Great games. Great console. Take your pick.

I go for Super Mario 64. It's just perfect.

Majora's Mask for me. Why do you have only the two games? Where's Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, DK 64, Super Smash Bros., Majora's Mask...

I had eight, but an admin reduced it to two as a joke. Now they're restored.

I know, but I only had eight options so I picked the ones people would vote for. I love Space Station Silicon Valley, Rocket: Robot on Wheels, Ogre Battle 64, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, DOOM 64, Blast Corps., Castlevania 64, Turok: Rage Wars, Pokemon Puzzle League, Duke Nukem 64, Mystical Ninja Goemon, etc.

there were so many better ones such as

starfox 64
jet force jemini
nightmare creatures

I was going to scold you for liking those games more than SM64, OoT, GoldenEye, etc., but then I remembered that I enjoyed Pokemon Puzzle League (a.k.a Tetris Attack) more than Zelda.

Obvious choice, but I go for Ocarina. I've never been so astounded by a game for it's level design, puzzles, controls and a brilliant time travel mechanic. It shaped all 3D adventures to come, so pretty important too, and to my mind the greatest triumph the games industry has ever produced.

Banjo Kazooie was better than Mario 64 overall in my opinion but I'll never forget the moment I saw a Mario game in 3d where you could actually see 360 degree and go anywhere!

My vote is for Goldeneye 007 though; absolute classic.

Surely Goldeneye? Iconic? Anyone?

Well, this thread looks like a race between OoT and 007.

I always thought best 64 games were SM64, Conker, GoldenEye, and Paper Mario. Zelda's puzzles always frustrated me, since they seemed to often be based on obscurity more than coherent problem-solving (this was less annoying somehow in the 2D ones).

IMO, I never liked Kazooie, Tooie or DK64 - too derivative, especially on a platform that enjoyed the likes of OoT, SM64, Space Station Silicon Valley and Conker.

Ocarina of Time, and where's Mario Kart 64? :O
That's a close second for me. I have Mario 64 but it got old after a while, I should play that again...
I might be playing Conker's Bad Fur Day soon if the damn game would get here already...

I generally dislike any cartoony style 3d action/platformer game. Just find them unexciting.

All the games on 64 were great, I will never forget OoT, still the best adventure game I have ever played! Lets not forget Mario Kart 64, I think the best part about that game was the battle mode, my friends and I played that more than any other multiplayer game on 64.

Legend of Zelda: OOT.

By far the most immersing N64 game IMO.

Naturally Goldeneye.

Shame N64 had only a handful of games I actually liked, I would of regretted buying it if it wasn't for Goldeneye.

Where's the option for Pokemon Snap? Kidding. It's not the best N64 game, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

The lack of love for Blast Corps makes me a sad panda.

It probably wasn't up there with GoldenEye, Mario and StarFox (pulling your first Immelman was amazing) but what a brilliant and refreshing concept for a game. I'd love to see a sequel.

Blast Corps. owns my ass, I just didn't really have the space to include it - and FYI it got better reviews than StarFox 64, mostly.

And yeah, more Corps. would be nice: on VC/XBLA or as a sequel - assuming Rare doesn't botch it, like they have with PD: Zero, the new Banjo, and Conker: L&R (which I consider unlikely; all Rare can do is develop games that get 80% averages these days).

I voted for SM64 because it makes me melt into a puddle of pure ecstasy just to pull his nose at the title screen.
Perfect dark is better than GoldenEye IMO. Better guns, more immersive story and a better lead character.

I love ALL N64 games because they are big carts. Nothing better than a big cart. Much better than a big disc like everyone seems to cram into their fanboy arses these days for three reasons.

1. A cart can take a beating and STILL be as good as before you droppoed it down the stairs.
2. You can save onto a cart. You need nothing but the console, a controller, a game and the TV
3. Easier to wipe fecal matter off a cart

almost to hard to decide, but i went with Ocarina of Time as i find it to be the best game ever created, but the N64 easily has the best games ever made, and when it comes to consoles, its on my top 3 with NES and ps1

I remember the first time I saw Mario take off his hat and scratch his head in Mario 64. I thought it was a sign of the gods and the pinnacle of gaming...Please keep in mind, I was 9 or 10 years old.

I played the hell out of Pokemon snap. Maxed-out score on the Mew pic, right here. I really want to say that it, or any of the games on the list are my favourite, but there is one game that must be given love.

OMG I played Conkers Bad Fur Day at a friends house and now I want it so bad D:!!!

I agree about Zeldas "puzzles" too. Water Temple goes down as most frustrating dungeon in a 3D Zelda game.

definately OOT. super mario 64 was ok but not as good as the 2D games (mario bros 3 is the best so far). goldeneye was classic, perfect darf was great but didnt have...something...that goldeneye did. majora's mask was a good game but it wasn't as good as OOT. i havent played smash bros, would like to someday, though!

I'm not really sure there's a whole lot to argue about. I think most of the people who prefer single player games (or don't have friends; sorry, guys, since I'm grown and married and none of my friends play videogames anymore, I'm basically in your boat too) are going to go for Ocarina of Time and all of guys like me who had that one friend whose mother let all us twelve year old kids stay up drinking soda and playing videogames until 4 in the morning are going to go for Goldeneye. And at this point, it looks like that's a solid third of us.

I'll give honorable mention awards to SSB, because it was awesome to own people with Jigglypuff, and to Mario Kart, except for that one Wario Stadium level where all of your friends knew how to do that shortcut jump but you.

In the end though, I don't think I'll ever have the sort of fun in my life again that I used to have with Goldeneye. There's just one thing I have to get off my chest...

Blast Corps was a game and a half. Went for Goldeneye because I had so many good times with friends playing that. Banjo-Kazooie is a classic too, shame the new one doesn't sound like it's up to scratch.

Pilotwings was another amazing game. Top background music too.

And I played Donkey Kong til my hands got RSI.... not really but I did play it a lot

I SEE NO OPTION FOR LYLAT WARS!

Besides being the game that simngle handedly ruined my life (I reckong I've racked up at least 10'000 play throughs in the 11 years since it came out), it's highly addictive. It's also the best rail shooter ever made. Or ever likely to be made for that matter.

Although of that list it's either Goldeneye or Mario.

Both completely nailed their respective concepts at a time when nobody was quite sure how do a 3-D platformer or Console specific FPS.
