Condemned 2. while a good idea IN THEORY, the execution and presentation was so poor I just can't play it.

The mission 'heat' from Call of Duty 4 on veteran is pure torture.

Found it extremly hard the first time i played threw the game but second go on veteran was a lot
easier when i used Smoke grenades and airstrikes.

Far Cry 2 put me off with huge travels and repetitive missions.

Lack of variety in action parts - recent offender: Bioshock

Example. The metrocops in HL2 keep you on your toes throughout the first part of the game. They'll kick flaming barrels at you, throw man hacks at you, absail off bridges to fight you. That's just one enemy type. In Bioshock the flame splicers teleport, fireball, teleport, fireball, etc. The machine gun splicers move side to side and shoot at you. The splicers on the ceiling do that.

The settings were great for atmosphere but clearly not designed with gameplay in mind. And seeing how it was supposed to be a bloody FPS game, there's no excuse.

Oh god, I remember the worst one. First venture into Metroid Prime, the recent one on the Wii (corruption I think?). Enjoying a fair degree, then next missions were essentially: now back track and collected a dozen batteries from all the levels you just visited.

No. Game ejected, never touched since.

Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories. My game kept fucking freezing every time i reached it i eventually said, Fuck it, and stopped playing it.

Also, admittedly, Phantom Hourglass. I loved that game so much, and then the ocean king temple. oh dude, I hated it when the game sent me back there. I eventually gave it a fair shake and ignored it, and I beat the game thankfully. Now it sits on my game library like my other DS titles gathering dust. Maybe I'll get back to it when I'm done beating The World Ends With You for the 5th time.

Timeshift. The concept sounded really interesting (controlling time a la Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time), but the game itself was horribly flawed in its execution.

Counter-strike. Run around for 30 seconds, get shot, and spend another 3 minutes watching your teammates.

Oh, and there is Company of Heroes. WORST player AI ever. "oh hey, we are being shot at. lets go crawl TOWARDS the thing firing at us. NEVERMIND ITS A FUCKING TANK, ITS OK!!!" I swear, when I play that game, not only am I fighting the other players, but I'm fighting my own men as well.

Mass Effect. There was one point where I'd try to talk to the guy that gets migraines, and my character would just stand there in dialogue mode with no option to say anything, so the camera would just flick back and forth aroudn different bits. Also, no proper saving option, touching the lava means instant death, even in the buggy, and the controls have the wrong key mapped to get out of the damn thing. Oh, and the controls are clunky, the AI is stupid, the dialogue seems a little forced and the game is just trying too hard to be KOTOR without lightsabres. On the plus side, it looks nice, I guess.

Too Human... I was so motivated to beat it through with every class when I got it, but the constant death got to me and I barely completed the game once before gladly handing it back and cursing at a gamestop employee who recommended it to me.

I have quite a few, but I'll keep it to a minimum...

RE 4: Stopped playing soon after point at which you began babysitting the girl. I don't like escort missions of any form...

Main protagonist characters that whine constantly about fighting. The first, and last, game that I ever tolerated this in was Xenogears. Infinite Undiscovery was the most recent offender.

World of Warcraft: After trudging through 60 levels, I finally step foot into Outland, only to find that I'm still being asked to harvest animal parts. No, sorry, those npcs can collect their own demon boar's testicles. I'll not do it anymore.

Motor Storm on the 'Brutalized' level. The difficulty ramps up so high so fast on that fast that it is just not enjoyable anymore. In fact it is so hard that it made me bitter against the devs. And that makes me sad.

Hard game from the beginning, but level 16? Absolutely impossible.

GTA IV (Xbox 360) and Ninja Gaiden (original Xbox).
GTA IV: One mission after In Mourning, where you get called by the Little Jacob and you chase down Demitri's henchmen. In that entire mission, I keep failing at one moment. It's different every time though, but I keep fucking up somewhere down the line and it's gotten so frustrating that the game can go fuck itself.

Ninja Gaiden: One word.. ''Alma''. Seriously, the savepoint before the fight with her is frustratingly far enough, but why does the fight have to be so damn hard too? For me, it was impossible. I got soooo close one time, but I stepped one inch to the left and I got hit by a pillar which eventually killed me. One more hit would have done the job, but I failed..

Wow, all these years I've been thinking that was just me.

I could just list every puzzle game I've ever played as a response to this topic, but that'd feel slightly lazy...

N+ is just an exercise in anger management for me so I just don't bother any more. I don't know why I even got the full version after the demo nearly sent my blood pressure through the roof. I'm not blaming the game for being too hard, in fact I'm quite prepared to accept that I just suck at that sort of game, particularly when I've got friends that have no trouble with it.

I could add any of the GTA games to the list - the 3D open world ones, the old top-down ones weren't so bad. They're alright for a while, then along comes a mission that I have no hope of ever completing. I'll pootle around for a while, sandboxing my way around whatever portion of the city I've unlocked, before getting bored and giving up.

Dead Rising, as soon as I found out I was on a timer. I don't like being told I have to hurry and and beat the game, I like to explore the enviroments. It's not immersive, just annoying.

The 'Age of Chivalry' mod for the Halflife 2 engine. It was so pathetically, brokenly imbalenced that I almost quit playing it. They announced a "balencing patch" so I stayed to check it out; the 'knight' class still kills you in 2 hits even if you stab him 4 times in the back with the 'footman' class or fire 4 arrows into his chest with the 'archer' class. Its a shame since it had great potential.

I spent the entirety of two months trying to beat Alma in the first Ninja Gaiden. Several Hundred tries later, after beating her, I can do it first time, every time. just dont stop moving.

huh... i am compelled to finish any game i start, but a game that came close was Jak 2. there was a timed section that i couldn't beat, so said "f this" and played something else. However, i put it in about 6 months later and beat the mission on the first try.

I don't tend to give up on games and never play them again, I just tend to go off it for a day or so before giving it another go. I have, however, found that I'm doing that with increasing regularity with Turok Evolution.

Actually, now that I think about it, I gave up on back when I had the Gamecube version. Oh! And Metal Arms: Glitch in the System.

I'm pretty sure the Final Fantasy Legend games for Game Boy are part of the SaGa series.

ninja gaiden. I didn't like the fighting system too much, and I find it a pretty badly made game overall. Also, it almost made me go insane with the difficulty and how far apart the checkpoints are. And then I got to the lava level... You know whats weird, though? with all the horror stories about alma, I almost stopped playing before I got to her. I beat her on the third try with no health potions, and this was on my first playthrough.

Dead Rising. I finally beat the second (I think) battle against that Spanish man you meet on the roof of the mall when you first arrive, and I had to use a strategy that required a long amount of time to win the fight, and then I found out that I went past the time limit. The game tried to comfort me with "Well, you can keep playing, you just won't be able to do any more of the missions for the rest of the game" and "Or you could do the rest of the missions if you just start the game over, which means you have to go through that ridiculously unfair boss battle again, but you'll have to finish it about ten times faster". No Dead Rising, I will not continue playing you and dealing with your stupid pointless constant time limit dick move. You're going back to Blockbuster. Now.
