The problem is that Valve wants to release this stuff for free and on a regular basis like how they do it on Steam but it would cost them too much money since MS is being greedy and MS wants to put a price on all DLC on XBL. Very annoying if you got the console versions.

Mmm... yeah, I heard about that little conflict of interest between MS and Valve... Worst part is (and I don't joke about this) I'm such a nerd that I've been sending Valve a very open ended email for several days straight now (the same every day) regarding any news on this release, and praising them for not succumbing to MS's capitalist bull at the same time. I played the original event with quite the flawless sniper (apart from the whole setting on fire 60489274 times and also not killing as many people as others). I also played in sub-event the following week. But I am not on the list?

To be Devil's Advocate for a moment, MS and Sony will need to run it thru all their tests etc, check it against all their things, make sure it's not going to go against any of their guidelines etc. It'll cost them money, so they'll want to push the cost onto gamers.

It's kinda like if I bought a thousand PS3 for children's hospitals, then called UPS and said, 'I'm giving these away for nothing, can you deliver them for free, oh yes, and hire someone to install and test them, too? thanks.'

However that's a pretty small point, against the huge amount of good publicity they'd get by allowing Valve to give away their updates free, maybe if Valve made sure Sony and MS were included in any publicity about it, saying 'yes, they worked with us to make sure we could get this out to gamers for free, so thanks to them.'

Lets hope at the very least it comes out and it's fairly cheap.

Top tip tho, a $400 PC can run the whole orange box beautifully, don't buy pc shooters on the consoles unless you really have to, there's gonna be updates, mods, and soo much free stuff coming, you're buying half a game sometimes if you don't get the PC one.

Note: this isn't meant as a 'PCs are better than consoles' thing, just that in this one situation they are.
