Tropico (yes, motherfucking Tropico) 3. This might be old news, but it's the first time I've ever heard/read about it... not that there were anything but the title to read, but still... Tropico 3! This tops any list, so I'll just put Tropico 3 on all places. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2096 Joined: 15 Jun 2008 | I don't have 15. Why? My standards are not high. I haven't been paying that much attention, to be honest, but enough to know which games I do want. I only have a Wii and PC, and those are enough to satisfy me. I don't understand why people want hundreds of games, I'm content with a few. Anyway, all that aside, here goes... Kirby: Same reason you gave, really. I'm a big fan of Kirby and this is his first foray into the third dimension, unless I've missed something. Many series have troubles translating into 3D (Sonic, anyone?), let's hope Kirby isn't one of them. In any case, it's a buy. No More Heroes 2: I haven't played the first one, but I have been dying to get it. Hopefully I'll get it for Christmas, but I doubt it. In any case, No More Heroes 2 is tentatively on my list, depending on how much I like the first No More Heroes (judging by what others have said about it, I will like it a lot) The Next Zelda Game: Assuming, of course, it's a 2009 release. Chrono Trigger on DS: Release date is '09 here, mates. Kid Icarus: Again, assuming it's an '09 release. But COME ON, we all know it's in the making. It's from the same studio that brought us Metroid, and we know how hard they're working on the next Metroid game. Plus, how could they give Pit a whole new look in Brawl and not be planning on reviving the series? Diablo III and Starcraft 2: Listed together because they're both Blizzard and both possibly not even '09. But hey, a guy can dream, can't he? LostWinds 2: I LOVED the first one, but it was shorter than Portal! It had the feel of a demo, so LostWinds is either going to be episodic (likely considering its status as a WiiWare title) or LostWinds 2 is going to be a full game. In the former case, it's definitely some time '09. In the latter case, '09 is still not out of the question. All in all, it's a pretty safe bet. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1221 Joined: 19 Mar 2008 | I honestly can't think of any games coming out next year that I want to buy. Maybe I just haven't been paying attention to releases but even looking at what other people have posted, I'm not getting any inspiration. I suppose I don't usually hear about games until they're nearly out though so there's probably plenty of great games waiting around the corner. |

And please Naughty Dog, give us Jak and Daxter 4! |

Or is this a list about the games you're looking forward to in 2009? Also I don't even have 5, because my standards really are too high and I don't own a console. Assassins Creed 2: Coronary Failure looks pretty good. Best looking A&E in game ever! Half Life 2 Episode 3- I Am Not A Number, I am a Free-Man Postal 3: Postal Dude versus the Milkman Halo 3: ADHD- a drop trooper like no other. Left 5 Dead Penultimate Fantasy XIII: We Promise This Time Grand Theft Auditing V: The Tax Dodge Race To The Rape- looks like a pretty sick racing game. Especially with all the power-ups Guitar Herpes: The Real life Rockstar simulator |

Actually Richard they're thinking of bringing Diablo III to console. :P Blizzard say that if any of their games were going to console, the best option would be Diablo III, for which they are in talks of. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1250 Joined: 7 Nov 2007 | from your List, LA Noire and White Knight Chronicles are the only two I've been looking forward to, and even then I'd kind of lost interest in them. Granted, I now have a PS3 and can actually play them, but I'm still pretty 'meh' on both. I've never played God of War though I probably will pick up God of War 3. i'm not hyped for it, but I probably will pick it up. honestly I haven't been paying enough attention to pick out what games i'm interested in for 2009 - certainly not 15 of them, so here's my top three most anticipated titles: 3. Halo 3: ODST - I love Halo, I admit this. I think playing a different campaign with one of the ODSTs in place of Master Chief is going to be interesting. |
Beat Writer Posts: 175 Joined: 20 Nov 2008 | (In no particular order) 16. Brutal Legend - how can this not be awesome 15. Resident Evil 5 - a great series and this looks to be a great new installment (and it has wesker) 14.Lord of the Rings Conquest - like battlefront but for LOtr. and battlefront was awesome 13. Aliens: Colonial Marines - ok it will probably suck...but its got aliens so how bad can it get 12.Mafia 2 - great premise, great setting, like Gta but for real crimelords 11. Ego Draconis 2 - again amazing premise and looks to have real depth 10. Red Faction Guerilla - had great fun with the whole series and the destruction mechanic looks amazing 9. Prototype - a truly unique premise, which could go horibly wrong, but amazingly well 8. DC Online - a true superpowered R.P.G 7. Mortal Online - i always like a new take on an old genre, and this looks good as anything 6. H.A.W.X - combat flight sims are usually pretty fun, but with that tom clancy edge.... 5. Cod Modern Warfare 2 - amazing series, how can this disapoint 4. Halo ODST - looks like bungie is geting over itself and making a unique game for once 3.Alan Wake - if it pays off this will just be epic 2. Batman Arkham - the darker side of DC is ripe for game ideas, and this stems from just that 1.ArmA 2 - a true military sim, kinda reminds of farcry 2 of crysis but with more depth Note: theres a lot of hype about the new ghostbusters, but have any of you actally looked at the details? seriously, some of that stuff is messed up, and unless they do something about it i predict a samey irritating 3rd person shooter just riding off the hype of the series |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1800 Joined: 8 Apr 2008 | 5. Assassin's Creed 2 - Haven't even played the first, but from what I've heard, the good points would outweigh the bad for me. 4. Pikmin 3 - I don't think it's possible to take the fun out of Pikmin, and flinging little plant men with the Wiimote can only add to it. 3. .Hack Series 3 (Don't know the working title) - Almost forgot about this one, I love the .Hack plots, in the anime, manga, and games.. so it's no wonder this one is close to the top of my list 2. Diablo 3 - Kind of interchangeable with .Hack, but due to only moderately entertaining gameplay in the .Hack games, this one goes a little further up my list. I'm actually looking forward to the removal of attribute points, I hate screwing up my character 45 hours into a game. 1. Star Ocean: The Last Hope - A Star Ocean that FINALLY takes place primarily in space. And if it's anywhere near as long, or has anywhere near the amount of stuff to do, or the combat is anywhere near as addictive as SO3, it's gonna be stellar (pun not intended). |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2768 Joined: 18 Sep 2007 | Here's the ones I'm looking forward to so far in the new year... it's not a long list, as I've kinda gamed myself out over the past two years. - Blood Bowl Online: the tactics of NFL football and almost as much violence as Diablo. How can it go wrong? - Fallout 3 DLC: I'm looking forward to the Anchorage simulation and visiting The Pitt... I'm a bit leery of the BoS storyline pickup, but I do want to learn more about it. - Halo 3: ODST: yes, I'm a Bungie fanboy. So? Besides, I'm always looking out for more information on the Halo universe I find so fascinating. - Halo Wars: as above, though I am leaning towards trying a demo before buying on this one. In addition, I'll be picking up Mirror's Edge in the new year though I suppose that's not really a "next year" game title. -- Steve |

