I've got agree. I rushed through the 1 player, collected loads of stuff. Ventured into 'Cool Levels'. Didn't find many. I've played 50. Maybe 5 were standout good. Some were okay. Quality is very very low. Pretty sure I'm going to get rid of it unless Sony stop deleting all the quality. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2741 Joined: 23 Apr 2008 | That game only held about 3 minutes worth of interest to me. My friend thought that would be the game to make me want to buy a PS3. |

Because Sony has lost it's way to market gamers. Just movie lovers |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1286 Joined: 7 Nov 2007 | I didn't bother to pick up LBP. I had a half a dozen friends telling me it was beyond awesome and that I must have it, but I pretty much figured the novelty would wear off very, very quickly because - and I freely admit this - I don't have the creativity to create interesting levels. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 861 Joined: 2 Apr 2008 | Maybe it comes down to how creative you are - I've seen some truly brilliant levels, and that only pushes me to produce something bigger and better myself. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1170 Joined: 1 May 2008 | what is any fps game? walk through hallways, shoot enemies, press buttons to open doors. rinse, repeat. what is a rpg? walk around the magic land, kill monsters, gain xp, talk to people, do quests; rinse, repeat. all games boil down to the same: you have some challenge in front of you and the game asks you to complete that. that you say you don't like lbp is fine, but to say that the gameplay is flawed is to say that every video game's gameplay is flawed because it follows the same lines. was the original crash bandicoot a bad game? it had similar gameplay. |

That is true. But as a platformer fan, it didn't work. My friend had the nerve to compared that game to Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario 64. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 861 Joined: 2 Apr 2008 | I don't think that's fair. LBP handles very differently to the likes of Mario Bros games. Mario 64 is certainly a bad choice (it's 3D, LBP is 2.5D). I think what should be emphasised is this - if you are the sort of gamer who plays a game, enjoys it and expects nothing more to do with it, then you probably won't enjoy LBP - as a platformer, it doesn't excel like Super Mario World did. If you're the sort of gamer who plays a game, and spends the rest of the weekend doodling characters, writing fan-fiction and posting on forums saying "wouldn't it be cool if you could do X in this game?" then you will love LBP. It's very much about making your own levels, machines, etc. I'm currently making ram-tanks that cause giant zombies to explode. Fun fun fun. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2741 Joined: 23 Apr 2008 |
Mediocre is far from it.
I did have fun making levels that were difficult yet passable. However, after some of my friends PSN friends beat them with ease, I was like "fuck this" lol. But I am a creative person, just it didn't work. |

No, it's a good platformer with a really brilliant level editor. |

Oh come on, if you were going to make a Penis level with suggestive themes everywhere, of course it would be banned/ban you! Use some common sense. (though admittedly, I was also going to make a penis level, but only to send to my friend >_>; )
Why do people openly admit that they "rushed through the Single Player" part of LBP? I'm just curious, it's as if people are alright with completely rushing through a simple platformer yet they are allowed to take their time with anything else. If you rush through the single player, you're missing out on alot of content just like if you rush any other game to the finish line. Like Wargamer said I guess, it depends on how creative you can be. Personally, I havn't touched the level creator for a while because I was completely stumped on what to do while my friend has made a couple of really cool levels with it. THen, only recently, I got a stroke of genius and finaly decided a level to create. If you rush through the single player, you're missing out of the sharing aspect and the create which is pretty much the 2/3s of the game. That's fine, though, to each his own, but don't complain that an RPG is short because you skipped all the sidequests and optional games. Similar to this. |

He makes a sharp point there. Fallout 3 was embarassingly short if you didn't bother with all the little niggling sidequests. |

I think there is a misunderstanding I'm close to 100% collectables and working through the multiplayer with friends. I was off work ill and had much sofa time to finish the game. Maybe rush was the wrong word. I'm not going to drag it out to say it was longer. It is a short one player game. I have been playing user created and have attempted making my own levels, this is slow to be good - probably the cause of so many mediocre levels in 'cool levels'. My point remains - not much there. Sony pulling levels sucks - maybe they're the quality ones. |

LBP = LittleBigPlanet I've lost count of the hours I've been playing this, and I've not finished the story mode, nor have I been creating levels yet. Granted I play it mostly with my 4 year old daughter, and her amusement is infectious, which means a lot of replaying levels. That said, I am generally highly amused by it when I play on my own too. I find the levels well designed if you are trying to do everything in one go - they can be very short if you run through for a "no lives lost" completion. The number of replays has led to 100% items on the first 3 creator areas. Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of flaws in it that annoyed me, but overall, it is a superb game so far - I am looking forward to playing user created levels and creating my own as well. |

