Biggest game-related disappointment of the year?

please note that this doesn't have to be a game that flopped, it can be some kind of event, (like E3), or anything which was a disappointment so long as its to do with games

my biggest disappointment has to be Spore... it had so much potential and isn't actually a bad game, its just that it was killed by its own hype i think

Yeah E3 was crap. Microsoft's was okay, but Nintendo's was painfully bad.

I agree, E3.
Nintendo's place in my heart was ripped out and replaced with Valve.
The Wii Music demo seriously made me tear up because of its patheticness.

Well for me it was star wars: the force unleashed it was the most disappointed game of all this year for me. Ok at first it was ok but 5 min while playing and the bug land begin. How in hell they couldn't fixed most of the bugs, ow and better that I don't go down the road because of the difficult level let say that for my taste even on the hardest it was like playing super mario. And the whole thing about dmm fuzz it is really bad engine ok in tech demo it was great but in-game is was worth like a pile of sh*t.

Ok enough hate for star wars:tfu (for now).

The Bungie announcement at E3 being canceled, but it's been announced now so it's all good.

Finding out that they are going to disband Ensemble Studio.

Finding out CoD: WaW is going to be back in WW2.

I will think of more later.

I have a Nintendo-shaped tear in my sanity now.

My disapointment: Argos was selling fable 2 on the 15th as they got the stock early. I waited till the 16th to go get it by then they had stopped after realising their mistake :(

wow, quite a lot of disappointment at Ninetendo lol, though to be honest, im not really suprised... did they have ANY decent games released this year impart from De Blob, which is only "kinda good" at best?

Yeah, also confusing. Why would they disband the best and most profitable internal studio they own?

E3 was a huge let down.
So was(at least for me) KOTOR 3 becoming an MMO and star wars the force unleashed..being what it is.

That Little Big Planet was delayed once again on the eve of launch, and not because the network servers weren't ready, or there was some freaky error somewhere, but because someone thought that a fleeting quotation from the Qu'ran in one of the music tracks might offend every one in a hundred-thousand Muslims. I don't blame the company, but rather society as a whole for being so insanely over-twitchy about "racism", or "pickyness", as I call it. This reminds me of the Resi 5 trailer all over again. Where do these easily-offended people live? They must all hide in a bunker somewhere, constantly scanning the media for things to get annoyed about and delay people's fun for weeks. I was all ready to rent LBP and everything...*fume*.

The closing of Ensemble Studios. I've been playing AOE3 a lot lately. Sad stuff.

Spore.

Too Human being a big bowl of shit.

Force Unleashed being so terribly buggy.

Nintendo and its laughably bad E3 showcase.

KOTOR 3 being an MMO...that one cut deep.

Fallout 3 being pushed back until October 28 (Nine more days, woohoo!).

The disappointing lack of good games for my Wii (Replaying Twilight Princess for the fifth time right now).

The new 360 Fall update. I want my 360s dashboard to look like a 360s dashboard, not a damn Wii that has more clothing options for its Miis!

E3 was boring as all hell. It seemed that only Microsoft where the only ones trying to put up a decent show. It had nothing interesting and primarily consisted of each company boasting their painfully underwhelming ideas and products. I was watching it during work and i was even MORE bored while watching it than waiting for my boss to lead me to my next job.

I never expected anything great out of E3, what with all the changes they've been making. But I would say my biggest dissapointment was Spore. I was expecting an expansive game with huge customization, not a gathering of sub-par versions of popular games.

Yup Spore as well here but I'll go a little further by saying that it IS a bad game.

I will tell you my opinion when the year is up.....

As a PS3 owner, I can't say I'm all that disappointed this year.

I wish Home was out... but that's about it.

Spore, EA had a chance to put out a good product to please everyone. It was just epic fail on many levels with DRM.

Nintendo at E3 was pretty bad also.

..Mercenaries 2. Could have been so much better. AoC was bad too, and the cutbacks on E3 were pretty weak.

Brawl?

But Nintendo have really let me down. Yeah, they're top dog again, but at what cost?

The delay of LittleBigPlanet. I know it is a very short delay, but the reason for it was completly outrageous. For those who don't know, it was delayed because of some quote from the Quaran in one of the songs. Nobody cared about the quote when that song was written, and I believe that either it or the Artist is a Grammy winner.

My 360 bricked today. I've had it for 2 or 3 years and I never had a problem with it; then it chooses to be an asshole and die when I'm on the epilogue missions of Saints 2. As well as a week before Fallout and A DAY before Fable 2. I have both reserved and I am getting them but all I will be able to do for a month is hold them, stare, and cry.

To Human is soooooooooooooo bad, they're gonna really have to work hard to make a game worse than this.

I'm gonna go with the flow and say E3. I used to be trying to track down a Wii. And now I'm not trying anymore.

E3 basically.

Microsoft won announcment-wise (FFXIII, Netflix)
Sony won game-wise (God of War III, LittleBigPlanet, real EXCLUSIVE titles)
Nintendo won suckage-wise (Nothing...)

That and LBP's delay.

Why?

when i found out that Dead Pheonix was canceled. it looked really good

SPORE

This was the game that was supposed to put Maxis back on the map of pinnacle of videogames.
It ended up being 5 shallow mediocre games mashed up together. It really took them ten years to make this game?

Alone in the Dark

If you think the Xbox 360 version was bad, try playing it on the PC...

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Another mediocre game that fits well within the console legacy of shallow 8 hour long games with a $60 pricetag on it.

Nintendo at E3. also i just looked at the banjo kazooie ad and on the site it said it was going to be an Xbox exclusive?? what the crap guys?!

Call me negative, but I'm fairly paranoid about Peter Molyneux being able to deliver Fable 2 in pre-release projected glory. I sort of feel that the game may not live up to the aura.

What do you mean? Microsoft owns Rare now.

& see if they've done any real good with the company (I do like how the new Banjo & Kazooie looks, but Where's a true goldeneye remake)

I am not a huge fan of the LBP delays
and Too Human wasn't terrible, but was Way-overhyped, Haze almost was king of that category, 'Till it got edged out

Goldeneye doesn't need remaking, it's glory days have come and gone. Let other franchises take up the mantel.

And besides, Rare's only made more than one game in the Donkey Kong Country and Banjo-Kazooie franchises. All of their excellent shooters stand alone.
