Really? We're gonna see The Darkness 2 in 2009?
So the problem isn't that the games won't be just that the games aren't aimed at you. User was banned for: Poll: What is your opinion on the Metal Gear Solid storylines?. (Permanent) |

Not sure why, but the concept of video game characters as semi-real people and the concept of a 80's 8-bit video game character trying to make a 3d combat is amusing to say the least. Plus Neil Patric Harris is the antagonist, which is double fun |

To me, that sorta sounds like that Simpsons: Behind the Laughter episode. That was classic, so I guess it looks good. User was banned for: Poll: What is your opinion on the Metal Gear Solid storylines?. (Permanent) |

I'd say the problem is, in my veiw, many of the games won't be good. Regardless of who they are aimed at. I admit that I am something of an elitist when it comes to gaming (meaning console games rarely warrant my attention), and can be very hard to please, but I still reserve the right to judge whether games are good or not (or at least as much right as anyone else has to judge games). That's not to say I've not enjoyed countless games outside of my immediate target producers/devs. In general console platformers bore me to tears, yet point me in the direction of the original metal gear solid or metal gear solid:substance and don't expect to see me for a few hours. Or EA RTS games, I usually hate, yet Red Alert 3 managed to break my trend of uncompromized hatred of EA games whoring out the renegade engine, and I've actually played through most of the campagn. Good games > my bias. Also as a lot of the games that people are looking forward to are sequals, which are rarely as good as the original, again my optimism fades. Who's to say Assasins creed 2 for example won't be even more unfinished than the original (the massive 11 hours I squeezed out of it was very disapointing for a $100 game). Don't take offence at this, everyone has their own tastes and whatever, but a lot of the games you listed sound very shallow and seem to resemble other games that I've got bored of in the first 20 minutes (massive action game, eyepet etc). For me these kind of games need to prove themselves as being good after release, until such a time I will ignore them. And it's hardly fair to include a zelda game for a 2009 release when they don't even have a working title yet, if I recall correctly phantom hourglass was meant to follow up the DS not long after its release (it didn't). Similarly I can't see how you can be excited about a kirby game that may or may not be coming out sometime soon. At this point the PC release of mirrors edge is probably the most exciting confirmed PC game release, of course there is still SC2, D3 and DoW2, but we're still a LONG way from 15 titles that I'm actually looking forward too. |

Oh Hell yeah. That is, if it was set up for a sequel. I mean in Mass Effect they pretty much tell you there's going to have to be more; same with Assassin's Creed. And obviously BioShock 2's already been announced... That's the only one I'm not sure of. I mean I'd love to see a prequel instead of a direct sequel but even then it has a lot to live up to. Actually that'd be pretty sweet as long as they could just get a bit crazier with the whole "Darkness" thing. Imps with chainsaws? Okay... But why couldn't my evil tentacles simply transform in chainsaws anyway? |

HAHAHA, BAM! I'm honestly not that interested in anything coming down the pipe in 2009. I guess Mad World looks cool, but I'm not going to buy a Wii for one title. Also, I didn't know that Mass Effect 2 was scheduled for a 2009 release? |

Why on earth would you think that a Tenchu game would be good? User was banned for: Poll: What is your opinion on the Metal Gear Solid storylines?. (Permanent) |

I somehow doubt we'll see a new Kingdom Hearts in 2009. If there were, Squenix would have used it to dominate the Tokyo Games Show. User was banned for: Poll: What is your opinion on the Metal Gear Solid storylines?. (Permanent) |

Paperboy Posts: 35 Joined: 20 Dec 2008 | Irritatingly enough, I have no clue what's coming out for 2009, even after watching X-Play's lovely 2009 special. Since I hate God of War, there's no love in that direction. Because No More Heroes 2 is probably going to be the exact same game, I lost interest about halfway through reading its description. The only real game I'm "looking forward to" is inFAMOUS, which I have no hopes of being good, because it "looks too much" like Fracture. I'm sure there's going to be a few remakes on the DS (most likely by square enix), Nintendo's probably going to *hopefully* announce something in regards to one of their franchises, and I'll probably be sulking in games I've already played two-three times already. But really, do we expect anything good to get announced before E3? |

Paperboy Posts: 35 Joined: 20 Dec 2008 | Let me rephrase, since I worded that terribly. Fracture was a slight amount of hope that I had early on. A man with "superpowers" (in this case the ability to control the earth) that affected the world around him, in either negative or positive ways. To me, that's what inFAMOUS looks like. Another man with "superpowers" (in this case lighting) that affects the world around him in either negative or positive ways. Sure, the gameplay trailers looks nice, but I'm wondering how they are actually going to play when we get the controller in our hand. |

Yes this. Starcraft 2 is also on the short list. Other than that, not really anything. |

Guess there's no accounting for some tastes. I for one, had a lot of fun playing Wrath of Heaven and Fatal Shadows back on the PS2 so I'm genuinely looking forward to the next one. That, plus the PSP has had a pretty abysmal release schedule for a while now so it's about time I had something fun to play. |

That guy in Fracture didn't have superpowers. He had guns an grenades. |

Duder, if your top 15 contains a Sonic game, a Tenchu game and a Wii X game, you might need to upgrade your computer. User was banned for: Poll: What is your opinion on the Metal Gear Solid storylines?. (Permanent) |

Starcraft 2 - What can I say? Its Starcraft for Christ's sake! Diablo 3 - See Starcraft 2 explaination. Brutal Legend - It has Jack Black. Thats all I gotta say. Oh, AND its being made by Double Fine. |

Fuck yeah, Right? Personally, I just hve one minor problem with that. For everything that Psychonauts did right (and theres a hell of a lot of it) it had some pretty meh gameplay and controls. While everything else about Brutal Legend will be awesome, I'm kinda worried that the actual gameplay will be lacking the lustre of all the other aspects. Most of the games that people are seemingly excited about I have little or no interest in playing, the exception of course being brutal legend, which regardless of how good or bad the actual game may be, will be awsome simply for the what it is based off of.