By the way, does the game have secrets or anything of that nature? Hidden levels? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1331 Joined: 22 Oct 2008 | I've played it. Yeah, it's entertaining, but I certainly don't see it holding my attention for longer than a month, nevermind actually getting a PS3 for it. It certainly doesn't help that Sony bows to everyone who so much as twitches in their direction over copyright nonsense. |

You got 100% items in the second level? How!? I swear I've searched every nook and cranny I can conceivably reach on Level 2 of the first area and the best I can get is 98%. I've checked behind every object, activated every switch, but there's still no sign of the last item! |
Copy Clerk Posts: 54 Joined: 2 Oct 2008 | It also depends how perfectionist you are. I wouldn't even touch the level editor until I got the PLAY (Dont die on any levels) and COLLECTER (Get every prize bubble) trophies, and to do that, your limits and intuitiveness (Real word?) will be pushed. I got the game the day you could for preorders (A few days before the actual release date) And have only accomplished this about 1-2 weeks ago. Since then, not to sound snobby, but my creative juices are enough to find the level editor right up my alley of desires. As I said it really depends who you are. If you are a perfectionist basic run jump platformer fan who has a ton of ideas like me, this game caters perfectly to you, but if that isn't your forte of gamming, yeah it makes sense that it'd get old fast. Although even my friends who weren't as core about it as me think it's a great party game reguardless, so there's always that. |

From one guy and its gods gifts to PS3 from thousands you cant expect everyone to like a game. |
Beat Writer Posts: 176 Joined: 5 Jun 2008 | I was bored out of my skull with just the beta, and none of my friends play it anymore. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1602 Joined: 13 Oct 2008 | I wondered how long LBP would remain interesting. I played it at a friends house, I loved it, thought it was a blast, but I couldn't see myself playing that more than once or twice. I think it's a great looking game with smooth controls, yet limited replayability for the gamer that isn't easily impressed...does that make sense to anyone? |

I apologize for the misunderstanding (though my point still stands about the rushing through any game unless it calls for it (speed runs I guess)). Though 100% as in everything ever? Like, acing every level, getting all collectables, 100% like that? 'Cause, damn, I can barely pass that stupid Japleno level! And I really think people are overreacting to Sony pulling levels, while yes that does suck, I have yet to see many levels actually being pulled down. I still see many "copyrighted" levels like video game music and stuff and I havn't seen much of the really popular levels being deleted. Nonetheless though, it still sucks, I just think people are overreacting. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1462 Joined: 2 Jan 2008 | I don't know. I finished the entire single player game (that's aced, got all items, and completed and aced all challenges) in about a week. If you've played a platformer or two it's not all that hard to complete. I will say that I had a fucking blast the whole way through, and, truely, I could not wait to see what the next level would be like. I am, however, a bit saddened by how lacking the *ahem* "cool" levels are. Jump, you and I should play together. You could watch in awe as I spend 15 minutes typing in a statement because I don't have a mic. Or laugh as I try to mime my intentions using a combo of Sackboys costumes, facial expressions, and arm gentures. - J |

Are you kidding? It has hidden paths, obtainable keys for challenge rooms, Sticker and decoration activated switches, 2, 3 and 4 player co-op challenges, no-death rewards, 100 obtained rewards.... User was banned for: Poll: What is your opinion on the Metal Gear Solid storylines?. (Permanent) |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1503 Joined: 15 Jul 2008 | Theres nothing wrong with LBP. SO what if it's not super in depth and challenging and a bit repetitive. Thats not the point. It's not meant to be played for hours and grinded into to. It looks good, it's simplistic, and the idea of the game is to just have some fun. make some levels and mess around. It's alot more enjoyable with 3 or more players or online running into total strangers on any given level. Hate on it if you want. but i think it's an excellent little social game. |
BANNED Posts: 12958 Joined: 30 Jan 2008 | As for the cool levels, don't just search by the actual first levels it shows you, that allows too much for the people who full heart becaue they don't care - use the search and go for those tagged "ingenious" - I can almost garuntee you will like those. Jump on Button, Run along, Jump on vehicle or badly animated animal, fly up to ledge, jump down hole, collect some stuff. I sware every level is the same.
I'm not saying the game is bad it is good. The problem being that it is not the gameplay that entertains me, it is the comedy that is brought to the levels mostly through people recreating an old nintendo game or having a pop at Xbox and these are the levels being removed.
Why did sony release a game with so much potential when they must have known they were going to have to ban a hell of a lot of user created content. Why no warning on the box.
I was going to create a penis influinced level but now i'm not going to even bother. whats the point if no one can download it to be offended.
