Did you play the original]/i] Killzone? Killzone 2 looks like [i]that with better graphics. |

I'm sorry, but how do you even know I have my foot in my mouth, it must be hard to see with your head stuck all the way up your ass! |

All I'm pointing out is that what came before a game proves nothing, a game has to stand on its own or fail(simple really). After all KOTR2 is crap compared to the first. So please wipe the foam from you mouth. |

Ok, don't buy it. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 80 Joined: 19 Nov 2008 | I really disliked the Elder Scrolls series. I had a friend who used to rave about Morrowind and when I finally played it he sat near, watching as I crafted my character carefully over an hour, explored the initial area and was promptly fucked up by a crab or a rat or something. That put me off. Hence why I really think I won't like Fallout 3. By the same virtue, games I loved like Splinter Cell, he detests. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1395 Joined: 9 Jun 2008 | Add my name to the list of people who don't see why Halo is a gift directly from God, complete with the answer's to all life's questions. I just see it as another mediocre FPS. Oh, and I don't know if the Dragonball Z games are particularly well-rated, but I can't stand them either. Just throwing that out there to voice something different. |
Muckraker Posts: 292 Joined: 25 Mar 2008 | Guitar Hero/Rock Band, even though I do like it. I'll never understand why everyone has so much fun with it... myself included of course. It really confounds me, because all you're doing is pressing coloured buttons, wailing on a plastic drumset so hard it drowns out the music, or singing terribly... and yet, if anyone gets a round of Guitar Hero going, I'm totally game for it. What have they done to me?! On the same note, DDR. |

Muckraker Posts: 318 Joined: 31 Oct 2008 | DBZ games are excellent if played in their original japanese, and with no subtitles. Nothing more fun than doing the voice overs with a friend. But I've never heard anyone say they liked them except for one and he was a huge DBZ fan and was 12 at the time so that was almost 8 years ago. |

I don't see how 9 was over-rated, most people worship at the altar of 7 and those who don't like 8 or 6. I barely remember 9.. even PA tend to forget it : |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2861 Joined: 3 Jan 2008 | I also fail to see how XII is overrated since I have to beat up FF fanboys because the vocal majority think it's shit. In other news the Vocal majority in nearly everything is stupid. As for a game that was overrated. Hmmm... FFVII, I played and completed every other FF but VII remains a stalwart bastion that seeks to allways land behind games like Persona 2 and SRW Alpha |
Copy Clerk Posts: 80 Joined: 19 Nov 2008 | I adore VII but the amount of praise it gets is crazy. Next we'll have a spin off game where you play as Jenova's head. |

Press Junketeer Posts: 351 Joined: 18 May 2008 | Ico, my God it was so boring. I got so bored with it, I didn't even compleate the demo. Yet everyone says it's one of the best games ever, they must have forgot to put the awsomeness in the demo. |
Muckraker Posts: 318 Joined: 31 Oct 2008 | Because if we hate JRPGs for being more of the same then 9 was as samey as it got. It was full of unrelatable and unlikeable characters, anyone who was even remotely interesting was shoved off screen to make way for Princess and Monkey-cat. And there is no way that I can like a game where I have to be a monkey cat, the story was unsatisfying and poorly thought out. Introducing a new villain every disk is not good story telling. And I couldn't stand the battle system. Typing this though, I realize that if you change a few nouns I could be describing 7 or 8 so I guess the whole thing is a matter of opinion. But I enjoyed playing 8 but think that it is perhaps even more over-rated than 7 and 9 put together. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1416 Joined: 19 Jun 2008 | Jeez, if I think about it honestly, pretty much every game released over the last 5 or 6 years has seemed overrated. Sure, a lot of them have been fun, but no more special than the c64, nes or atari games I grew up with. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1409 Joined: 9 Jul 2008 | Final Fantasy games, Mario games and Zelda games. I also have to mention Halo 2 and 3 (But multiplayer is awesome) and also the Gears of War games, they just tried to do what Halo did and thats at most a double fail, I don't even see why they are so popular. |
Paperboy Posts: 17 Joined: 18 Nov 2008 | Lego Star Wars, never seemed to be as much fun as was promised. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 836 Joined: 9 May 2008 | Just about every game that gets tons of positive publicity tends to wind up overrated. No game is perfect. Very few games actually deserve to get the highest review score that the reviewer has. I tend to think that the medium-high scores that some reviewers give games that are generally considered to be the best thing since sliced bread are probably more accurate. That's why I usually read reviews from several different sources that are not owned by the same publishing company before I buy a brand new game. Somewhere between the reviewer who says the game is the worst one this year and the reviewer who says the game is the best game ever is usually the way the game really is. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1409 Joined: 9 Jul 2008 | I forgot to add Killzone to the list, annoyingly I was still doing GCSE's when that came out and I got caught up in all the hype. nto helped by all the PS2 mags saying how awesome it was, and while the first few levels was fun, ti trailed off badly, nto to mention the glitches and load times. It was not very terrible, just average. That was the last game I ever got hyped up over. |

Muckraker Posts: 337 Joined: 6 Feb 2008 | to whoever keeps saying half life, dead wrong. sorry, but if you think that half life, the game that pretty much is single handedly responsible for there being some actual DEPTH in shooters is over rated theres something seriously wrong with you. without half life games today, espically shooters, would likely be just a step up from doom and quake in terms of actually having a story. valve did things with half life that no other developer at the time was doing, and the result was literally one of the few truly revolutionary shooters ever made. while half life 2 wasant as revolutionary (for lack of a better word on my part) as the orginal, it took in game story telling and character depth to a new level and is easily the best example of where in game physics were actually useful and not just something to make it look pretty. sure, the puzzles are getting repetitive, but if you played hl2 when it came out they sure as hell werent, just the opposite in fact, it was something that hadent really been seen before. tf2 is the first fps multiplayer game to actually give very distinct character to each class, that and the fact that its just one of the most fun youll have with a multiplayer game and the fact of how over the top and hilarioius it is and you can say that its over rated? left 4 dead isnt on the same level in terms of outstanding design as were valves previous games, but its still a hell of a lot of fun. anyway, in terms of overrated, cod4. it is literally, in every way, shape and form cod2 in modern times and both the single player and multiplayer aspects pale in comparison to so many other games out there when its not just outright ripping off said games all together. at absolute best cod4 shows that infinity ward (unless they pull something with cod6/cod2009) and the cod series are just stagnating. the first cod was very good and showed what could really be done with scrpited events, but cod4 doesent do anything that the orgianl didnt do. halo 2 and 3. halo is a damn good game, but the series as a whole is so average its mind boggling. and to whoever said that halo 2 revolutionized online play, please. quake did the same thing 8 years earlier, just because it introduced you to online gaming doesent make it revolutionary, and the fact of the matter is that nothing that any halo game has ever done hadent been done before. good games, but an average run of the mill shooter at best. |
