Thank the baby Jesus I'm not alone! What killed it for you? Did you even finish the game? I didn't. I got as far as the zombie place before getting fed uninterested in it. For me, the lack of skippable cutscenes which left me to run around with my dick in my hands, wait for everyone to shut the fuck up and let me do something. Then the physics puzzles would bring a sudden halt to any fun I had shooting things, as was Gordon Freeman controlling turrets and watercraft with his mind. |

Oh screw Pokemon, I swear that has to be the worst crap I've ever seen. I'm 22 as well, and was pretty much exposed to Pokemon at a time where even people who were 12-13 were going apeshit over it. I never liked it. It's essentially a TV show that tries to make you believe any kind of animal life form will simply allow itself to be enslaved and used for what is essentially seizure inducing cock fights. I played through the original game (I believe it was red). I basically rushed through the single player game as fast as possible because I really found it pretty bland. While I was playing the game I never recalled any singled moments where I was enjoying myself. In fact I clearly remember being really really annoyed at the random Pokemon battles. In the show the only Pokemon who is treated with any sort of equality and respect is Pikachu, the other Pokemon hang around in some tiny ball for their entire existence. |

I guess I was disappointed with the obvious ones, Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed, the latter because of its short story and incredibly anticlimactic final set piece and the former because of its...erm...short story and incredibly anticlimactic final set piece. Ho hum. I was let down by Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 slightly. Don't get me wrong, I loved the games and I'm a big MGS fan, but MGS2, after the initial "aargh!" moment that was Raiden, did feel a bit clunky and slow in places, like when you had to rescue Otacon's sister (I can't for the life of me remember what she was called) and in MGS3, I guess it was the greenery that I drowned in for the first few hours (lit. the whole damn entire game) although I guess I can say I got used to it by the end. |

I finished it, but only because my friends said i couldn't criticize the game unless I finished it. I dunno what killed it for me, I didn't really get into the story, which may have been part of it. Mostly though, it just felt like Halo to me. A competent but unremarkable alien shooter, I wouldn't call it a bad game, but I was expecting more from it, since the gaming community had unanimously declared it "the greatest game that ever has or will be released". Normally this kind of hype is balanced out by people saying the game is rubbish, for titles like Halo or SSBB, but nobody EVER criticizes HL2. I'd started to think that maybe there was something wrong with me, but now SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME! WOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EDIT:
Oh, and this guy too, we should start a rebellion! |

Mirror's Edge would have been a disappointment if I had had any expectations. Now it was just a game that TO ME was the epitome of failure. But I will concede that the time attack mode probably is a whole load of fun if you like that kind of thing. I don't, but that's just me. I'm also quite sure the game won't let you avoid combat entirely - can't picture getting through the server room without it. But good luck! Disappointments that no one has mentioned yet in this thread, though... Neverwinter Nights 1 sure was one to me. As was God of War 2 - more polish doesn't matter when you take away character and motivation while not adding more than a few new enemies. |

