Okay, keeping in mind the 360's head issues, and me notiicng it's back does get hot, i'm looking for ways to keep it cool without buying one of those fans that voids my warranty. I've got 3 fans blowing on the thing at all times- one from the right, one from behind, and one from back and left. Any other suggestions (short of ducttaping an ice pack underneath the little folding card table it's on)?

I dunno. I bought the original model, like the week it came out, and I never had issues with it. Still is working perfectly, still after extensive 8 hours sessions.
The thing is, I always left it standing upright. Don't know if that is doing something good or not, but it never had any problems so far like I said.

Question: How is it standing upright? I have the Halo Edition one and it doesn't have the disc clip thing... Lmao

My X360 has a side that is inferior in size to some other sides and that does not have a Hard Drive protruding from it.
I make my console stand on that side so it reaches higher in altitude compared
to what it would if I placed it on one of the larger sides.
Does that answer you question?

My xbox will probably get fucked soon then, it's in a drawer with no ventilation and sometimes i forget about it and it gets left on overnight; come morning i open the drawer and get a cloud of hot air hitting my face..

Blow in the DVD player before you put your game in.

Consoles are back to that?!

...One under and one above the supply would be best as it would 'trap' the cold air more in the supply itself but if not it would work best under. Above might be ok too but not as much so, Thermodynamics are your friend...

Hot, lighter air goes up. Cold, denser air drops. Right?

Right, however if you have something cool on both sides then once the power supply itself is cooler that would help by making it so that you were not getting temperature loss. Kind of like Insulation to keep the power supply section of the case cooler overall. Granted the one under is key but both would be a bit better

Solution to all X-Box 360 issues - Switch to Atari 2600!

If, however, you feel for some incomprehensible reason that the former suggestion does not quite suit you, you might try searching for an old fashioned milk crate...

IE - http://www.advantagegrip.com/2008%20Images/milk_crate.gif

...Place your system on top of this and airflow will be nominal from all sides at all times unless you decide to cover all ventilation for some unknown reason. Beyond that, try stopping the disc before ejecting it to avoid possible laser damage. Also note that for some reason the 360 breaks faster when it's carted around to LAN parties. Solution - Host LANs as opposed to joining them. you can even get free food out of this if you insist that your guests bring drinks and snacks but I digress.

Lastly, be sure to read your warranty (you did purchase one, right) and don't do anything that would void the aforementioned agreement.

Try putting it in a fridge, that should keep it cool :P
Actually I would buy some computer fans and put them on your 360, just rest them on it though and that should keep it cool.

Drop it in water if it gets hot. That seems to work for me. Or, you can throw it against the wall.

Just keep it well ventilated and on its long side. When it's upright it also scratches games a lot more as well as blocking the floor. Every other week, WD-40 it up too. The dust can cause some traumas if you're not careful.

Buy a mini-fridge, and stick your 360 inside of it.

I gave mine a open air stand all to itself.
(Because of the over heating issue since I play a lot.)

Now I think it was called Pelican fan stand I have.
(Not the Intercooler Fan, this one is different it fans from the bottom, which means you cant have it laying down.)

Never had any problems, and when I play I usually put many consecutive hours on it without a problem.

BTW, this is just from friends but, all my friends who got a 360 IRL (About 14) all got a intercooler. Except me, my sister got me the pelican stand. (Thanks Sis)

Two years later, I'm the only one not to suffer from the RRoD out of the group.

Nyko intercoolers are notorious for decreasing the lifespan of your 360 - just reading the search headlines should raise all sorts of flags and alarms for the consumer who is contemplating a purchase.

You are a) extremely lucky your 360 has survived this long, and b) should not store any heat-generating electronic components in such harsh conditions - that includes the Wii, PS3 or computer. All electronics should be used in properly ventilated areas.

It seems to be more or less fine now. I got fans blowing on it like this / \ So hot air goes out the back. There's always some hot air coming out the back but I got the rest of the case cool.

I am aware of that, hence my post.

Just for the sake of pointing out the obvious, Nyko Inter coolers are the ones that attach on the back ,and Pelican Stands are attack to the bottom.

Pelican Stand

A Simple search will reveal that the pelican stands are preferred over other coolers based on price and efficiency.

Happy Gaming!
