We all remember those special games from back when we could barely talk, yet we were building theme parks or hospitals or pizza empires far and wide.
My fondest memory as a little diaperstainer was Theme Park. THe first, original, and BEST Bullfrog creation to date.
It was massive fun, it was as easy as you wanted (Or as hard..), and it was the first of its' kind.

What older games do you want brought back into the daylight with either updated-graphics remakes or perhaps XP patches?
(My idea of a "remake" is graphical only, and maybe bugfixes or music quality increase. Klonoa : Door to phantomile for the PS 1 is getting re-done for the Wii. Go check it out to see a good example).

System Shock 2 desperately needs a proper Windows XP patch. The fan-made mods and fixes work sometimes, but not all the time, and I've been unable to get the game playable for months.

More importantly, we need some serious Vista patches for some older games.

Oh, and I'd love to see the old Fallouts redone with sharper graphics. I'm just worried that if I would try to go pack and play them again, the horribly dated graphics would be tough to overcome. (Not necessarily the game's fault, they are over 10 years old)

"XP patch" means XP patch.
I, as about 95% of the internet, considers Vista a hilarious failure of power and CPU-whoring eyecandy incompatibility.
Further, it's supposed to be " a generation ahead". XP patches should come out first, as not only do most people sitll have good, working, solid XP installs, but XP is a generation CLOSER, so it would be less of an anal rape to program said patch for..

That, and any dark engine game really.

One of the X-com games that DOESN'T have an XP patch. Not sure which ATM...
...aaaaand anyone even remember "The Horde"? You played some kind of knight who had to beat up an invading horde of red...creatures. Not sure what. You had to protect a town season by season, laying traps like pitfalls, had weapons like a morning star and got gold based on your performance.

IT was a bloody hard game...
Pizza Tycoon even.

maybe its just me but are you hinting at other bullfrog games being unoriginal? 0.o

but yeah a nice XP patch for that would be nice..and Dungeon Keeper.. and Warhammer Dark Omen and Warlords 3... and tyrian.. christ i think of quite a few.

I meant the first ever original Theme Park. Not the crappy remakes like Sim Theme Park and god knows what else there was. Theme Hospital wins, Hospital Tycoon fails.
I was referring to the Bullfrog based games, but in this case, the specific bullfrog-theme park.
My bad on the confusion. It's past midnight, I'll gtfo to bed..

This thread needs to be on the gog.com beta forums so this can actually happen!

Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2. Seriously, you couldn't play it on anything after 98. And Vista absolutely refuses to let it work.

Have you tried Gametap? They have it. You may have to pay a monthly fee to play it, but they have some awesome games there, and I beleive for paying the monthly fee you get all the games to play.

Twisted Metal... Rune: Viking Warlord... Vectorman... Ummm.... That's all I've got for right now, I'll be around later though.

EDIT: OH! And one game I was obsessed with when I was really little was The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse on SNES... Good times with that one...

Are you sure Gametap has it? I tried the search function, but nothing comes up..

Yeah, I've tried all the support forums I can find. I've managed to play through year one with minimal problems, but I'd just freeze and crash randomly in year two. Anyways, I really wish Lucasarts could find the brains to leave Star Wars alone for a few years and maybe give their loyal adventure games cult a break.

All of you are forgetting, you can just use a virtual PC if it's playability you want. If you expect a remake or something, good luck.

I concur. It's an ongoing issue with a recognized classic.

On an unrelated note, does anyone else experience REALLY FAST world map travel in Fallout 2 under XP? It's not the sort of thing that utterly ruins the experience, but it basically eliminates the need for the highwayman and reduces the number of random encounters significantly. Oddly, the same is not true of Fallout 1.

I get the same problem too in Fallout 2, but only sometimes.

The really fast world map travel in fallout 2 is a very funny issue. The movement rate is based on the speed of your processor for some reason, but the random encounter rate is independent so it pretty much removes random encounters completely depending on your specs. If you buy it through gog.com the issue is fixed. Also some of the mods for the game fix the issue as well.

Duke Nukem 3D. That would be sweet with HD graphics.

They should update the infocom games. I loved those when I was a kid, even though I was never good enough to get very far they were always lots of fun.

You, as roughly 95% of the internet, are so reluctant to change that even someone with severe autism would punch you for it and tell you to accept it.

Honestly, I've never had a problem with Vista.
In fact it seems more stable than XP...

That's exactly my problem with old games, I find it extremely hard to get past the outdated Graphics, I tend to have an acute sensitivity to Graphic's and Frames Per Second, which makes it even worse ¬___¬

I want a new Chrono Trigger game. Sequel or remake would work for me. I want a good Castlevania game, another 2d would be ok, or if they could just learn to do 3d right.
