Your own little bad habits that take playing the game much harder, or take longer.

In any RPG with more than one character, I'll alwqays try to grow them equally. This is fine in something like Golden Sun, but in Disgaea 3, where I have almost 20 characters so far, it can be a nightmare of grind.

In any online shooter, I can't play as Blue. I can't help it, I just can never manage it - I'll always see a Red guy and hesistate, allowing them to just blow me away.

In my FPS's... I have to put on silencers if it is possible.. I don't know why I jsut have to

In my racing games I have to blow off some boost at the start (Nitro purge)

RTS's.. I like making pretty shapes with my base sometimes

In RTS's I must place walls around my base at all costs, and as soon as possible, even if it depletes all my resources and screws me in the long run. Hey, at least I'll be safe.

In FPS's, I take far too long aiming for a headshot in sniping missions.
"No, no, stand still dammit. Hey, don't talk to that guard. Just stay put you dirty bast- oh, you walk behind the truck now?!" After this I go into a rage and fire blindly at my enemy. Oh, Far Cry 2 will be fun.

In FPS' I don't go for armor, thinking hey, this way my guy will be all nice and comfy, then watching my health bar drop faster than Benny Hill running from the constabulary.

The need to constantly backtrack just in case I possibly missed something. Caused by missing out on valuable weapons/ammo/powerups in past games.

Slow-a-mania: Whenever in a free-roaming shooter (eg Crysis) with the option of stealth, I will follow this path agonizingly slowly. Basically, move two feet, drop into prone, wait for enemies to come by. After five minutes of unsuccessful waiting, repeat.

Troophorde: In RTSs, the compulsion to make incredibly massive armies. Usually done by doing absolutely nothing for nine-tenths of the game until I have a massive horde, whereupon I systematically crush the enemy.

RTS's: I've got this thing for rounded numbers, so I only make things in groups of 5 or 10 if I can.
I place things in the way I would for a small town (SimCity disorder)
I tend to put greater emphasis on defensive towers than defensive troops.

Co-op Shooters: I tend to stay back a few meters in case my co-op partner dies. Meaning he does the bulk of the work, while I ask "is it safe yet?".

Grand Theft Auto: Check the map every three seconds syndrome.
Switch cars if you see one in a nicer colour disease.
Kill people who get in my way/people who cause me to crash/ambulance drivers... flu.

I suffer terribly from "Too Awesome To Use" syndrome, whereby any powerful but limited use items are guaranteed to be sitting in my inventory from the moment I get them to the end of the game, whereupon I might remember to use them on the final boss, but probably not.

I suffer from the common disease of Ammo Conservation Syndrome and the I-Might-Need-This-Later virus.

I also contracted from the not-as-common Moral Psychosis, in which I always put myself in the shoes of the recipients of my actions. "Would I want to get extorted by this random Jedi?" Would I want to be killed for looking at this guy the wrong way?" "Would I want to be murdered for my belongings?"

FFX... change char, block, change char, block, change char, block... Everyone has to have at least 1 turn so they all get exp even tho I have no use for most of them. Makes every battle take like 5 times as long.

FPS I tend to be very anal about my gun selection. Take Rainbow Six Vegas. If a gun does not have a silencer then its worthless to me. If it not have the right scope, right recoil, right accuracy. Basically I test every single gun then when I find the one or two I like I never drop them. I can have 3 rounds left and I will not ditch that gun since thats 3 perfect headshots.

RTS if I am playing as say a undead race then I will not stop till every critter is destroyed.
A warlike race such as orks/tyranid. I must harvest every tree and destroy all natural resources before I finish off the enemy.
Elves I do my very best not to kill any critter (even hostile ones) if I can avoid it.

its world of warcraft and i have to have all of my gear be the best, crippling my pvp because i hardly have time to do anything.

I even have a swift razzashi raptor...with a long instance and a 0.5% drop rate, once a week.

in rpgs I tend to favor two characters out of the party so they'll be really high level and the others will be 10 levels lower than them so if my high leveled characters die I'm basically screwed.

in FPS's I use up my more powerful weapons up first so I end up fighting stronger enemies with the pistol and I normally end up dead.

I've got ACS and IMNTL as well, which often leads me to shamelessly using melee weapons all the time to conserve ammunition (when it would be so much easier to just use a gun!)......

.......And I think I developed that Moral Psychosis sometime during my first play-through of KotOR........

Up until I got shunted down to the FPS ghetto of consoles I used to be a complete quicksave whore. I had to do every scenario correctly so I would lose the least amount of health and ammo. Now I can't worry about it!

Online FPSs I have an innate hatred of snipers to the point where I'll hunt them down regardless of the slowing down of my kill count. Really bad in CoD4.

RTS - I only play skirmishes and make sure the enemy team has NO resources so I can make me a small army and crush them before they exceed 4 villagers.... Ahhhh Age of Empires... good times =P

FPS - I only use melee weapons, I've got to the end of Bioshock (360) using only the wrench and the grenade launchers, but only on the Big Daddies... Because they scare me >__>. Half-Life 2 I use the hand gun or the Grav-Gun because the crowbar takes too long to kill the combine =P

GTA - If I see a nicer looking car(either fast OR slower) I steal it, I never steal a parked car, if someone is on a mobile phone as I walk past them then they get to meet Mr.Happy the Baseball Bat. Never kill policemen unless on a mission, I HATE having more than 2 stars =(

RTS - I never attack until i am absolutely guarenteed of victory. I just sit there for hours fending off their more and more feeble attacks as they run out of resources. And then and only then do i send out the massive horde of the most highly perfectly upgraded soldiers i can possibly send.

