Gone Gonzo Posts: 2693 Joined: 6 Jun 2008 | I'd just like to see a trailer in general. |

Can't argue with that. As is the case with my Warcraft RPG thread, this is purely speculation and day-dreaming here. That's why it's called the Escapists, hehe. |

I think he means the Mass Effect trailer in general. |

I saw this thread and got all excited about a trailer that the OP had seen and was asking about the music in it. Damn him. |

Yeah, but I'm Nihlus, the cool Turian. You're just boring, old Garrus. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2234 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 |
Haha, I resent that. Garrus is like the Turians answer to "Dirty Harry." |

And Nihlus is like the Turian's answer to every cool spec-ops guy ever. |

I apologize for misleading you. Trust me, nothing would make me happier than to find the Mass Effect 2 trailer be able to share it with all you great guys. But I'm hoping that this thread hold some of us over until then. On a separate note, ME's first-year anniversary is coming up this 20th. I'm hoping against hope that Bioware will announce something or other, maybe a small teaser that Blizzard does so well. |

Well, let's just agree that they both kick ass. |

Or, in Nihlus' case, that he did kick ass, past tense. Rest in peace, Nihlus. |

Rest in peace, Nihlus (I was going to make a jab at Nihlus getting killed, but I figured that was too low). You know something? They should've had a part in the game where you attended Nihlus' memorial service. I mean, he was a high-profile government agent who got killed in the line of duty, and by a very menacing threat to the galaxy. It would've been a nice emotional pay-off for the character that we got to interact with so little. Instead, they just kind of forgot him afterwards. There's literally no more mention of him by the time Shepard gets promoted. But whatever, you have any suggestions? |

Wait, Nihlus DIED!?? AHHHH!!! No, but really, Nihlus was bad ass. Not quite as badass as the ultimate Turian, Saren! |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2891 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 |
Wow, I never even thought of that. That would have been really cool. Could've been a cool little roleplaying thing as you gaze at his body on display, lamenting the loss of your comrade or muttering a bitter oath of revenge (and an appropriate paragon or renegade point gain with it). |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2234 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 |
And then someone to give a eulogy for him. Oh man, if it had been Saren giving that eulogy (over the hologram or such), I would've fumed. That'd be interesting. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2648 Joined: 20 Jul 2008 | I immediately searched for a Mass Effect 2 trailer on you tube after seeing this threads name. What I got was the girl on girl sex scene from Mass Effect. Curse you for getting my hopes up. What about the music in Mass Effect when you encounter the Geth or see Saren for the first time? That would be great for a trailer though not as epic. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2234 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 |
You mean "Saren," by Jack Wall? That might work in a certain context, but I'm not sure. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2234 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 | And man, I feel guilty for people thinking that there's a real trailer up. I'm sure that when Bioware unveils the first trailer, it will transcend anything I can hope to imagine up. |

Especially if he was like "Nihlus was killed due to the carelessness of one Commander Shepard." Seriously, they should have had you at least meet his family. Picture this; its between Eden Prime and the "Trial" for Saren. You know its classified. Nihlus' mother (or another such loved one) asks how he died. You can give the good answer "he was killed by the Geth," the bad answer "he was killed by Saren," or the neutral answer "I'm not at liberty to discuss that." |

Yeah, that'd be crazy! Do I smell a mod or DLC perhaps? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2234 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 |
That'd be my ultimate wet dream right there. I'm sure how they'd fit story-related mission/quest right between those two points, but that would be awesome! Too much so for words. |

They'd probably do it the same way they did Bring Down the Sky. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2234 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 |
Ah, you mean like, away from the main story? Because that way it'd be optional, i guess. Would be nice to have DLC that consisted mainly of very well written conversations. |

