Backyard Baseball. I know it's a crappy start, but it's where I learned to love video games.

For me, it was Kirby Super Star and the Super Nintendo. I still have the game and console, and I still play it. I love the music.

Quake on my cousin's computer. The nailgun was the best thing that happened to me after I got a bunk bed at age 3.

That would be a rail gun. :P

Err, no. I'm damn sure it shot nails, not bursts of energy. And a railgun is not better than my Sesame Street bunk bed, good sir.

...unless it shot out unused copies of E.T. for the ATARI 2600 to try and wipe them from the face of the planet.

Well, that's obvious. I'm waiting for the day when technology is advanced enough to make cannons launch anything. For now we can use that wretched game as a substitute for clay target shooting.

Super Marios Bros. on the NES is the first one I remember, but my older brother told me not too long ago that we used to play a DOS-based Space Invaders on our family's first computer 2 years before we ever got an NES.

My first game, like, ever?
Pacman.

My first game on the PC?
Wolfenstein.

But the PC game that really changed my life, the one that made me buy my first PC just so I could play it (I need it for school, dad. It will help me do my homework, honest!) ...

I'm not sure what my first game was,but it was probably a number of them.
I had a Game Gear and a Playstation.
The games I remember playing, hating, and loving,
PS1:Toy Story 2(I could never get past Slime Time, he would back me into a corner and rape my health) and Spyro 1 and 2.
GG:Home Alone and Sonic Chaos.(I always thought that the second level was an ice level.)

Fluffylandmine, why is your avatar animal farm?

First one that made me a gamer was Call of Duty 3 on the Wii. Got me addicted to FPS. Made me buy Call of Duty 1 and 2. Thus making me a gamer when I got my first gaming PC last year.

All avatars are equal, but some avatars are more equal than others.

And come to think of it the first game I actually played was myst...I just think Pokemon was more interesting...boy was I odd...

I'm 18, and have been gaming since I can remember. I'm pretty sure my first was Alex Kidd in Miracle World, which was built into my Sega Master System II.

"Blades of Steel!" *sching!*

The first game that was actually mine was the Mario Bros./Duck Hunt combo that I got for Christmas when I was a wee lad. I also played on my sibling's Intelivision before that, but I don't remember anything about it. And I too played on the Apple II C.

To the OP: I vaguely remember that castle trivia game you mentioned, if you find the name, please mention it, I want to relive some memories.

Almost the exact same way for me, except my uncle would bribe me with Mario... on the NES and SNES to make sure that I did my hw in elementary school

I was born in 1977. My first game was probably something text-based on a Sinclair ZX81. My first game-for-life would be Chuckie Egg on the Amstrad CPC. The first game that moved me to buy a PC was Command and Conquer, and the first game that moved me to buy a console was GTA3 on the PS2 (which then got binned for Halo on the Xbox)