I don't know why this didn't go through but I will post it again! This is not an opinion, it's fact. I didn't bash your opinion, I just stated the biggest let down in my life! During every Brawl match I randomly trip alot, not one god damn thing you will say will make up for this, the gameplay was already perfect and then they add this. They also got rid of alot of strategic moves, wave dashing and mid air dodging might not seem important but it really is. I don't use them but it made the game more interesting, there was the normal way for people like me too play and then there is the advanced fighting moves for people who like to kick it up a noch! So when you say "if you don't like the changes then go back to Melee!" This makes you really bloody selfish, NO, it was a game for everyone to play! I didn't mean to flame you at first but don't ever tell me what words I shouldn't use you asshole! Basically you put words in my mouth, I can't see how narrow minded is imaginative either but you are one because you don't consider everything. Are you telling me the Emissary mode was not tedious to you? You are doing the same thing over and over again, fighting monsters that are lame and picking up stickers for every single level. The bosses were crap because all you were doing was avoiding their moves and attacking when it is safe, every other game does this so it really isn't anything special! After 1 hour of playing through this I was so bored I got tired, it was 2 pm at the time, there is obviously something wrong with a game when it starts making you fall asleep! The events were crap and unimaginative, most of them I could set up in a basic Brawl against my friends. In Melee all of them were interesting, they had things you never done before and some even had different levels and enemy's you couldn't play in normal Melee. My personal favourite was the Legendary Pokemon event, every poke'ball you throw had a awesome Pokemon with an awesome move besides that beaver looking one. Even the animations and moves for the individual Pokemon in Brawl weren't as good as Melee's. They even managed to fucked up the Classic mode making it even more repetitive than the last one. Probably the only genius thing in Brawl was the Smash Ball, it is fun to catch but they even screwed that up too. Yeah you know already, my friends and other people at tournaments banned them because some supers were far superior than others. Well that was a waste! You don't think about the other peoples views on the game and just say it's good but it's another Nintendo fuck up for the above reasons. So everytime you say this game is good when it clearly isn't makes Nintendo get away with it. Not one Wii game I can think of comes close to the great N64 games, it's a downgrade and everyone should unite against this! This is also the same with Movies and Music aswell, we promote garbage and they get away with it. I want your opinion to change because it is important after all, so you can still enjoy Brawl but realise it's faults! |
Beat Writer Posts: 168 Joined: 19 Nov 2008 | Oh, that's easy. Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. I for some reason was obsessed with that game, always getting more and more excited, despite countless delays, scouring all sorts of magazines for the latest info. I even kept a manilla folder full of different articles I had found about it, and even once while in Europe saw a magazine with a picture of the game on the front and had my dad translate what it was saying. It turned out to be awful. I didn't even get through the first level, when I had to run around Paris doing the randomest things to get the game to move forward, and most of them were hard to understand why I needed to do them. I was so sad. (Fortunately, it's just a memory, since the more recent Tomb Raider games have been pretty decent.) |

I mean, you really have to try HARD to mess that up. But I give them kudos for being able to do it. Fable 2, horrible combat, horrible story, not really a sequal (more like 1.5 than 2), and full of bugs. It is like they took the bad parts of Fable 1 and put more of them in. |

You Sir make me Happy Face. RF 1 was totally amazing, it was like Metal Gear Sold mixed with Total Recall, which is imbazorz! But seriously great game, great story, lacking in Multiplayer obv etc, but RF2 However was great Multiplayer, Lacking in Story and length of story. Also... Anyone who mentions at least 1 Half-Life Related game, shall forfeit their life! Im not a fanboy for consoles or anything, but i am for certain games, the Half-Life series is absolute quality, it deserves the praise it gets. Valve are a developers who know what they, and fans want. Not just churning out unfinished games, or cliched games. Half-Life has an original (mostly =]) story, and the Graphics for basically being 4 years old are still mind blowing. Quality series. |

It's an opinion. You disliked Brawl. I like Brawl. Tripping is annoying, they make up for it in other ways. I never said Brawl was flawless, so you stop putting words in my mouth. Your opinion is that Brawl sucks. No matter how much you may think it, that doesn't make it the one objective truth. You didn't like it, other people do. So get the fuck off your high horse, your opinion isn't the only one that matters. I'm done dealing with you, you're a massive hypocrite who's too far stuck up your own ass to consider anybody elses' opinions. |

Well, it wasn't that bad for the PC at least, but proportionate to it's advertising, yeah, I think Advent Rising wins. Personally, I have to say Viking: Battle for Asgard. Open-world Viking brawler with large-scale fights. It takes some serious skill to mess that up, and somehow they did. Sigh. |

Well thats just great, I thought you were clever but instead you just ran off. I pointed whats wrong with it and they really didn't make up for it, all you did was just repeat that opinion crap without relating to anything! Do the world a favour and go fuck yourself! |

Assassin's creed.
Don't promise Gold when you can only produce copper.
Still, climbing around was fun.