I do this too, where possible. In a game like FF Tactics Advance, I only actually use a few of my characters and neglect the others. Same in Fire Emblem, where I'll try and keep them relatively even, and boost low-level latecomers and the like. In Pokemon it's gotten to a ridiculous degree where I'll sometimes use a Pidgeotto against a Magnemite because my Charmeleon's a level higher <_<

I am also incapable of playing any game on an emulator without abusing savestates. It's an annoying habit that leaves me unsatisfied.

Oh, and I might need it later.

In FPS', I try to play how you would do a similar situation in real life. So no spraying nade fest bunnyhopping crouched jumping while sidelooking. This of course always puts me in a disadvantage.

In RTS' I basically only defend, which means I always lose. I just like defending a lot :(

I play most games suicidally, unfortunately this only works on MMORPGs, RPGs and single player FPS games. Then again I made all of my characters on WoW stam whores so i could just rush in and outlive everything else.

Also I take way too long to build up an attack force in all of the Age of EMpires games, but when I do god help anyone in my way. (i.e. 100 dopplesoldners with all upgrades including cards in age 3, maximum possible elite units in age 2, all fully upgraded catapults in age 1) I can in most cases kill or cripple everything on the map once i build it all up before i have to restock my troops, though i dont attack till way late in the last age and spend the rest of the game building walls with 1 villager while the rest all build towers.

Mine are fairly simple affairs.
1)I press the reload button far too quickly. On the one hand I'm never short of bullets when I need them, but on the other I'm often caught out with my gun doing its oh-so-handy reload animation.
2)I'll often bumrush out of impatience when I really shouldn't. It's a habit I know I should shake even while I'm doing it but I just can't pass up the chance that maybe I'll catch him off-guard. This must be how a gambler feels.

In RTS's I defend a whole bunch, and only attack once I have bought every upgrade, regardless of its benefits. Which usually results in being slaughters in the first few minutes...
Fun times had by all....

Two words: Ammo. Hoarding.

I've played through entire games on the weakest weapons and left my fully loaded powerful weapons to rot over the odd fear that I'll inevitably need them but not have the ammunition to use them.

It's not really crippling, but whenever I play a role-playing game, especially a new one, I try to do everything possible, like get the absolute best items, do every single side-quest to its best completion result, grind until I'm as high a level as possible, etc. I tend to enjoy a lot of those games very much, so I feel like I need to extend the game as long as possible and finish it to absolute completion. Subsequent play-throughs aren't quite as obsessive, but I still try to do everything.

What use like no grenades or big rocket launchers, and then shoot your ntire arsenal only to realise you have like nothing left?

I suffer from hating silencers, And wildfiring over metal sheets in fear of EXPLODING in a cloud of red.

I always have this problem of not retreating in FPS and RTS games, even though a lot of the time I know I'm outmatched. It just feels easier to die and respawn than it does to retreat and look for a healing item. I have so much fun on TF2 Arena... >_<

Likewise, three rounds down out of a clip of thirty, i've killed my target, and the next one finds me in the middle of swapping clips. x.x; I eventually unbound my reload key and left it on auto-reload just to train myself out of it. :D

I have a few problems when playing FPS' and RTS'
FPS'
I will usually try to melee my enemies rather than have a firefight with them. This isn't limited to single player and i will often do this when playing against others with varying success. In games such as Team Fortress 2 using melee can be effective since you take about 10-20 bullets to be killed but in games such as Counterr Strike where a single shot could be deadly it is virtually suicidal.
This leads onto my next problem, the suicide charge. I hate it when matches devolve into both sides all hiding behind walls waiting for people to walk by so I usually will charge about trying to get into close range of enemies. As you can imagine this means I get shot as I run around walls.

RTS'
Why would I want to build a basic unit when in 5 minutes I can afford to get an upgraded version? This is my major weakness in RTS', I will only settle for the best units so I don't build up an army untill I'm fully upgraded. This usually means I get wiped out within the first 10 minutes but I just can't help it.

in RTS's i cant build anything other then compact bases.

my rationale for this is its hard to defend a spread out base, but this tends to shoot itself in the foot late game when everyone has superweapons and ive only build one of each building.

In FPS's, I sometimes have to empty the rest of a gun's ammo clip into a wall just because it's not completely full.
This really is crippling in COD4 with LMG's.

I have very bad habit of not finishing the game's story line. Lots of games ling in my game room with 75% completition, but the worst ones are these with 99% story done or last mission/ quest left.

Might be few reasones:
1. I just got bored before finished, regardles werever game is good or not.
2. Got bored because got a new more interesting title (blind circle starts here)
3. Stuck in some anoying moment and can't beat it (sometimes being to lazy to re-play mission to correct eventual mistakes)
4. Game is just bad.

From time to time I come back to the old games and eventually finish them.

For the contrast I suffer from: Just-One-More-Mission-To-See-What-Happen-Next dissorder. Keeping me playing for hours.

And for FPS or any other shooting games, I feel strong need to play so will have top score at least onece.

I definitely suffer from "I might need it later" syndrome...funny, the few times I convince myself to break the habit, I actually end up needing the item later.

It doesn't normally ruin me in games, but it has before. I have an obsession with reloading, the second I stop shooting my gun I have to reload, if I can't I will switch guns. I hate see a clip without the maximum amount of ammo in it. The problem is, sometimes enemies come in waves, so when I think everyone is dead and I reload the rush me and shoot my dopey ass for reloading that one bullet.
