Gone Gonzo Posts: 1495 Joined: 29 Jun 2008 | HELL YES! Wait, is this third party? Wow. I would definitely buy this. Even though I've beat HL. I was actually thinking about this when I was playing half-life. ALIENS IN SOURCE! Especially the Gargantuan. Hopefully the marines are more realistic, not so invincible. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3298 Joined: 1 Nov 2007 | Wow, this looks really awesome. I've played Half-Life 2 but never the original. I know people will think me vain but I just couldn't get past how terrible it looks now. It'll be good to understand Half-life 2's story better, and to play the game that started it all.
Mine pretty terrible too. This game probley won't look that different from the original on my PC thinking about it... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2583 Joined: 27 Sep 2008 | Well I never played the original, so I may give it a go. Then again, I haven't found a remake of anything I like yet, so I could probably save myself some cash and get the original. |

Nope, it's the real deal. Besides 4 hours isn't really that unbeleaveable, I've seen it done in 1 hour. |
Beat Writer Posts: 207 Joined: 15 Aug 2008 | FRIGGIN' AWESOME!! I've been waiting for them to remake this game |
Copy Clerk Posts: 98 Joined: 19 Oct 2008 | I'm lookin' forward to it. It's been years since I played the original HL and I don't really remember everything that happened. With HL2: Ep. 3 coming sometime "soon," and how it's supposedly the end of the HL story line, it would be neat to be able to play through the whole story with nice graphics. |
Paperboy Posts: 16 Joined: 11 Jun 2008 | "Besides 4 hours isn't really that unbeleaveable, I've seen it done in 1 hour." It's very unbelievable, the original HL is at least 20 hours of gameplay. HL is about the same length as HL2, which Valve regards as 30hours of gameplay. Done in 20 yes, done in 4 or less, no... |

Yes, less than 4 hours is impossible... Try to think before you post. |

The mod's free; you just need a Steam account and client and pony up for a Source engine-based game. You can buy Half-Life: Source on Steam for USD9.99. |

I have heard talk of this Steam thing you speak of. I'll have to check it out, I'm fairly new to the interwebs you see. :P |

I can't really invalidate you, having never played Deus Ex. But I do assume you played it when it was still rather new. I also assume that a person like me who hasn't played it when it was new wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much as you did. |

A very good point. However, I truly believe that Deus Ex is timeless and appeals to old and new fans alike. I still get the same thrill when I play it now as I did back then. I'd be really interested to see what you think of it. |

The expansions aren't considered canon because they're the work of a different developer and contain quite a few inconsistencies with the original game's storyline. Marc Laidlaw, the series' writer, confirmed that Valve don't consider the expansions canon. |

False. I just picked it up last year (around 6 or 7 years after its release) and it's probably the best game I have ever played.
In the offchance that that wasn't a joke, yes, you completely have to. Steam had a kind of rough launch, but now it's pretty brilliant. And to all those who are asking about a 360 port. It's a mod, not made by valve. The last time a mod came out for 360 without being first bought by a dev like valve was never, as far as I know. If you want it, you'll need to get valve to buy it. Please wait till we've got it for free though :p. Honestly though, this mod is the most likely of all the mods I've seen to be bought by valve. |

How do you purpose to 'port' a mod to Xbox? Unless you can take the source engine as wel-- Oh wait you can't. Also your point about 'old' shooters sucking is well, stupid. User was banned for: FUN FORUM GAME THX FO PLAYIN :3. (Permanent) |
Muckraker Posts: 242 Joined: 7 Aug 2008 | A HL re-make? OK, those who know me well know I hate the first HL a lot but a re-make with a chance to do things better, now this could be good but its fan-made isent it? I think I'll give it a miss especaly seeing as most of it will be the same, unless its several miles shorter and dosent play so fidly I'm not realy intrested. |

Nothing but most fans want the things they like to stay the same so I'm expecting it to be a copy/paste dealie with better graphics, and half the fun with mods is changing stuff. If I get the chance to play it start-to-finish I might change my thoughts but until then..... |

Valve are great guys and really support the modding community but surely that's pushing it a little? And holy fuck CO-OP!? Yes. God damn it. Yes. As for a 360 port. I actually wouldn't be suprised considering valve picked up 'still alive' for a xbox live release.
But it has teh life bars and teh health packs! 2 OLD! 2 OLD! It shuld go in the bad pile with Dues Ex + other olde shooters. |

Of course. You did a speed run on your first attempt. I call BS. |

Hey, I still play the original Doom more than half of the games that I own. I don't know why, but no other shooter has been so addicting to me. |

You must have never played Half Life, because it's hands down better than most every other shooter that's been splooged into the faces of gamers since 1998. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1261 Joined: 3 Sep 2008 | I just came. Hopefully they fix Xen. I played through Half Life way back when and I couldn't get the hang of the jumping. Replayed a few months ago and I had the same problem. You needed to like crouch then jump which I could do on Portal but not on that. |

I don't do speed runs, I just happened to complete that game quickly, I have Murrah as a witness. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1810 Joined: 8 Apr 2008 | Awesome stuff, I just recently finally played all the way through the original thanks to the 0.98 deal, and I'd be more than willing to play it again prettier. Though as someone who is awful at FPS games, I hope they nerf Nihilanth at least a little bit in Easy Mode. That thing took me more than two dozen tries. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2849 Joined: 8 Jul 2008 | Wow... I'm not a big fan of Half-Life 2 though. Because it's taken hours just to get halfway through the damn thing. |

I believe it's a mod, so no, it won't be ported to 360. |

It was the ZP review of Phantom Hourglass. Yahtzee came up with the HL: Citrus Bazooka example to drive home his point about how Nintendo constantly rehashes its old franchises. Still, I have to admit that this mod looks great.