I was referring to how it just got slipped in once you downloaded it. You didn't have to go to the main menu and select "Bring Down the Sky" the way you do in some other games. By the way, IMO, the only truly difficult moral choice in ME was in BDTS. Do you It was the only one where I couldn't think "well, what would the good choice be?" That's what we need in the sequel, more shades of gray. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2234 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 | I did enjoy that mission. And where most decisions took me under 30 seconds to make. Balak's ultimatum left me pondering for quite a while. Actually, I have made three Mass effect videos; I can't believe I forgot about them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDF4G5n08oU (And, yes, I know about the text in the middle, I might redo the whole video at some point) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFlZOTnCWLk&feature=channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwVourCJOFE&feature=related Tell me what you think. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2234 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 | And here's actually some music I created myself, if you're at all interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF6AZTCQZcc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5JqZtCtzFw&feature=channel Let me know what you think. Huh, this thread has really strayed from its original intention. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2044 Joined: 10 Nov 2008 | Black screen. Sovereign's words play: "We are eternal. The pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything." Images of rioting on the citadel streets. Voiceover of newsreader: "Following the attack on the citadel, riots have escalated as relations between species hits a new low." Image of Hackett talking to Anderson. Hackett: "If we can't convince them of their safety, it'll be the first contact war all over again." Anderson: "We need a symbol of hope. We need Shepard." Image of Joker in the Normandy's cockpit. Hackett on the comm: "We're recalling you from the search. We need you here, immediately." Image of the quarian migrant fleet under attack by geth. A quarian watching from the Normandy's bridge (possibly Tali): "They don't have the resources for this. They won't survive." Images of the Normandy fighting off geth amongst the migrant fleet. Fade to logo, Mass Effect 2. Finally, fade to image of Udina talking to the Illusive Man, leader of Cerberus. Udina: "So, we have a deal?" Illusive Man: "Of course. We both want what's best for humanity, no matter the cost." Haven't worked out music yet, but that's what I've got so far. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 766 Joined: 7 Jan 2008 | I agree that a Sequel to Mass Effect has to have even greater and harder decisions to make, and i hope they go with the renegade ending as canon, with the Council replaced by Human Leaders that don't really fit well with just about anyone else. And over the course of the Game, you could become the Lapdog for the Human Rulers, a symphatisant of a ruthless resistance, or just a careless kind-of better mercenary. Back to Topic: ...The Trailer should reflect that...and should have some mind boggling image in it, like the normandy burning or Shepard facing a whole Battalion of Reaper-Ships. But i can't come up with any good music, except maybe "The Tower that ate people" by Peter Gabriel |

Maybe you should edit the title. "What music will work on the Mass Effect 2 Trailer?" or something like that.
I thought that the game continued from the place you left off. For example if you replaced the council then the game did that for you but if you saved them then in the sequel they would be saved. They would interlink the stories/saves of each character. Or do you mean canon for extened universe or a possible movie? |

Problem is, i don't think they can work out a story that works for both ways, so yes, i meant game. Then again, maybe they come up with something to quickly explain why Humans are the leaders/The Council exists despite your decision. In anyway, i just hope that they go for the "Humans as sole leaders of the Alliance" thing, since it would be a base for a very interesting story and impactful quests. But since you mentioned that Interlink thing...i really wonder if your "Fan" from the First Game will show up. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2044 Joined: 10 Nov 2008 | The game definitely continues from where the player left it in the first one. The second book comes after the first game and is worded very carefully to not choose any ending. It mentions that the council has been re-structured but doesn't go into any more detail than that. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 846 Joined: 5 Aug 2008 | Is it just me or does Bioware rock hardcore? I mean is there any company you can name with more great games in development at the same time? They've already announced Dragon Age which looks great, they just announced the Star Wars MMO (I'm a huge Star Wars nerd so that game is full of win), and we know that they are working on Mass Effect 2 and 3. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 766 Joined: 7 Jan 2008 | Oh, something i forgot: I really hope ME2 gives you ALWAYS a dialogue option to punch people in the face. It was always fun to see your Shepard resort to physical violence whenever non-hostiles got very annoying. In fact...is there some PC-Version Mod that lets you solve every of the first one's sidequests that way? That would ROCK. "Should i get an abortion?" |

The first Mass Effect game trailers used two very popular pieces of Trailer music: James Dooley's Trinity [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lYwcaJKiBA ] and Dark Empire by X-ray Dog [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9LsBWPlors ]. They were both used fantastically. Does anybody have a piece of music they would love for them to use in the sequel trailers? "Preliator" by Globus/Immediate is good, but far too predictable.
These are my favorites:

What do you think? Ideas? Opinions? Contempt?
EDIT: If you want we can also discuss possible new DLC for the game as well. Me and a few other Escapists thought it would be cool to have a side-quest revolving around Nihlus' memorial/funeral service. Feel free to suggest something.
