TsunamiWombat: 1. I can't find the goddamned Lincoln Memorial portrait. I have EVERY Lincoln artifact besides that (i'm wearing his hat and got the beard, plan to find this Paradise Falls place and pay the slavers a visit with the repeater). Anyone know where in the museum it is?

I know what you mean. The quests are very fragile in a way. It can be tough to anticipate what your words or actions will result in, and you'll wonder afterward what would have happened if you said or did something different.

I was raiding the remnants of the White House, and after Dogmeat was killed by the behemoth, I booted up an old save file and sent Dogmeat to vault 101, and now I can't find him. Any advice?

Yup, I remember in my first playthrough, whenever I found Nuka-Cola Quantum, I drank right up, made the Nuka Cola Challenge a ball buster of a quest

Beard you can get in character creation, don't know about the hat though
Those of you who played Fallout 3, what did you get on your GOAT?
[/quote]
I kept getting Marriage Counselor, even though I Asked granny for a minigun, i turned the kid in after taking his crap, and when I told off the mad scientist.
I got Tattooist in the G.O.A.T exam, a rough, tough, hairy bad ass which sums up everything my character isn't once i started playing the game.
it seems incredibly tough to play the "evil" route when everyone around you are so mean that they could eat the face off a lost puppy at any moment, i went into megaton with every intention of nuking the place to kingdom come. After discovering my skill wasn't high enough even with mentats I ignored it only to come back later, disarm it after the horrors i saw in the wastes and eventually wandering over to tenpenny towers to shoot tenpenny in the face for being a bad impersonator of Hugh Heffner.

Y'know, I don't think I ever answered that; my GOAT result was Vault chaplain. Yay Mr. Goodie-Two-Shoes. (The resulting boost to Barter and Speech came in handy, though.)
Darndest thing, I kept getting Mechanic and Janitorial duty. Evil suddenly became very easy to play. I'm the Vault Boogieman and I'm coming to get'cha!
I'm mad at how easily dogmeat dies, I love that damn dog, and he dies with a couple hits. So now I have to leave him at vault 101 all the time. It makes me sad I cant have him with me all the time.

Hey! I did the same exact thing--last half of the game I was looking out more sharply for Quantum than Miniguns! Good thing Quantum glows, at least.
And yeah--that is the tough thing about the game. You think you're just going about your business,

Which...I is why the game is so awesome. That feeling that everything is so fragile *does* make one queasy...in a good way once you can let go of the feeling that other games give you, because you HAVE to play it in this one way or your won't get the full experience. It seems in Fallout, no matter how many storylines you break, you just wind up making new ones anyway in the process. Like, after that stuff that happened in the spoiler tag, I became much more...protective of Megaton.
Even if the ending is horrible and the slideshow recap has almost nothing to do with any of the specific things you did in the game and I could have filled everyone in Megaton full of railroad spikes as long as I left the beggar outside alive and made like he was a post-apocalyptic stripper and I made it rain with purified water. I have a feeling they planned to do it like 1 and 2

I don't think I've ever been as attached to a video game character as I was to my sidekicks in Fallout 3. Especially Charon. (Alyx Vance might be an exception?)
I played as a paragon of goodness for most of the game, but after a discreet contract kill I ended up with Charon as my personal bodyguard. I loaded him up with the second best weapons and armour I could find (reserving the best for myself, of course) and we had so many adventures together! My favourite was when we single-handedly destroyed the entire slaver camp at Paradise Falls without even asking their names.
I went through a lot of the game with Charon and even imagined all the conversations they'd be having as they travelled along. Eventually I started calling him 'Argyle' because it just sounds better. Whenever a sidekick died, I immediately reverted to the last saved game - no matter what.

I just hope he appreciated that I constantly threw myself in between enemies and him to ensure his survival. I'm a lot faster with the Stimpaks than he is. (Fawkes never seemed to need Stimpaks for some reason.)

ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?!?!?!? He takes, like, 7 missiles to kill! Deathclaws and Yao Guai are exceptions, but you know what, all followers are killed pretty quickly by them.

I've had Fireant's take him out pretty quickly too.

Alright, I stretched the truth a bit, Flamers take him out fast too, but guns don't, so for most activity in the wastes, you can bring him along
Just got the game yesterday, and already I;m lost...
I;m at level 6 and trying to make my way to GNR plaza station. I come out at friendship heights metro station, and then can;t seem to find any way to get to the location on the map, as every route tehre is blocked by huge piles of rubble. There doesn't seem to be any way to get there through the metro either. My one thought is that tehre's a locked door down in the friendship station that I don't have a high enough skill to get through; is that the right way?
edit: just realised I'm not at the right metro station yet

Well, even on easy when I'm trying my hardest to protect him he dies easily against raiders and even other humans. I love dogmeat, but he gives me an ulcer when I'm in combat.

Well an ulcer is caused by microbes/infection inside your stomach, so dogmeat is one weird dog.
Anyway I'm going to be a good karma player, but still blow up megaton. Anybody else try this?
EDIT: And will I distroy other places with megaton?

I fast travelled to the regulator hq to turn in ome fingers. There was a radscoprion outside but I ignored it, running into the building. What I found when I get inside was Sonora Cruz fleeing. I couldn't talk to her, and she ran out of the building and I haven't seen her again. And my last save game was 3 hours before...
I checked the wiki, and it seemed that the only solutions involved using the developer console, which I couldn't work out how to work. It told me to use the kill, resurrect, and bring to player commands on her (her reference number being 6f212), but all the permutations of how those commands could be entered didn;t seem to be working.
Here Thar Be Spoilers! Now that I have completed the game and have collected almost every unique item I decided to prove myself the greatest boxer in the wasteland. I killed everyone in Evergreen Mills, set the game to very hard, unequiped everything and had a punch up with the Behemoth.
Funnily enough the hardest boxing opponent is Fawkes; when you first release her and walk into the large circular chamber that will later be used to send you to raven rock prison, punch Fawkes as much as you can, she hits hard, fast and constantly regenerates health.
By the way how do you put text into a spoiler box?

Isn't Fawakes a man? Has a mans voice, has a mans name.
I admitt it he might be a girl and that becoming a super muntant could make them mono-gender but why call Fawakes a "she"?
EDIT: Because she is female. After a google search I can say Fawakes is female. Now thats creapy.
Yes they do. They are caused when stress leads to overproduction of acid in the stomach, and this acid causes inflammation on an exposed are of the stomach wall. This Inflammation eventually become ulceration. (I have one.)

If you go south from the HQ the ammunition buildings you should find Sonora Cruz down there getting killed by raiders or some such. It can take a bit to find her but just look out for "Sonora Cruz is unconscious" and follow the sound of gun fire...
