Brawl was a bit of a disappointment, on two halves: one was the player's hightened expectations for the game. To me (and maybe it is just to me, I don't honestly know), it just felt like Melee re-vamped. The second was Nintendo's lack of foreplanning to counter these expectations. Hey, at least Madworld looks interesting, hm? A playable Sin City, how bad can that be? |

So basically Sony won announcement-wise too? But yeah, E3 in general, and Nintendo's conference was a disaster. |

No, they won game-wise. Microsoft announced them "stealing" FFXIII, Netflix, some south park game, and Portal" Still alive. One which is multiplatform, one which was beaten by Sony who put up the same service the night of their conference, and one that was already on PC. they showed a level in Gears of War 2, a few seconds of Fable II and everything else they boasted about were Multiplatform titles. Sony won game-wise, showing gameplay footages of LBP, Resistance 2, Infamous, that collage of their exclusive games, and announcing God of War III which we all knew was coming anyway and MAG. Nintendo just....sucked....I was hoping for a Kid Icarus more or less for my friend but....nothing. |
Paperboy Posts: 23 Joined: 17 Oct 2008 | Starcraft 2 isn't out yet. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't announce the damn thing so freaking early for no reason, but they did. |

Luckily. there's going to be a PC release. So, I'll eventually be able to mod it. Diablo 3 was announced but we probably won't see it for two more years. Finding out that the previews found at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2 were for a PSP game, and not Kingdom Hearts 3. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2440 Joined: 11 Oct 2008 | My biggest dissapointment this year was my Wii breaking and the fact that I still can't afford a 360 at the moment XD I haven't tried any of the over-hyped games enough to judge (except for Brawl, but I actually really enjoyed it). But also,
What? That's news to me. I don't really keep track but can you give me a couple details? I know my friend would be curious about that. |

Dude goldeneye was good for it's time but it is crap by today's standards, I'm sure that if they remade it, you people would hate it and whine like bitches, just like everyone seems to do for everything these days... I mean have you people gotten so picky and so critical that you can't enjoy anything new? I'm sure that the next wave of new games will come out and most of you will whine and bitch that fallout 3 is too (insert negative adjective here) and fable 2 is (insert whiny gripe about nothing here). I mean Jesus tapdancing Christ will you people just lower your standards a little bit so you can enjoy games again. |

By "Grammy winner", I think you mean "Muslim". The LBP situation is just ridiculous. I found it very amusing when Muslim pressure groups started criticising Sony for being so over-sensitive. It's been a pretty awesome year in games for me so far, and to be honest I can't think of any huge disappointments. Spore was a real shame - it held so much promise during its development, and I don't think anyone could have predicted the sheer level of fail that it eventually turned into. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 466 Joined: 18 Oct 2008 | I think I'm going to have to agree with you on Spore. I really loved it the first few days but it got boring way too soon. You can be creative and all that, but it doesn't matter how your creature looks at all. It's all about the stats he has anyway and wether his attacking thing is on his eye or ass, it's purely aesthetic. Anyway, I could have seen it coming though. The Sims bored me too so it was kind of silly of me to think that Spore would be that much different. |

I agree. KOTOR 3 as an MMO makes me sad. I loved KOTOR 2, and can't get my hands on the original, but WHY? There's enough MMOS out there and half the mechanics will be stripped down and the gameplay dumbed down to the point of retardation, to make it most mainstream. |

So i bought a brand new copy of Oblivion for £20, and it fucking crashed again. So i started a new file and i finnished the shrine and it crashed, so i am pissed off and stumped. Considering it was a gaming expo, and they were the only one who had fans walking away actually looking foward to a few things the others weren't, they won the expo. Has anybody but me realised that there haven't been any good South Park games since the FPS one on the N64 (and the Playstation and PC or so I heard), and even that was only good because of how incredibly juvenile I was at the time and cause it tapped into my love of crazy-ass guns and cheat codes, and that maybe this one won't be the be all and end all best gamer evarrrrrr just because its new? Infamous Scribbler Posts: 665 Joined: 9 Jun 2008 | Where to begin... E3 and Nintendo, "Hey here is stuff you could already to with your Wii, but we are going to continue to shove it down your throat, oh and fu** you loyal Nintento fans." Spore - Hype, Hype, Hype, Hype, Hype... ass full of pipe wrench, crapy game that you don't truly own. Too Human - so much potential, I mean, how can you make a game with cybernetics and Thor bad. That takes skill. Little Big Plant Delayed, over nothing. The Muslim comunity was not offended. I do blame the creators for not knowing what was in there game. If they did they could have corrected it earlier an not been delayed. (and I don't even own a PS3). Force Unleashed - I bought it so I felt complelled to play through it. Some of the force powers were cool, but very broken game. PSN - EULA, fu** you Sony, I'm happy with my 360 and you have now convinced me to never buy a PS3. Starcraft 2 - in three parts (is that correct?). As if Blizzard doesn't have enough money already. Have we all learned the lesson from Half Life episodic games... Which brings me to HL2 Episode Whatever - not coming out until Jesus will hand deliver it. And lastly (hides behind cover) Fable 2, don't get me wrong, I love the game. The gameplay is awesome, it is Fable upgraded. But this game has more bugs than Cortney Loves meat curtans. I have only played for about 5 hours (I'm still in Bowerstone, I'm just assassinating people and buying up the slums, I want to be a slum lord) and I have had over a dozen graphical glitches (bettles materializing in the cieling), horrible bump maping, my dog floating in mid air, the "A" to interact with things will pop up when you can't really do anything or you need to be holding you toung the right way to get it to recognize that you tapped A. But these are all graphical and some minor interface issues, the gameplay is solid and fun, so don't hurl bricks. Because of all of these disapointments, I am very leary of Fallout 3. I will be buying Gears 2 for sure, but I will probably wait until Fallout 3 becomes a Platnum hit. They only game so far this year (IMHO) that has lived up to all of my expectations was Dead Space. Every aspect of the game was designed to creep you out and emerse you in the game... so far, for me, Game of the Year. |

Paperboy Posts: 24 Joined: 22 Oct 2008 | My personal biggest disappointment of the year has to be the scan line issues with the new PSP3000. I was going to buy one as my first PSP and get Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, but not anymore. It looks horrible. |

I'm curious, what's so bad in the PSN (assuming that's the Playstation networking bit) EULA? Don't have a PS3 and I'd just like to know what's been put in beyond every other one that has people peeved. |

Something about how star wars is also a gaming franchise. Did you read through every post and decide to pick out my post for the simple reason that one of three examples i gave was non-applicable? If this is so then I beg of you: step off, already! |

Too Human was pretty great compared to what others think. The only disappointments I can think of is ES disbanding. That sucks.
