Gone Gonzo Posts: 1178 Joined: 11 Nov 2008 | I never got a chance to get very far in it, but Condemned was the scariest game I have played to date (Never got to play any SH games, a problem which I plan to rectify very soon)...it was the only first person game in which I genuinely did not want to find any enemies for fear of them doing horrible, horrible things to me with a 2x4, complete with embedded bolts. |

You haven't been terrified until you've played this game. |

Beat Writer Posts: 193 Joined: 23 Jan 2008 | Condemned hands down. The Appleseed Farmhouse level was pure genius. It's a shame I can't finish it seeing that my 360 refuses to render half the final level. It fills me with rage. Enough rage to make me understand why the bums went kill crazy. |

Our version did that too - do you just get to a road past a gate where everything is black? Worked fine after a reboot, but if that fails try and backtrack to get to the little cabin high up to the right of the road, you have to do something in there before you can continue and I think that's where the glitch is. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1652 Joined: 2 Nov 2008 | Well, it wasn't so much about the game as where I was playing (the attic of an almost mansion-like house with paint peeling off the walls and pipework showing not to mention the fact that it wasn't my house so it was unfamiliar and the windows were huge and it was the middle of winter and the trees were all bare and the lights were off and it was cold *gasps for air*). BUUUUT it was Resident Evil for the gamecube. I would like to note that I don't often play horror games for some reason so I don't have a large library to choose from > >; |

It's happening right at the cabin higher above the right side of the road. I've tried backtracking, reloading, restarting the level, and I've even tried deleting my HDD's cache. nothing seems to be working. |
Paperboy Posts: 46 Joined: 14 Mar 2008 | No new ones to add, Condemned was really intense and Resident Evil made me jump a few times. I'm embarrassed to admit this but I was too scared to finish Silent Hill, That game freaked me out. So thats my scariest, because I wimped out of playing it. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1172 Joined: 29 Jun 2008 | timesplitters 2. when the first zombie came towards me in that cave, i didn't want to procede.Too dark, dammit! But otherwise, there's a video of this on GT |

Copy Clerk Posts: 99 Joined: 18 Sep 2008 | I only played condemned criminal origins a week ago and it definately had some scary moments. The story was a complete mess however. I have yet to play a game that is truly scary. Most of the time games rely too heavely on spookhouse-like tactics instead of delivering an unsettling story. |

Yup, having never played any of the SH series, this is it for me. Got me many a time. Great suspense and use of the environment. |

This ^, back when Ocarina of Time had just been released, i stayed up all night playing it, but once i got to the part when you became adult link and walked out into the zombie filled courtyard, i turned the game of and didnt continue until it wasn't dark outside. |

Paperboy Posts: 23 Joined: 29 Jul 2008 | I agree, Condemned was terrifying. I also found Aliens vs Predator 2 to be pant-wetting as well. The marine sections in AVP2 were genuinely disturbing, flickering lights and random falling pipes had me wasting precious ammo on walls and ceilings, not to mention seeing predators everywhere only to have them disappear along with the bloodied remains of one of my comrades. Then you have the sections with aliens coming out of everything but the kitchen sink and you runnign backwards frantically hoping that the rounds in the pulse rifle are going to last so you dont have to switch to the pistol. |
