions, it's devastating.

Yeah, the flaregun is golden on maps like 2 fort. Hit a sniper and he'll run back to heal up like a pussy :-D. IT's epic and useful, if rather piss weak.

Uhhh it also added the, you know, AIRBLAST :-P
FTR, I hate Backburner though. The maps were not made for ambushing. BIg area - corridor - big area. EVERY MAP HAS THIS!

The logic they use is "Oh get behind someone and we "reward" you with 100% crits". Good f*cking luck. For the price of pure luck, you lose your airblast, making you the weakling you were pre-patch against soldiers and demomen :-P. I think not lol.
And if I DO get behind someone BY ACCIDENT, they'Re pretty much dead with the normal flamethrower anyway, you know?
Or I can puff and axe and all but a heavy instadie anyway.

Edit : also, those unlockables all suck balls, they obviously aren't the real ones.
Natascha proves that slowing is useless, or in the VERY kindest - situational. I fail to see how the SLOEST CLASS i nthe game can run ahead of the entire much faster class race, to the front line, and survive past shotgun range, slowing people who can then giggle and gleefully run back to heal up.
I just absolutely fail to see the usefulness of the gun.
Sidenote here : This usually invites a "You're a noob!" or a "you doN't know how to use it" from rabid fanboys. Hilariously - how CAN you use a gun?Wait, ...point and click?I GOT IT? ZOMG
*ahem*

Ah, but there's really nice things about Natascha...

For one, Goodbye Circle-Strafing Scouts.
for two, Retreating enemies? Not any more.
for three, the sound when you get hit is quite un-nerving so that non-vets will expect something really bad has happened and will panic.
For four, approaching pyro? Seeya sucka.

OM NOM NOM

If you're playing the Pyro as a Spy, use Backburner; if you're playing as a Scout/heavy, use Flamethrower; but the Flare Gun Sniper is most amusing.

All of those are luck and situation based. It sacrifices the damage dealing class' DAMAGE.
Smart scouts will run away before the thing even spins up or find cover. Enemies can infact retreat because the slow effect needs five bullets to slow the person enough so the rest connect and KEEP him slowed.
What sound?
Yyyeeeeah pyro can still flaregun you to death xD.

My dear sir, as Sun Tzu once said, control the terrain and you've won half the war. You make those situations appear. :)

When you get slowed, there's a sound similar to the headshot one. And if you're a heavy going in without being wound up, you deserve a slap.

the heavy isnt really a damage dealing class though, yeah it can pack a punch but its more of a tank than a damage dealing class. most people see the big fucker and try to take him down while forgetting about the pyros/soldiers/demomen.

I know what you mean, but still. THe minigun is inaccurate as hell past shotgun range , so most of the shots intended to slow miss, and therefore DON'T SLOW. And yes, I do usually move without spinning up, because, guess what, the heavy is f*cking slow. I spin up near the front and around corners...not a noob fyi XD.

...and medics, seriously people see a heavy medic combo and they STILL go for the heavy it's up to those of us with any ounce of common sense to kill the medic (in my case with the backburner) and then crit the heavy from behind no matter how many time it's pointed out you still get the idiots who think they can go toe to toe with a fulled healed heavy. Grr, yeah i think a spy update is needed there are some serious problems with that class in general it's almost like they rushed that class to get it out quicker. Still wondering what they will possibly do with the scout update :s

Hehe, yeah.I always shout like a drunken dumbass " GO FOR THE MEDIC!" . But people are so mentally impotent ;_;
They expect to take down 450 +regen+ hp within shotgun range with their putput weapons XD..
It's rather hilarious, until your team loses because of the same idiots...

AMEN!
I used to giggle at people who ubered heavies.
They'd take a second or two to realize what's up, four or more to waddle into position and another to spin up and fire, so XD.
Uber a pyro? Now he runs out, flames EVERYTHING and people run for cover - and you can advance.

I also find sadistic pleasure and fascination in kritzing a soldier or a heavy =3.
Though one time my intended kritz target died, so I had to use it on a spy, who thankfully got the hint. He killed all 3 of my pursuers in 1 clip o_o.

Oh man there is one heavy in this server i play on that gets like 4 medics on him at a time so annoying, he a good player and everyone knows that why i get kinda annoyed at medic as they do tend to hover around the top playesr in the server and leave the rest of us to tiddle our thumbs and die alot.

fake weapons for the spy would be good. Or the ability to eavesdrop on enemy comms.

Yeah, I love playing sniper, but I hate sniper v. sniper. I never win so I can wait. The spy will be a nuisance, and the engineer a pain the the ass.
I think that engineer will be coming soon.

EDIT: Not a strong move starting teh thread with "RWAR"

Criterion was able to get the Burnout updates to be free for the 360, and those were pretty similar to the class updates as far as changing the game goes. My theory is that they're waiting until they finish all of them so they can release it as one big pack o' fun.
