I just went through Metroid Prime again to get some use out of the damn thing.
omigod go to the store and pick up a copy of No More Heros for gods sake. To answer your actual question, yes, my gamecube disks work perfectly in the wii. Best backwards compatibility in the business.
I will when I buy some gamecube games. Also Tales of Symphonia 2 on Wii
I put in Super Smash Melee, even though i have Brawl.
Of course. There are lots of good Gamecube games. I wish I had a wireless GC controller though. I have to sit on the floor when I play.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. One of the best games on the game cube in my opinion
Funny story, I wanted to buy it at Blockbuster a few weeks ago and my friend snatches it and says "I found your Christmas gift." So in due time I will be playing that wonderfully bloody nerd game. Beam swords FTW.
I actually bought GC games to play on my Wii. Specifically Metroid Prime 1 and 2, and SSBM
I hear they're remaking the Metroid Primes for Wii. In other news, yes, I've played WarioWare. The only reason I haven't played any other GC games on it is that I've played all my GC games to death and have a large collection of Wii games to occupy me. I'll get round to playing Metroid Prime again one day.
I actually play more GC games (and SBCG4AP) on my Wii then Wii games.
I assume you need a GC controller to play the games?
All of you need to play Eternal Darkness. It's the only thing I play on the Wii really :\
Every once in a while I feel the need to play one of my old GC games.
13 posts and no-one's mentioned Skies of Arcadia? For shame, Escapist.
I haven't bought a Wii because my Gamecube hasn't broken yet.
Played through WindWaker a couple of times on it, also SuperMario Sunshine!
i play GC games on my wii all the time. i dont get new games that ofter so i play the ones i do have to death and as 2/3 of my game repertoire are GC games, i mostly play GC games.
Yeah, or a Classic Controller, but they're useless for GC games. Grab a Wavebird - it's wireless and matches the colour of the Wii. I've played many a GC game on my Wii, though I haven't done so in a while. I've gone back to my PS2 as of late. When I'm bored of that, I'm sure I'll get more use out of my Wii.
Luigi's Mansion is one of best games of that generation.
Gotcha Force forever! | |
I did the same thing about a month ago.
I would consider this Sideways compatibility. I play Killer 7 because the gamecube controller setup is sweet.
Too many :) Prince of persia. All the resi games, mario sunshine and luigis mansion. The prime series (though I tend to play prime more than echoes). Most of the zelda games (managed to get hold of the all in one box with the nes/snes/n64 games) and just random odd selections like hitman 2 and killer 7. Backwards compatibility is good.
metroid prime. :D | |
I pop in a Gamecube game once a week. This week, I'm gonna play Eternal Darkness.
"Luigi's Mansion" was the first game I got for my GameCube, and it is still very enjoyable. I have yet to find a decent racing game beyond the absolute best one, "Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2", GC version which I still play on the Wii (unless you count "Diddy Kong Racing" for the N64, which was freakin' awesome).
Try F-zero GX. Now that is a good racing game, if you can keep up with the sheer near epileptic inducting amounts of stuff that comes at you from the background.
True that. I am occasionally drafted in as player two Super Mario Galaxy, but I can do that while doing something else, like reading a book. In another room. Other than that, if the dust ever comes off that thing, it's to play a cube game.
Used to play SSBM but after I have brawl no point, wouldn't having F-ZERO but no-one sells GC games anymore.
well out shere bordume and since I have not bouth a NHL games Since NHL 2005, on the game cube i've been poping it in allmost every day to play the season. But dis is out of a bit of desperation. P.S. Go Sens Go
Indeed. Eternal Darkness is a wonderful game. I remember when they originally planned it for release on the N64.
Phantasy Star Online, Paper Mario, Resident Evil...I still have a GameCube, actually, but it's so much more convenient to just pop a game in the Wii.
SSBM, because if I want to play Brawl I'll just turn on slow-mo in Melee. Also because Doc is my main.
I own more Gamecube games than Wii games. And more often than not I actually get more enjoyment out of my Gamecube games. I play Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, Wind Waker and Skies of Arcadia on fairly regular basis.

Every so often I'll sit down determined to play a game, but I just can't choose one from my Wii collection. I've played Brawl to death and all it's single player trophies, The Force Unleashed has lost all replay value, and Smackdown vs Raw 2008 sucked and I want to watch it burn. That's usually when I decided to dip into the good ol' Gamecube collection. Maybe a little Tales of Symphonia, maybe some Day of Reckoning 2.
I know backwards compatibility usefulness tends to kind of phase out after a console has had some time to build up it's collection and we're two years out from when the Wii was released. I'm curious to know how many people still take advantage of the backwards compatibility and played a Gamecube game on the Wii recently (for those who want a time frame, lets say in the last couple of months). So, have you popped in one of those tiny little discs into your Wii?
