Like my N64 thread, except about Xbox.

Also, I'm discluding 'late' ports here like Half-Life 2 or GTA III.

I chose Jade Empire. It was a tossup between Kotor and that, but looking back on the two of them, even as a HUGE Kotor fan, I'd still probably rather play Jade Empire. However, KOTOR does need to come to the Xbox Originals on XBL

agreed they also need to add a few other lesser known games and stuff that may not have been released in all regions during the xbox's lifetime.

*Facepalm*

I loved the first Halo, the others not so much but hey it gave me something to do! I haven't played Ninja Gaiden or Elder Scrolls but I wasn't really interested in them.

Makes you realise how weak the Xbox was doens't it? The 360, I love, but if those are the best a console can offer, yikes.

Psychonauts? I know it was multiformat but it was the best game I played on it,anyway.

Got to be Conker Live and Reloaded. I spent hours playing that game and loved it online.

Well, not really. I'm discluding 'late' ports here - which means the GTAs and Half-Life 2 don't make the list - plus the Xbox is a different console than the N64 whereby it's easy to pin down the best games for it (someone might easily prefer games like Beyond Good & Evil, Psychonauts, Dead or Alive Ultimate, or Fable just for example).

I always thought Xbox was the best console of its generation if you didn't own a gaming PC. There are alot of games I liked on the system that wouldn't make a populist poll: Shenmue II, Sid Meier's Pirates!, Jet Set Radio Future, Sonic Mega Collection, House of the Dead III, Spider-Man 2, The Sims 2, Deux Ex: The Invisible War, Conker: Live and Reloaded, etc.

KoTOR. Pure utter brilliance, especially when compared to the underwhelming, rushed sequel.

Voting Other, jotting down TimeSplitters 3 in here. Was perhaps a multiplatform, but the best time I've had with an Xbox (don't own one, a lot of buddies do, though).

Without a doubt, Armed and Dangerous was the best game i've ever played on Xbox. The game has a Land Shark Gun. come on. It doesn't get better than that. Plus the jokes and banter, and even the cut scenes were helarious. If i end up getting a 360 i'll even check to see if it works with it.

I put Halo 2, so much time wasted playing 4 player on that...

Timesplitters 2 > Timesplitters 3

Right I think what one of those is an xbox exclusive, Shenmue II. You hardly need a gaming rig to run Pirates, the sims, Deus Ex or even HL2. The main problem with this poll as opposed to the N64 one, which I thought was good, is that the last few generations of consoles have become so cross-platform that it's actually irrelevant what you have.

Goldeneye, Mario 64, Kart 64, Ocarina of Time. They define that console. None of the quoted games except Halo define the Xbox and standing on that, just not really anything to poll about.

Halo series and Dead or Alive were the only good exclusives on the Xbox.

Also I'm starting to suspect that you may be anti-playstation Erzapound...

The best Xbox title is the sequel to the best Dreamcast title. Jet Set Radio Future.

Halo

Conker: live and Reloaded

You are right, my PS2 got much more use than my Xbox. However, with current gen, I am 360 all the way.

Saying that, I voted for Ninja Gaiden. I think that game definately pushed the capabilities of the system because it had graphics that look almost current gen. The gameplay was fresh can fun (for the time). It was a remake that felt like the original (especially when you take difficulty into account).

A few more are exclusive than that: Jet Set Radio Future, Shenmue II (not counting the PAL or Japanese versions), House of the Dead III, and Conker: Live and Reloaded. But I see your point. I should add, though, that a) in the years the games you cited came out regular PCs were less apt to be able to play them, and b) the Xbox had a nice cross-section of PC/PS2 ports, post-DC Sega titles (I'm huge Shenmue fan), and exclusives - however numbered. Moreover, it was well-balanced in terms of genres: if you wanted a fighting game, you could get Soul Calibur II or DOA3; if you wanted an RPG, you could get Jade Empire or Morrowind; if you wanted a simulation you could get The Sims 2 or Pirates!, etc.

And yeah, consoles are getting progressively more samey (excepting Nintendo's, of course) for a number of reasons, which renders this thread somewhat obsolete. It's like the PS3 vs. Xbox 360 debate: who really cares? Assassin's Creed, BioShock, Orange Box, GTA IV, Final Fantasy XIII, and Call of Duty 4 are all available/will be available on both consoles. Insofar as I can tell, the only real basis to choose if you'd prefer a PS3 or an Xbox 360 - other than the Blu-Ray schtick - is whether you'd prefer Fable II and Mass Effect or Metal Gear Solid 4.

splinter cell: chaos theory hands down! i dont care what you all say im right your all wrong :)!

Timesplitters 2 > Timesplitters 3

How d'you reckon? In my mind it's more like: Timesplitters 2 = Timesplitters 3.

Jet Set Radio Future, Deus Ex Invisible War, or Otogi 2.

I know a lot of people hate Invisible War, but in my mind, it'll always be Invisible War > Deus Ex

I'd say the halos but I'd also have to include the armed and dangerous game(it was damn brilliant) & full spectrum warrior(it was on the ps2 also but so is chaos theory

Fable. Easily one of the most fun RPG's that I have ever played.

Bah to Halo, it's Panzer Dragoon Orta. The graphics still hold up 5 years later, and the game isn't a romp down easy street like many games these days. Also, it's got genuinely exciting boss battles and it's got a port of the original Panzer Dragoon, and a demo of Panzer Dragoon Zwei! What more can you ask for?

Thief 3: Deadly Shadows. That was a superbly atmospheric game of amazing fun.

It's hard to compare some of these games because of how different they were, but I'd still have to go with Halo:CE. It's the game that finally turned me into an FPS man.

Timesplitters 2 is the best game for the original xbox.

Best on PS2, too. Thank the Lord for my 60gb PS3!

Shame Fable 2 didn't live up to it.

However, my personal choice would be Legacy of Kain: Defiance. I think it was multi platform but it was one hell of a game.

Voodoo Vince. :D

Since it's quite obscure:
It's a platformer/puzzler. You play as a voodoo doll (called Vince) who got brought to life because this stuff called Zombie Dust got scattered around New Orleans (I'm pretty sure that's where it's set). You fight monsters by using yourself as a weapon. You can find upgrades for your voodoo powers like; 1940s Shoot-Out, Laxative (ouch), Angry God and Falling Cow. I love it, it has great music, great atmosphere, level design and it's pretty funny.

I should start doing game reviews...

I would love to say Fable 2, that game is so amazing. You can do so many things apart from becoming a dictator and then tuening your armies against the east in a endless war which ends with you fighing on some Eastern and being defeated beccause you didn't listen to your generals.

Voodoo Vince. I think the "kill myself to attack" mechanic could, if given some sequels, turned into a very impressive concept, but even in the first game it was impressive.

I think halo 2 is in my opinion
