Fallout 3 Glitch

I am currently on the Project Purity quest at the Jefferson Memorial and I think I have discovered a serious glitch in the game. Unfortunately, when I go into the basement to install the fuses I can not get back out. When I finish the task and go to open the door to leave the basement, the game freezes on that little clock that appears at the bottom of the screen. I then have to shut down the game console and restart from my last save. It happens every time. Please tell me that I am not the only person this is happening to. Any suggestions?

worst case scenerio i guess you can try fast travelling thats about my only idea

Do a different quest?

Do you have a previous save you can use? Not the one you intend to use, but one an hour or so back? What about the auto save? And I am assuming you are using a console version, otherwise if it was the PC version you would have just used the TCL command to pass through the wall. It may just be a glitch with that save file. Perhaps a previous save might not crash at that same point.

I don't know which phase of the quest you're talking about. If it's...

I believe he's talking about the first time you visit Jefferson Memorial with your father in tow. You activate power, then go get fuses off him, install the fuses and then you open a previously locked door and activate the mainframe.

To OP: You didn't specify if you turned the mainframe on or not. You want to make sure you've done that, then used the intercom to talk to your father. If the problem still persists, try using the console command "coc megatoncommonhouse" to warp to, funnily enough, the Megaton Common House. After that you should be able to continue the quest as normal. Typing in the code "pcb" (Purge cell buffer) to unload already visited cells could help as well, as it'd force the game to reload the Jefferson Memorial Giftshop area.

It's part of the main storymode, it's pretty crippling to your enjoyment of the game if you can't continue it.

once you put the fuses on, you have to go into this weird round path.. I found it without trying, so just follow your dad's directions via the intercoms.

once you are in that path, and see the events that transpire, you can return to the rotunda.

Guess what?! I have the same issue, figures!. Here's what u should do.. Call Bethesda at 410-568-3685 U. S. and mention Ref # 40097619. Politely (or not) bother the crap out of them. They are aware of this issue (on the 360 and PS3) and are working to get a patch out to us. Still, I don't think they are working fast enough. Please call and report ur issue. Remember that there is Power in Unity. In the mean time work on ur Misc. Quests and get some exp. points. I personally will be calling every single day until there is a fix to this issue (and all minor glitches)

It's possibly either:
A: Your game disk.
B: Your save file (Try an earlier one)
C: A glitch - Either wait for it to be fixed or call Bethesda support.

My friends glitch is probably worse...He's literally stuck at the citadel, right before the last main story quest, where you have to talk to two people (no spoilers here) before you can move on. It's a scripted sequence between conversations so it's not like he can leave and come back, he's literally stuck as the second conversation won't start

It's sounds more like he's on the console version, and thusly it might be his disc. I remember how after I had been playing Oblivion for a few years it decided that it didn't want to load a few places. Ended up having to get a new disc because mine had been so over played. Sounds like what he's having a problem with. He should try cleaning off his disc, turning his xbox on & off or even an old save. It may just be some weird glitch, but if he re-enters the Memorial Gift shop fine on another save file it's not his disc.

hey dude nothing works to fix it...it happend to me and i just had to skip ze misson sad day >.<

Sometimes game discs just are not made right. e.g. on one of the syphon filter games i played the disc only had one mission on it then it just ended i took it back and got my money back. That has put me of buying any more syphon filter games.

I know what you mean If you aren't line of sight to elder lion's you're screwed.

I had a glitch like that, I couldn't leave the basement in the black and white lane (I forgot what it is called) it froze everytime. I walked up to the door without looking at it and it worked, by that i mean don't get the whole door in the screen.

playig through Fallout 3 on the 360 numerous times, i have never had this glitch, i had one where there was clipping issues and half of the world would be covered by a brown/green\tan/rock colored polygon [but since has been fixed though] not to mention the sound vanishing during the birthday party sequence, and a very VERY annoying echo when using the hunting rifle inside a metro tunnel

never happened to me

I just did that quest two days ago, didn't have any problems. In fact the only glitch I've encountered so far is the one where a character model goes insane and it turns into this floating black... Carnage-ish thing. Hard to describe.

Having same issue on xbox 360, after installing fuses and activating mainframe game glitches on next loading point. And this is download from xbox marketplace so no disc.

A game-breaker in a Bethesda game? Stop the presses!
Either don't do the quest (Meaning you miss out on the rest of the story missions and Broken Steel, if you have it) or restart entirely and hope it doesn't break when you get to it again.
