I'm playing it on PC, I'm not stupid. haha. |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 674 Joined: 5 Jul 2008 | Worst team I've had were just two guys dicking around, and killing each-other. I've found that most people I've played with are very friendly. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1805 Joined: 29 Oct 2008 | I honestly think people are fine most of the time. But I was just annoyed with the team I had this time. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3350 Joined: 3 Apr 2008 | Just general cock-ups... I normally play with friends. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1355 Joined: 13 Oct 2008 | I only play that game with good friends, so I've never run into those problems. I quickly found a great group to play with because I became really annoyed with those types of people. I feel your pain bro, best just to find a good group to play with, or ignore the idiots as best as you can. |

Yeah, I'm MEANT to be playing with a couple of college mates and one of my best mates but we haven't all been on together yet. It's so irritating. One of them is at uni and isn't sorting his net out until he's back, one of them recently broke their internet, and the other just isn't on much. 2 or 3 of my mates said they're probs getting it :/ |

Trust me, it gets MUCH better once you play with friends. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1814 Joined: 20 Feb 2008 | Question with the PC version. I'm in the Escapist community group but how to I join games with my fellow Escapists? Like that community group in Left 4 dead, how does that work? If anyone group PM me I would be grateful. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 772 Joined: 25 Jun 2008 | Well the simple solution is to just stick to single player games. This is why I avoid MMOs and FPS games that have more than one player. Its full of people obsessed with winning and being better with no sense of tact or manners. Granted I am not socially aware but I have a good reason thanks to my autism and even then I know enough to stay away from others since I can't interact with them properly. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 98 Joined: 29 Nov 2008 | "Secondly I just got vote kicked for, basically, being the only survivor who ISN'T incapacitated" I think it was more than that because i couldn't help but notice that you used the f word in the fourm so I assumed that there was some sort of argument between you and the host. |
On the Record Posts: 5693 Joined: 24 Apr 2008 | I played it at a friends house. Community on PC and 360 are asshats to the man, couple in gameplay more mechanical than Halo 3 and i cannot see why this game did as well as it did. Note: I did not say anywhere here that this is anything other than opinion. So please, don't fly into a spitting rage at me voicing my opinion. I know damn well that it is opinion. I will however, proffer the idea that it being opinion does not make it wrong. |

Nope. Just really annoyed at the lack of reasoning. Granted a lot of people will vote to kick the second a vote opens because they assume the person has done something wrong and so just go along with it. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 823 Joined: 22 Nov 2008 | My worst experience was... me and my friend were pissing around on this campaign server, we were feeling stupid, so we set the difficulty to easy and then went in with medpack melee only (relying on the AI for tanks and the like) - then, 2 admins join the game, and although they don't change the difficulty back, demand that we use guns (and by jesus, those guys actually needed them - they managed to DIE in easy, WITH support) and then they just randomly started kicking us, although we could rejoin they never banned us, and then started trying to teamkill.... |
BANNED Posts: 932 Joined: 17 Aug 2008 | Worst experience? I was playing with some guys on Blood Harvest and this one guy went AFK the entire game then came back in the last round and started teamkilling and taking all the medkits. Then when I start calling the guy out, they fucking boot me, and I was carrying the team. User was banned for: Oh god, bees.. (Permanent) |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4199 Joined: 20 Dec 2007 | Ironically my worst experience was on Versus mode. Some guy got on Versus and started blowing into his microphone and calling lots of votes so that we could prevent vote-kicking him. VERSUS MODE WAS MADE FOR GRIEFERS! Why Grief on versus FFS?! |
BANNED Posts: 1891 Joined: 26 Mar 2008 | Two things that annoys me are people who keep going AFK. For christ sake people click the "Take a break" button please, they added this handy feature for a reason. The second this is just new players, i understand people have to start somewhere but for the love of christ play some single player with bots before jumping into online games. People asking how the turn on the flashlight starts getting annoying. Apart from that i have no problems with people, i can imagine XBL gets more idiots. Gone Gonzo Posts: 1871 Joined: 11 Jun 2008 | I had one guy yell at me for seperating from the group, when the only reason why I back tracked what to save his lame ass friend who he was split screening with. How do you end up ditching your roomate that you're on split screen with? As for people complaining on Left 4 Dead, consider it par for the course. I almost play just for the bizarre social dynamic and spazzouts of the insane Xbox 360 players, laughing the whole time. It's a zombie invasion game with an AI that ramps up to work against you... it's freaking designed to push things to their limit and stress you out. Well done Valve. |