About the only thing I'm looking forward too next year is Empire: Total war and maybe Tropico 3 (we'll see how that develops). Huxley might be interesting, but I don't know a) if its 2009, or b) if it'll be more than a bog-standard shooter. |

Diablo III and Starcraft II - I don't count Starcraft until all the parts are out. As for Diablo III, I just doubt it will come up before 2010.
I thought it was pretty clear that it was.

Yeah, yeah, abandon all hope, blah blah blah, its all gonna be shit, we've heard it before.
If you don't have 15, first of all, what is wrong with you? Either your standards are too high, you haven't been paying attention, or you really need to get a new console. Second of all, just write as many as you can. And please stick to the format I gave, don't let it just be a list thread, mods hate that.
15. Tekken 6
Played the Arcade, must have my own
14.Kirby (Working Title)
I don't know a plot, I don't know a release date, but I see the name Kirby, and I must have it. Some form of motion based sucking controls would be sweet, and wielding absorbed powers with the remote? Hell yeah.
13. Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Everything here is set to change the expectations of movies-to-games. And it doesn't even have the Scarface drawback of completely ruinging the movies message, since the movies had no message.
12.DC Universe Online
Play as The Joker, you can beat the crap out of Aquaman - its like Mortal Knombat VS DC Universe if it had depth.
11.No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle
Despite my well known doubts, I think its safe to say Suda 51 knows what he's doing - he wouldn't gamble his entire reputation to make a quick bit of cash.
10. Eyepet
Come on - a virtual monkey? Somewhere deep inside even the most bloodthirsty of all gamers, there lurks a small part that just sees this thing and instantly just wants to play with it, to love it, and to stroke it (and I'm predicting a huge wave of innuendo).
9. Ratchet and Clank Future 2
Word is they now have a gun that shoots train tunnels - one shot for the starting point, the other for where it goes to. Like a cross between Portal and a Wile E. Coyote cartoon.
8. LA Noire
As a Sydney resident, I have to love it. Its a law. Plus, you know....every single NPC in an open world game has a unique personality.....
7. White Knight Chronicles
You turn into a giant and beat the crap out of things. There has never been a game where sequences of just that have not been fun (Think about it - Majoras Mask, Psychonauts, God of War).
6. Heavy Rain
Death does not mean game over? a storyline where every action is a choice? Holy shit, this could be big. Speaking of big...
5. Massive Action Game (working title)
A full on war between two armies. Tactical considerations including wind direction and supply routes. Ambushes and traps, air strikes and anti-aircraft fire, commanders and privates. What promises to be a multiplayer experience like no other.
4. The Legend Of Zelda (working title)
A small part of me still hopes Miyamoto has not lost his touch.
3, 2 and 1. (I can't choose) God Of War III, inFAMOUS, Brutal Legend.
How can I choose? God Of War III is God of fucking War III, and is setting a series that was limited only by its hardware loose on a true beast. It also involves a war between the Titans and the Gods - yes, we are going through judgment day.
inFAMOUS just takes what amounts to every nerds fantasy - you are effectively the three way cross of a Ninja, Zeus, and Batman. I challenge any human being to come up with a cooler concept than that.
Brutal Legend... where do I begin? A Metal themed world? Damn straight. Written by Tim Schafer? Hell yeah. Voiced by Metal Gods? Oh, motherfucker this game is gonna be HUGE!
