Thor in SCII looks bloody awesome... And I remember ooooon... PS1 I believe, there was a game where you had this spider-robot that went around on walls blasting down other spiders with missiles, anyone recall the name of that game? It was out the same time as the first spyro I believe.

I just eagerly await the day that Metal Wolf Chaos finally comes out in the West.

It doesn't get more American than that, folks.

YEAAAAAAAAH. WELCOME TO THE WHITE HOUSE

LET'S PARTYYYYYYY!

Wait, isn't that the one where the president of the US pilots some insane mech in a pitched battle against the VP, along with terrible, and I mean terrible voice acting?

I think you mean AWESOME voice acting.

Yes, the world does in fact need more robots. Especially the West, we need more Mechwarrior and Japanese imports that are of higher quality then what we have been getting lately.

Meh. It's more of an exaggerated script anyway. I just doesn't appeal to me, but when I think about it, it could've been a lot worse.

I would love a good new mech game. Walk around in ten story tall death machine, shoot lazers and missiles and shit at whatever is dumb enough to get between you and what you want to blow up.

Also, I second Lost Planet. Aside from the grappling hook and rocket launcher fun, the mech sections were crazy fun. Fighting giant bugs in giant robots.

The MechWarrior series is good, but I'll never forgive myself for not buying Steel Batallion with the dedicated controllers, especially considering I'm a gaming peripheral nut. It must be quite an experience:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e7/Steel_Battalion_controllers.jpg
http://www.play-asia.com/image/content/tgs/large/steel_bat3.JPG

Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_Batallion ):

Gameplay

Steel Battalion controllers

At the beginning of every mission, the player must 'start up' the machine and operating system; this is handled through a series of switches and buttons dedicated to this purpose. If the player does not eject when prompted, the player's in game character will die, and all saved data will be lost, causing the player to start over. If a corner is turned too fast, the machine will tumble over. If the player's machine overheats, its operating system must be reset. The game even simulates window wipers in case of mud hitting the monitor.

A reviewer on IGN joked, "where MechAssault and Robotech wouldn't let us into the cockpit, Steel Battalion won't let us out".

Someone needs to make me a big shiny next gen Macross game. I'll pick up Ace Frontier on the PSP eventually, but I demand HD transforming plane satisfaction dammit!

Have we all already forgotten the Metal Gear Solid series? Particularly that sweet bit in IV where you fight the Ray with your Rex?

Seriously, Konami should make that a DLC mode in MGO. Multiple giant Mecha showdown.

Yeah giants robots are always cool :P

I didn't like DW Gundam that much because of all the customization, it would just be nice if the parts transferred over so I wouldn't have to keep getting them for each Gundam.

That's generally how most Dynasty Warriors games are played, except instead of Gundam you have heroes. Admittedly there was a bit of mixing it up with the inclusion of different pilots, but at least their skills carried over.

ZoE, Armoured Core and Mechwarrior are my favourite mecha game series (in that order, no less). I wait for the day when Bandai will finally cobble together a good Gundam game. Using either the AC or ZoE rough gameplay system with a bit of a tweak for the Gundams would be more than enough, but thus far I've yet to see anything that really captured the pace of Gundam combat minus the theatrics.

ZoE2 I played and loved, then my younger brother lost my disk while I was away on holiday and it's fucking impossible to find anywhere. It's on ebay for something like £40.00 a pop, which is a tad too rich for my unemployed blood. I picked up a used copy of ZoE1 from CeX for £2.50 a week ago though ;D

shadow skill:
Bring back Mech Warrior! I wonder if the Crytek sponsored mod for Crysis is going anywhere? Oh and ZOE 3 please.

Kojima has said he wants to do a ZoE3. I just wish he'd get round to it. :(

I'd lend it to you were that .. possible lol

They need to do a proper DW Gundam.

ALL the different shows. Even the OVAs like 0080.

There's a DW: Gundam 2 in the works (or so the rumours go. You know how rumours are.)

Not worth it at the moment. My PS2 has given up the ghost after 4 or 5 long years of good service (and I do mean good!) I'm waiting til I'm less strapped for cash to pick up a new one on the cheap. I only bought ZoE for £2.50 because it was £2.50, and there was no guarantee such a thing would be there next time I went into the shop.

Super Robot Wars Z: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7WaRZpOV_I Gunleon, The Heat Crusher. WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!

Seriously though the SRW games can be played two ways.
If you understand Japanese (I don't)you can enjoy the story for all it's worth.
If you don't it's user friendly enough that you can know HOW to play, and you can take enjoyment from watching Apollo Mugen Punch the enemy from 14 Squares away, Watching how Kei from Orguss dodges everything and works his way up the leader board, then have Renton from Eureka 7 use ONE Seven Well and permanently Embed his face on that scoreboard.

Remember The Big O? In SRWZ, Gundam Zeta, Seed Destiny (and they fixed the plot).

Banpresto combines the plots and makes them BETTER, No Camille angsting, none of Shinn being the villain for most of the series cause of Kira.

It's awesome, I don't understand a WORD and it is awesome.

Live a Live's "Akira" chapter has the giant Buriki Daioh, a pimped out giant robot with its own karaoke theme song. It's as awesome as it sounds.

And we seriously need MechWarrior 5. Doesn't Microsoft own the license now? You'd think they'd have pumped it dry...

It loses points for being followed by an incredibly senseless endgame sequence

You know, after playing through the game, I was fine with considering that Robot to be "the end"

he was that awesome, that I didn't care that the game sort of pissed itself away afterwards.

While you wait, you could play that 'The American Dream' mission from Fallout 3. Again and again.

We definitely need a new Mechwarrior game, and perhaps a decent Robotech game (Macross only please!!!)

Also Liberty Prime was the highlight of Fallout 3!

"DIE COMMIE SCUM!"

You know originally the player got to control Liberty Prime?
The Bethesda remebered how much fun everyone had in Oblivion watching other people do awesome things so they had you just follow it around instead.

Liberty Prime is the best giant robot I've seen in ages, he could single handedly beat communism.

I dunno about him beating communism solely, after all the Soviet Union has a fair amount of blimps and bombs. Though "Democracy is non-negotiable" wins it with Liberty Prime.

Yet another game that has its classic shortcoming in not giving me the mission select beyond carefully placed saves on the players part (who don't know if its gonna be awesome until too late).

The Super Robot Wars series is awesome. I'm not talking about the SRTaisen OG for GBA(although it is from the same series and a good game in it's own right) I'm talking about the ones from Japan. The only ones in English are the two GBA games I just mentioned and fan-translated SRW 3 for the SNES. Its a good game, but not as user friendly as the later games. The series follows the same idea as Super Smash Brothers and Kingdom Hearts but precedes them by at least 10 years and instead of Mario you get gundam.

Yes! I want my translated Super Robot Wars W on the Nintendo DS!

With some Tekkaman action on the side, please.

And the fully voiced versions of Super Robot Wars OG on the PS2 should also be ported translated. The GBA versions are awesome, but I want my Sanger Zonvolt voiced dammit!
