So when did all you escapists start gaming and what was your first game. (baby educational games dont count for this i mean real gaming)

I barely remember i started my gamin on computer when i was about 3 (kinda sad actually). My first game was the original Doom (in retrospect i had very bad parents) I was able to complete the entire game but never the last level because i found it way to scary.

Well, when I was in second grade (around 8) I got a GameCube for Christmas. I played Madden 2002 and Pikmin and lots of other games that I don't remember. I also played the Sims in 3-4th grade. But my first REAL game was Call of Duty in 4th grade.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time at around 6 or 7. Mind you it took me forever to find the Kokori Sword and I stopped entirely right when I entered Jabu-Jabu.

I remember playing Sonic the Hedgehog for the Saturn (or was it Genesis? I don't recall) when I was four. I also played Stonekeep as part of my first game repertoire. Man, that was awesome.

Came to the party very late. Asides from playing Sonic on the MegaDrive I only really got the the bug taking breaks from MUSIC2000 on the PS1. Got addicted to Medal of Honour, Spider Man and Tony Hawks. Progressed onto the PS2 from there and now own a Wii, Ps2, PS3, Xbox and PC and am hoping to get a 360 and a DS (again) in the new year.

I was about 5 or 7 when i started gaming a little... It was mostly innocent puzzle games, old Heroes of Might and Magic (like 1 or 2, 3rd wasn't out yet) and lots of Doom/Doom2 and Duke Nukem =D

And then i got into RPGs and strategies when i was a bit older then 7 and became a more serious gamer by the time i was like 10 or 11. By which i mean i began gaming a lot almost every day.

And yeah I've been a PC/windows (well and DOS i guess haha) gamer all my life, pretty much.

I started off with Gameboy Pokemon games, DBZ fighting games and Yu-Gi-Oh card games.
Moved up to Duke Nukem, Pokemon Stadium Games, Mario Kart Racing, and Goldeneye.
I played the Jak and Dax series all the way through, started RPGs with Final Fantasy Ten, and assured I would never leave the genre of FPS by playing the original Halo online and playing Splinter Cell games.

This has been done before.

My first gaming experience was with Sonic The Hedgehog on the Sega Megadrive/ Genesis.
I'm now 17, you do the maths.

That's not really something you can "do the maths on."

I mean, you could have played it on the Genesis 10 years after it came out.

Well my first could be classified as educational, but I loved it because it was just such a good game. It was Mathpower 3 or something along those lines. You could make your own band in the end and everything. SICK!

I bealieve the correct term is "Escapians" or "Escaporians."

EDIT: You found the original "DOOM" to be scary? One word: PUSSY McVagina!!! Doom 3 was scary!!!

I think I was 3. It was a game from 1995, and I was born '92.

Not sure which came first, but I remember Theme Park on the PC and Super Marioland 1 & 2 on the Gameboy (Pocket, not the original... later the GBC) being among my first games... this would be way back in the mists of prehistory (otherwise known as not much more than 10 years ago)

GBP came out in '96, so I was at least 5 for that one... I think that was a Christmas present when I was 5 or 6. Theme Park arrived in '94, but I wouldn't have been playing it that early, so I'm going to guess age of about 5 for either of the above.

when i was 4 on a snes. i was started gaming while the snes was in its later years and the N64 was nearly out on the market. oh ive been gaming ever since, going from snes to the game boy colour to the n64 to the playstation 1 and 2. good times. i think my first fps pc game was the first system shock.

some of the best games over that long time was: ape escape, sypro, medal of honour, banjo kazooie, prince of persia, XIII, GTA, system shock, fallout 1 and 2.

arhhh, trip down memory lane. but then graphics, physics, storylines have all changed for the better since then so who cares. ill just be going back to fallout 3 and farcry 2 now.

Somewhere between 3 and 5.

My system was the PS1 or the original GameBoy.
The earliest game was a Mario on the GameBoy.
Played Need for Speed and Tony Hawk for a while, then into Splinter Cell then into FPS's

I've been watching people play games for as long as I can remember, and I used to fiddle with certain parts of them, but I didn't actually finish a game until I was about 10 years old. I was in the fourth grade, and my parents got my twin brother and I an N64 and Ocarina of Time for our birthday.

Prior to that, I did play other games--Duke Nukem, stuff on the Atari, Sega Genesis' Sonic games--but like I said, I never finished a game until OoT came out.

I was 3 when my dad showed me how to use the commodore 64. I played any game I could load up. Mostly it was just this donald duck game and another that was this mix of simple games. My dad had over a 100 5.25" disks that some friends of his copied for him. I dont think we ever played them all.

One time, years later, I found a game called "Stroker."

yeah.... Good thing I had no idea what it was REALLY about.