I had that too, although it was just the one person TK'ing everyone else. Another issue I had was being kicked for no discernable reason. L4D does seem to have a largely friendly community though, Ive only heard one whiny American teen since it was released - a record for XBL surely? |
Copy Clerk Posts: 81 Joined: 17 Apr 2008 | I was sniping zombies with the hunting rifle and then one of my teammates pushes me just as i was pulling the trigger. Guess what I shot...A PROPANE TANK. Two of us were incapacitated and the player zombies saw this as the perfect time to strike so lets just say we were all dead in about 40 seconds. Stop pushing people damn it! |
Beat Writer Posts: 172 Joined: 30 Aug 2008 | the biggest problem i have is it seems that i get stuck with newbs everygame or just people that absolutely suck at the game. i'm not kidding when i say that on average i kill 4 times more than anyone else. people drive me crazy. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1548 Joined: 20 Mar 2008 | I've generally had good luck with my random matches, though granted the bouts with actual friends are the most fun. I've been vote kicked for being the last survivor, but it was partially my fault. The idiots startled the witch, got vomited on, made the car alarm go off, and decided to try and kill them all instead of running like hell. So reacting to their extreme stupidity, I said "To hell with this!" and made a run for the safe room, where I chilled while the retards got their just desserts (and the zombies had dessert). Funny thing was, I tried to get another random server and wound up getting linked to the opposite side of the same game. Needless to say I made sure they wet their pants with all the pouncing I did. That and pulling them over to the witch as the smoker. That never gets old. Other than that, I've had a pretty good run on both XBL and Steam. Must be my luck. |

The usual response to people who do this is to calmy ignore them and continue the mission. Three guns that work is no different from three guns that work and one that works but doesn't help. |

Wow...someone has one hell of an ego problem. A natural problem that ALL online games will have (no exceptions, yes, I am looking at you Mr. Smug-PC-gamer-twat) is that you are going to encounter a) people who are not very good at a given game b) self important 'hardcore' players who believe that they must win at all costs and that 'it's not a game, it's a way of life' and finally, c) annoying, immature (sometimes racist) and thick-headed players who believe that it is their personal duty to ruin everyone else's fun and enjoyment. It's not just on Xbox Live either. |
Muckraker Posts: 285 Joined: 12 Sep 2008 | Beginning of the game, they all run on ahead, i am just about to follow (I was the only one who got a med kit) and what do you know, i get taken by a hunter and die within 10-20 seconds of the game. Retards. |
Paperboy Posts: 45 Joined: 30 Nov 2008 | These are the reasons why I refuse to play L4D online. I love that game to bits and pieces, and it's super-fun to play it with my brother and my friends, but everybody knows 90% of online gamers are really obnoxious. I don't want a bunch of arsehats ruining a multi-player zombie apocalypse game for me. I also have to say that, as a relative amateur L4D player, online play would not appeal to me. I'm just not as good as some people are, and I don't want that to ruin my experience or anybody else's. Honestly, I don't know how I've managed to play level 80+ characters on Diablo II for so many years with people constantly squawking, "FREE? FREE? FREE?" at me. |
Beat Writer Posts: 172 Joined: 30 Aug 2008 | not an ego problem, i was using the term newb as a broader scope for the immature and somewhat childish way people act online.
not an ego problem, i was using the term newb as a broader scope for the immature and somewhat childish way people act online. seems you need to come off your holier i never make mistakes podium yourself, i'm not a pc gamer twat, not even a pc gamer twat. sounds like you're trying to be like yahtzee why don't get your own unique opinion and when you do share it with us twat. |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 587 Joined: 7 Nov 2006 | When my team in vs mode decided to camp the spawn room so they could "clear the first part in complete safety". yeah good work retards, totally ignore the fact that this is vs mode for one, and that zombies get spawned by the AI director. So after a while I convince them that you have to keep moving in vs mode to avoid having to fight boss infected every 20 seconds without gaining any ground, and I keep pushing them along a bit at a time. Until they decide to all go for medpacks which are at the START of the level, and it was the train station level, so they can't get up the hole to begin with. One person thinking you could do that, I can understand, but 3 of them at once? What kind of sick luck is that? So despite being 20 metres away from them they decide to run off, I get smokered and pounced at once, I die. Needless to say they didn't last long. I didn't feel like helping my team win, so I actually managed to get the opposition survivors to not kill me as a boomer, and I just ran with them through the level. Setting up a few easy kills by throwing up on them while they put propane and petrol tanks around. :D In this very same game, the tank spawn was given to one of the retards, and he began attacking from that room above the minigun, the team I was following threw a molotov, lit him on fire, so the dumbass decided to leg it to safety, and HID in a room, Ignoring my team and eventually dying. The team runs past, on the way killing the other 2 boss infected on my team who were standing next to each other on a car, just hitting each other. Weirdest game I've ever been in by a long shot. |

Ok usually in game, people can be bareable. But one thing I absolutely cannot stand is people in the lobbies that shout "Start!" repeatedly. I swear to god only like 1/20 L4D players understand that even if the lobby is full, you need to search for a server. They're like "ok, it's full YTF ARENT WE PLAYING!?"
Secondly I just got vote kicked for, basically, being the only survivor who ISN'T incapacitated. My stupid pathetic team aggrivated the witch, got vomited on, pinned by a smoker and a hunter all at the same time and they have the fucking guts to kick me for "not helping". In that time, I must have shoved off two hunters, killed one, killed the witch, killed at least 10 infected, shot the boomer (who splahed on everyone except me), and seperated the guy tied by the smoker all in about 20 seconds.
Yeah, you're right. You might as well just kick me for being a noob. I'm guessing you could have all done that and saved all the survivors at the same time, yeah?
Something to talk about: What's the worst experience you've had so far on L4D?
