My list of bad, overrated games:
- the Halo series (the PLOT and CHARACTERS for god's sake.. my eyes bleed..)
- Animal Crossing (wanna play obsessive-compulsive collection stuff? go Pokemon instead, it's actually good)
- Lost Planet (dumb combat mechanics, stiff controls, ugly)
- Age of Conan (tries to be an MMO and fails through instancing)
- Haze (graphics 4 years out of date, the only fun gameplay mechanic goes away quickly)

Worst game ever? Impossible to choose, so much crap out there. One of the almost invariably horrible movie tie-ins. Jumper, Transformers, one Spider-Man games.. yeah, probably. Tycoon games, just like adventure titles, are 'easymode' for wannabe developers, so there are some really crappy examples.

Shite!

I thought it would be good because I thought it was like a sequel to 'Flashback' or something (Which was freaking wicked).

Yeah, it was a sequel.

Shudder

I thought so! Good to know I'm not crazy...about this. It's really too bad they screwed up a great game like Flashback.

Yes, actually this was my first taste of the bitter-sweet nectar of SEQUEL DISAPPOINTMENT. I tried so hard to like it...

While I agree that the vast majority movie tie-ins are awful, there are exceptions. Spider-Man 2 is the first that jumps to mind, and if I think hard enough, then Wallace & Gromit Curse of the Warerabbit, Tron 2.0 and Quantum of Solace were all pretty good. Also, technically the Tak series is based on a TV series and there were a few Star Wars gems buried amidst the new trilogy crap.

And don't forget the Lego SW/Indy games!

Mobile Suit Gundam Crossfire

I liked it, wasn't perfect, but I did feel like a minor grunt in a big war. for all it's faults it was fun. Also cheap.

Remember the water physics?

i think McKids was the worst.. who the hell makes a game about McDonalds?

dunno but there was the burger king endorsed platformer game on the megadrive wasn't there. Or was that maccy D based as well??? Either way it sucked.

My vote goes to those horrible small soldiers games my mate had and forced me to play!

How it looked? was awesome. I still think the combat was crappy, but I wasn't expecting smooth actions, after all I had watched MGS 0079, I know how clunky those Mobile suits are.

Color a dinosaur(NES)
Pit Fighter(SNES)

those top my worst games ever played list...

Was hoping this wouldn't turn into a WoW vs the world argument.

Same with the Halo series, by no means the worst games made, just victims of their own hype unfortunately.

Worst game ever? Can't believe nobody's mentioned Enter the Matrix for the PC. Great potential, massive budget, FMV scenes with half the cast of the film included. What did we end up with? Buggy gameplay, awful controls, bad graphics and frankly ridiculous character animations.

The other one that sticks in mind was Terminator: War of the Machines. It was £40 for a half finished game. A badly designed team deathmatch mode was all we were left with, with non-existent multiplayer to boot.

Damn these cheap movie tie-ins.

out of all the games i've ever owned and played through im gonna have to say NFS: Pro Racer or whatever its called for the xbox 360, its basicly the legal version of NFS...WTF?, i remember NFS Porsche and the old NFS where you did rally in these amazing tracks that i still remember with a smile, with cops trying to hunt you down while other cars were nibbling at your tail, it was awesome, then comes NFS Pro Street and ruins it all by having drag races and checkpoint rally in legal cars, on normal boring tracks, it took out all the good things about the old NFS games and replaced them with realism, and that sucks, games arent supposed to emulate reality, getting away from reality is the only reason people play games, thats kinda the point of all gaming...

Wow that was funny.

Id have to go with Big Riggs. It's kind of false advertising calling it 'Big Rigg's Racing' because there isnt any actual AI that does anything. The other car just sits there.

Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 & 2
This game is just bad.. the sequel is a copy/paste, really I can't tell the difference at most it should be an expansion. Every platform I've played this on both pc and ps3, and the frame rates are dragging (I don't get how that is done on a console), the physics are horrid and the A.I. is, besides from the inventive yelling scripts, just plain stupid.

Wanted guns
A game one of my friends picked up for 6 $... not worth is, completely broken.

Mortal Kombat for the gamecube.
Don't remember the name exactly.. but it was one of the most fingerkilling games ever. The "tutorial" was unfinishable, possibly due to the fact that it was obviously a bad port from presumably xbox - since I recall it telling me to hit an xbox button (which, of course did not exist). Tried to put a story in to the tutorial (every character for about 10 senarioes) - a fail of trainwreck proportions. Some comboes were simply undoable. bad game.

And the piece de resistance

Loki
Thouroughly broken. I paid full price for this piece of junk, actually i split it with some friends, but they refused to pay me when they tried it. There's no consistency in this game, the gods look silly, your character freezes in place, endlessly grinding the same monsters. Getting slightly better attacks with a standard talent tree... except every ability is broken, or atleast just worse than your standard attack. try it... I dispise the makers of this game for tricking me into buying this "game" and for molesting my heritage

Not to mention people listing games such as R6 Vegas, Halo, Splinter Cell and Dead or Alive in a thread called "Worst Game Ever".

It makes me think that they've played maybe 5 games in their whole lives. It reminds me of my dad who easily gets into a diatribe how Marble Madness is the worst game he's ever played when games are mentioned. The kicker? It's the only game he's ever played. He refuses to play anything, since that game kicked his ass.

Superman 64 (why the rings and doors?) and E.T. the legend states that they buried 500 E.T. games in the mexican desert because no1 would buy them and of the ones who did 90% sent the games back,

Dead Space, it wasn't original, it was a complete rip of another game called Run Like Hell. Even the man characters name is exactly the same. The only difference is a suit, and a bit where you shoot things with a cannon.

I can't stand a game that so blantently rips off another game. It makes me hate EA all the more, and I'm damn surprised they haven't been sued to heck and back for copyright infringement.

Oh, come on. If there's a striking similarity, it's because they're both trying to rip off Resident Evil and Aliens at the same time.

"It copied from game X" has no bearing on whether something is the worst game or not even if your accusations were true. Dead Space is a competent game.

Incorrect, Run Like Hell was unquie in the sense that it dealt with a situation unlike Resident Evil, the amtosphere was intense and you really got drawn in. I wouldn't be saying it was a rip off if it wasn't more then strikingly similar, the games are almost exact story wise. The game play is slightly different, but not much. The monster is exactly the same as the one in Run Like Hell.

The game isn't just similar, it's almost a copy paste job. I predicted every movement in the story from before I even played the game. Every bit, just because I remember Run Like Hell's story.

With MSG crossfire? Aside from the water, it did have a choppy framerate

The worst game I've ever played was 2Xtreme for the original playstation, thankfully this game wasn't mine, it was my sisters.

Oddly me and some friends did have some brilliant MST3K style fun with the absolutely WONKY voice over work, terrible controls and other fun stuff.

EDIT: No offense to the OP but I really hate these topics, it's basically an excuse for someone to go...

"I have an opinion! I hate this popular game, I'm going to be clever and say it's the worst game ever, ha ha ha!"

Example: See Konami Boy at the beginning of this page.

Suikoden as well, I love Suikoden, and Castlevania, and Silent Hill, and Metal Gear, and Zone of Enders...

Yeah...

Silent Hill 2 alone means they don't make 100% crap.

Yeah my mistake, Sleep deprivation to the max. For all it's flaws it's still fun, or it was fun to me, there was nothing that made the game so broken I couldn't play it. and as the giant mecha fanboy I was I give it lenience for letting me kick ass in a GM
